Hey, folks.
I read the article, and it says that the couple was an atheist couple. (No surprises on my part there.) Drunkeness + atheism = little or no regard for the rules and values of other people. The article said they were arrested and that after some people in the community prayed for them, they then decided to make an apology. I was shocked at first, too, but what this story goes to show is 1.) the power of prayer and 2.) the ability of this lovely Catholic Church to make amends and move on. The Bishop absolved them and had a Mass of Reparation in that same church. This would be the “moving on” part. What good would it do to continually point the finger at this couple? We are too busy, and perhaps they have learned a very important lesson here. The kindness of the church there was a powerful witness to them, I’m sure.
