who see instead Putin as God’s gift…
Isn’t it obvious that he is exactly God’s gift?
… and the fascist imperialism that he is bringing down upon his neighbours as the legitimate exercise of power in the world.
Just needs to be slightly fixed, I’ll do it for you
as it should be:
… and the fascist imperialism that USofA and it’s colonies are bringing down upon the entire Wolrd as the legitimate exercise of power in the world.
There.

The whole anti-gay thing in Russia is probably a crock. With a winked-at underworld like Russia has, can anyone truly believe there aren’t homosexual bathhouses and child exploitation going on there?
I can.

I don’t think so. Here’s some of the reasons why Russian speakers are justifiably so opposed to the European Union.
Code:
Mykola Azarov also said the EU had insisted
on ‘unacceptable conditions’ sign the AA, including the introduction of gay
marriage and laws protecting sexual minorities. "The opposition leaders are
telling fables when they say that we only have to sign the [association]
agreement [with the EU] to start traveling to Europe visa-free the next day.
Nothing of the sort. We have yet to comply with a whole set of
preconditions: we have to legalise same-sex marriages, we have to adopt
legislation on equality of sexual minorities. AND

MP Antonina Khromova made statements at the Donetsk regional council,
approving the use of force to remove protesters in Kiev, which was met with
applause. She continued by saying that Ukraine does not need European
values, namely, “same-sex marriage” and “African
panhandlers”.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-Maidan

What in the world are “African panhandlers”? Is that something similar to “rootless cosmopolities”?

EU members are not required to legalize same sex marriages, despite what some Putin agent says.

They are working on that. Poland Croatia, Slovakia, and Ireland will very soon, the more eastern countries might hold out a little longer but western liberalism will spread. Its just a natural progression of being in the EU and under the west.

It’s a reference to the EU’s stark raving mad immigration policies.

I once heard it said that the reason the IRA never took out Ian Paisley was because he was such a good recruiting tool. Putin is about the best argument for Western liberalism around. It’s not easy to make it look good either.

Of course it is, The Irish government didn’t want to actually install it, so are holding a referendum to let the people choose, with a SSM Yes vote backed by practically all government members. The media has backed the government by being around 90% pro-SSM and10% against.

Mind you, if (I pray), the Irish do vote no, we’ll no doubt all be asked to vote again like with the Lisbon treaty, until we vote YES.

Putin makes no odds to me, it was after abortion was introduced to Ireland, a year or so ago, and now SSM is on the cards fully backed by the government and the national media.

Needless to say if we vote yes we’ll be seen as a compassionate and tolerant people and will be giving a powerful signal to the international community.

‘I think it is time to do this’: Enda Kenny is happy to campaign for same-sex marriage

thejournal.ie/enda-kenny-same-sex-marriage-1845525-Jan2015/

In his keynote address to the Fine Gael national conference in Castlebar he said that when the people of Ireland vote in the referendum in May the issue will be whether the State will allow same sex couples the right to civil marriage.
“As we approach the centenary of the Rising, a Yes vote would, I believe, send out a powerful signal internationally that Ireland has evolved into a fair, compassionate and tolerant nation.

Its pretty easy when anything not it is demonized extensively, but why hypotheticals its coming.

No argument there. SSM is a done deal in Ireland and the US. I have pretty much accepted that. And, as you point out, even if by some stroke of luck, reason truimphs this time around and Ireland votes no or the Supreme Court in the US rules favorably toward traditional marriage - it will come back again and again and again. The parallel to the contraception/abortion fight in the US in the 60s is clear.

I had a surprisingly nasty exchange with a kid over “gay rights” / traditional marriage out on the street the other day. He asked me to help him support gay rights. I was very nice and patient (actually quite nervous) as I explained my position; he became so furious with me. This is a campaign; it has nothing to do with human rights in any meaningful sense. That kid was young enough to be my son. He didn’t have a clue what he was supporting in real human terms or what the effects of it would be. (bad “PR” for the side…but I think that IS the side… ;))

Take care of yourself and your own and go to Church. 🙂 The effects of these social changes won’t be understood by everybody for a couple more generations. It is just feel good propaganda and self-delusion - “compassion” “tolerance” etc. Maybe you will live to see people move away from it, maybe not. We shouldn’t let it destroy us, right? Be thankful you are who you are.

That is my stand…sans Putin sans Obama.

If anyone is opposed to armed conquest and slavery, she should not step a foot inside the USA. Some estimates are that one hundred million native American Indians were slaughtered in one of the largest conquests of a people in history.
Yes, please go back over hundred years, I just need to turn to todays paper to find out how many Ukrainians,Georgians and Russians Putler has killed today.

👍 Precisely.

I must say you were very brave taking on a young SSM supporter. 🙂 They usually don’t have a clue and don’t think beyond the fact they’re being ‘good, nice, touchy-feely’ and compassionate (to use Enda’s word) people, making a stand to support the right of everyone to ‘marry’ and be ‘happy’ who lurve each other.

In Ireland, I think it’s more upsetting when Catholic priests state they have no problem voting yes. A letter from the Irish bishops was sent out last week to all churches, I really pray it will be a NO vote. :gopray:

Sorry, you are getting a little too esoteric here for me, Boar - is this Hegel?
Should have been more clear. The things that make western liberalism (I’m not referring to capitalism) look good all seem to get demonized. I don’t think is coincidence and the alternatives shouldn’t be discounted.

I encounter the same thing at my school. In my age groups its apparently like universal support. Makes me worried about future priests and bishops . They don’t grow in secluded forests after all.

Well, I’ll pray for you. If it is any consolation, we have a lot of liberal clergy in this area too - been down that road, or rather I live on it as do you.

As for the kid, yes, I don’t usually do that. But I figured, hey, give it a shot - I do it on CAF all the time. I was very polite: self-control is the key if you ever try this. He lost it; I didn’t. And I just asked him to please think about what I said and walked off. There was another one there too who did seem a little more responsive/affected; he was embarrassed and staring at the ground. Think I may have got one, lost one…😉 What’s odd is the main one really didn’t want to talk person to person though - it is an agenda, anger, that sort of thing - not a lot of good will there; it is not about compassion or tolerance I am afraid.

In other words, EU does not require it. Thank you.

And those alternatives are???
