If Atlantic, NYT and WaPo are right and CDC is not properly managing the data, then replacing it in that endeavor is a good idea.

HHS is saying they want the data directly because the CDC is a week behind in reporting. With the more timely data HHs can help the federal government deploy resources in a more timely manner.

That’s not what “accepting a bribe means.” The firing of the corrupt prosecutor who was protecting Ukranian gangsters was U.S. policy and the policy of our allies as well. That prosecutor was not even investigating the company in question at the time. And the company in question was not “Biden’s son’s company”. It was a company for which Biden’s son recent began to do consulting work. But other than being wrong on all the major points, sure, I guess. That tape.

But what does this have to do with Trump hiding the coronavirus data from the public? That’s the real story and the subject of this thread.

I’ve been involved in health care reporting for a long time. There is always a lag. Medical claims lag by weeks or months. Death data lags by days or weeks.

Survalience reports can lag by days. Even with automated integrity checks, you still have issues to deal with.
 
Yes. I have seen the Democrat talking points before. The China bribery ones too.

It’s a fake conclusion, not a factual “story”. There is zero evidence produced on here that Trump’s motivation is anything other than correcting the ineptitude of CDC which even your liberal sources say is a problem.

There is zero evidence that Trump wants accurate and timely information released, given how damaging it is to his popularity. And we know how precious his popularity is to him.

Maybe it isn’t damaging at all. If CDC is “double counting” some of the numbers, which some have alleged. From the Atlantic article:

“We’ve learned that the CDC is making, at best, a debilitating mistake: combining test results that diagnose current coronavirus infections with test results that measure whether someone has ever had the virus.”

Public policy depends on having accurate information.

Trump’s “firing” CDC from that function and putting it with another agency is excellent evidence that Trump wants accurate and timely information.

What changes is that data that used to go to a non-political agency that was trusted by the nation as a whole now goes to a very political agency, which means the data that comes out will not be trusted because of political corruption of what should be pure science.

The CDC moved its focus from mildly-political infectious disease to very political public health measures (like car seats, health disparities, dietary guidelines, etc) a long time ago.
