What? Disunity, heresy, false prophets? Don’t think Jesus left that. Using only the bible, what does Jesus tell you about embryoninc stem cell research? Abortion? Human cloning? Same sex unions? Zip. Zero. Nada. Not in the bible. Now what?
The bible. Prove the Church was wrong when she infallibly declared the canon of the New Testament. Simple.
Actually all of that is addressed in the Bible:
Abortion and embryonic stem cell research-it kills a human life. There is a commandment against killing.
Some question when does human life begin:
Jeremiah 1
5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
before you were born I set you apart;
I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
Homosexuality:
Leviticus 18:
22Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
Individuality versus cloning:
Psalm 139
Luke 12
6 Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. 7 Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
What I would like to see is a canon of infallible statements.
Also proof that Mary was born immaculate, she was assumed and is co-redeemer.
When you intreprete Scripture it must not contradict, Peter being the rock Jesus builds HIS Church on contradicts Scripture. There must be a tradition in the Catholic Church that outweighs or negates Scripture for Peter or Pope to be considered a Vicar of Christ-stand in for Jesus.
I would also like to see proof of that tradition- that Jesus built HIS Church on one man Peter or that
“Peter was grafted onto the cornerstone” or that Peter or any Pope is the head of the Church when Scripture says otherwise:
Ephesians 2
19 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. 21 In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. 22 And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.
1 Corinthians 3:
11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 1
22 And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.
Colossians 1
17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 Peter is one of many in the foundation.
1 Corinthians 10
3 They all ate the same spiritual food 4 and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ.
1 Peter 2
4 As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— 5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6 For in Scripture it says:
“See, I lay a stone in Zion,
a chosen and precious cornerstone,
and the one who trusts in him
will never be put to shame.”
7 Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe,
“The stone the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone,”
8 and,
“A stone that causes people to stumble
and a rock that makes them fall.”
They stumble because they disobey the message—which is also what they were destined for.
