I always think when they use someone with a British accent we are to perhaps believe it makes what they are saying more believable?

As soon as I saw Bill Gates, I knew it was biased.

No, it reflects scientific understanding of the virus.

As for ‘they use someone with a British accent’: is it just possible it was made by British people?

Bill Gates in the video is used to state, accurately, what the likely minimum time in ordinary circumstances would be for the development of the virus.

I have no idea who Stephen Fry is, not terribly interested in finding out, and after 2 months of shutdown and nonstop COVID-19 updates being pushed to my home phone, my work phone, my work e-mail, every news page and pretty much served with my breakfast, lunch and dinner, the last thing I want to watch is a video on it.

I am now going to go watch an old Peter Sellers movie instead. Much more productive use of my time.

Is this video biased or what?
Of course it’s biased. All media is biased, because it’s created by humans.

You’re biased. I’m biased. The moment we believe ourselves or our favorite news sources to be the only unbiased voices out there, we show ourselves to be fools.

We need to remain skeptical and discerning, while always aware of our tendencies to think that sources that tell us what we agree with are more reliable than others.

Do I only trust scientific data from sources who also support my political views? Why would I allow my political views to influence my knowledge base?

While I don’t appreciate the tone of various parts of this video, I certainly see the validity of much (though not necessarily all) of the science presented. That is to say, there are multiple non-partisan scientific sources that seem to say roughly the same sorts of things presented here.

On the other hand, why would I care or not care what a BBC video on YouTube has to say about the pandemic. They aren’t saying anything new that I need to know.

Out of curiosity, from all the thousands of videos currently available with more unbiased reporting of this pandemic, why did you choose this one to post?

If you watch the video, you can see “BBC” in the corner. As it was produced in the UK, why shouldn’t they have British accents?

The day I realized I didn’t have to take the outrage bait on the internet was a great day.

The film is made by Pindex. The reason it’s narrated by Stephen Fry is because he is the founder and creative director of Pindex. When Pindex was launched, he said that he would be narrating some of the company’s films. So, no big mystery there.

I’m not sure why the presence of Bill Gates would mean something is biased. I believe he’s said that he’s prepared to give as much money as it takes to fund research into finding a vaccine. I’m not sure how one can find fault in that.

Stephen Fry has a connection with Peter Sellers: he played Maurice Woodruff in the film The Life and Death of Peter Sellers. He’s multi-talented: novelist, memoirist, journalist, dramatist, scriptwriter, director, actor, comedian, presenter, narrator. He was brilliant in Blackadder as Lord Melchett in season 2 and General Melchett in season 4 and has played other Melchett characters in spin-offs. He made some stupid remarks suggesting that Poland was responsible for the Holocaust. I rather went off him when he made some comments about not having any sympathy for the self-pity of child sexual abuse victims.

My husband was a Blackadder fan. I never watched it, but one day when it won’t make me too sad I might watch it. Then I suppose I’ll know who Stephen Fry is.

I don’t pay much attention to things actors say or do when they’re not acting. Robert Blake may have murdered his wife (he was acquitted but many still think he was guilty and he was held civilly liable for her death), it doesn’t interfere with my enjoyment of old Baretta reruns.

If it’s anti-faith don’t be surprised. Fry is an atheist and promotes atheism.

Is Bill Gates a medical doctor or a scientist of some type? I don’t want to hear
from Bill Gates.

My doctor said to me if you wants to safe from corona then visit this site and see the vaccination
I know this ^ post will get deleted because it’s spam, but it is hilarious, I want to capture it because people today deserve a laugh. Just out of curiosity I wonder what country you are from? Do you know how bad your English is?

You know he is not. But he is an investor. He understands research and development and time lines in the development of pharmaceuticals. That is what he was talking about. These are not medical questions.

I haven’t watched this, but I love Stephen Fry. I could listen to him for hours. I may not agree with him on religious matters, but he’s still brilliant if you ask me.

I just installed a kitty door from garage to house. Now that accomplished something, although my wife considers me biased in favor of “my little beauty.”

Oh I know the answer to this. It’s from the tin foil hat brigade, something about putting a tracker in vaccine so the “new world order” (read:unified conspiracy nonsense) can control the global population. It’s related to the 5G and other assorted garbage that has been associated to this.

It took a few jabs at US “conservatives” and President Trump. All true, by the way, but gratuitous nonetheless.
I do think Americans need to realise just how much the rest of the world looks at the US as a car crash at the minute.
