I am not saying Fox won’t allow those who are not on board with Trump to have their say - but increasingly, overall I perceive a real pro Trump ‘let’s all shut up and get on board behind him’ vibe,
Exactly. It’s one thing if someone at Fox just wants to promote Trump, or whichever candidate; but at least with Bolling it really goes beyond that into a crusade against anyone sponsoring pro-Cruz (or pro-Kasich) ads rather than giving their money to the frontrunner.

I agree with every word. I have really enjoyed watching Fox (Kelly/Hannity/O’Reilly) for the last two or three years. They were critical of the Obama administration in a way that the rest of the media was not. Fox performed a necessary public service in my view as media watchdog on many hot button issues like Benghazi, ISIS, gay marriage, infringements on religious freedom, the excessive power of liberal Hollywood and corporations, the anti-police Ferguson stuff, Black Lives Matter excesses, violence. Again, no one else in the media in the country was questioning the Obama official position in the slightest on these issues. Fox presented an alternative view which is so important in the media.

Then Trump comes along… What happened. They uncritically drink and espouse the Trump KoolAid - lethal stuff to their own conservative brand, identity, integrity - to the GOP, and to over half of the Republicans in the country. Hannity is the worst: a Trump groupie; furthermore he has an aggressive style on occasion that is really offensive, inappropriate; **I watched him basically take down a Catholic priest once in an ‘interview’ **and have not watched him that much since. But I have also seen the proTrump subliminal message straight from O’Reilly and of course our buddy Eric Bolling and a number of the other “Five” ones. A few notable (and very courageous) hold-outs of course. I am not saying Fox won’t allow those who are not on board with Trump to have their say - but increasingly, overall I perceive a real pro Trump ‘let’s all shut up and get on board behind him’ vibe, which I resent: this amounts to the GOP committing suicide electorally and in terms of what it stands for. Even commentators who refuse to get on the Trump train are getting heat - National Review or Weekly Standard guys. I just stopped watching in disgust. (I should add that I believe Trump will self-derail and Cruz will emerge in the latter part of this campaign; this is going to be very embarrassing and painful for quite a number of media Trumpers)

I will actually plug CNN here - Anderson Cooper, Don Lemon. Be forewarned though - they are openly on the left. But the shows are intelligent and the conversations are more balanced, the right and left are pretty equally represented and allowed to fully state their opinions (they don’t just get cut off and shot down after 30 seconds). Less shrill more substantive, interesting discussion. I really enjoy it. And of course you get a much more accurate picture of the real state of the race - they don’t just smear Hillary 24/7. You can figure out what is going on with both sides, not just be fed what you want to hear/believe. (they are annoyingly pro Hillary sometimes I will admit) Which is what news is supposed to be.
**I saw that interview, Hannity was very disrespectful and unwilling to listen to the preist who was trying to inform him of the teachings of the Catholic church on contraception. Hannity is Catholic, but he regularly criticizes Christ’s church. He admits to not going to church “as much as he used to” he’s pro-life with exceptions, pro contraception, he pretty much refuses to discuss gay “marriage” issues, and he is quick to jump on the bandwagon with the rest of secular media whenever negative news about the Catholic church comes up. Hannity is fiscally conservative but he is socially moderate at best. Same goes for bill o’reilly who is also catholic **

Yes, and Judge Janine, I really used to like watching her and I now I can’t turn on that show- she’s basically a cheerleader for Trump.
Megyn Kelly and Greg Gutfield are probably some of the few on Fox that haven’t drank the Trump Kool-Aid. And Charles Krauthammer.
I haven’t cared for Hannity since he took down that Catholic Priest- what was his name>? anyway that was about 10 years ago-.I remember when that happened.
I agree these days it seems like more balance on the CNN or other shows.I’ve been saying for months and months that Trump is not a conservative and I am stymied as to why so many conservatives are are so gaga over this guy. It reminds me of the mania over Obama in 2008 on the left.

I can hardly listen to Hannity anymore, he claims to be neutral but it’s obvious he’s a trumpster. He defends everything trump, no matter how sleazy.
Hannity claims to be a conservative but dismisses trumps liberal history just because trump says he’s changed. (even though many things trump says changes almost daily)
Trump could have just as easily ran as a democrat, and I believe he would have if our current prez was a republican.
hannity, o’reilly, rush and the rest would bash trump daily if he were running as a democrat, and it would be on the exact same issues they are defending him about now.
Exactly. Add Judge Jeannine, whom I used to like to listen to, to the list. Eric Bolling is bad too but at least tries to be objective. With the exception of Megyn Kelly,I don’t watch Fox much these days.
I agree I think Trump is an opportunist. He has capitalized on the legitimate anger of the people regarding the ineptness and weakness of the Obama administration and used it to get where he is. I have seen nothing of substance from Trump at all regarding how he is going to accomplish the things he proposes. I hope I’m wrong, I really am,

I guess I’m an optimist wrt FoxNews.

I heard about Judge Jeanine endorsing Trump, but I was never really into her show anyways so that didn’t faze me too much. And thank goodness that on The Five, when Bolling really starts to spin things, others like Greg, Dana, and Kimberly will call him on it or at least register their utter disbelief.

But if it’s really as bad over there as some people think … well, that’s kind of scary.

How can it be scary when you have eric versus the four? He’d be the minority, right? Unless you want to snuff out even one pro-trump voice?

I never doubted that Cruz would win being a citizen eligible to run for president, but Trump point out that as the Constitution states that a person must be born in the United States, his eligibility would be challenged right up to the SCUTUS and it would hurt him if it dragged out to the General Election where people would have doubts whether or not they would be wasting their vote on him.

Funny how Obama’s mother being a US born citizen, was never considered by the birthers.

Jim
The Constitution does not state this.

The Constitution does not state this.
So, take it up with Trump who said it.

Fact is, Cruz is a natural born citizen by the fact that his mother is.

The same was true for Obama, if the claim that he wasn’t born in the USA.

However, Obama was in fact born in Hawaii

Jim

**When the votes were counted – each delegate could vote for any 25 people – eighteen of the Cruz supporters had made it through.
But if Cruz’s strength was hard to measure, Trump’s was simple. His campaign celebrated the North Dakota’s GOP list, which seemed to include a good number of allies and persuadable voters. Several of those people lost out to the voters preferred by Cruz. The Texan’s communications director Jason Miller mocked the “imploding Trump campaign” for only having one obvious supporter in the final slate**.
Cruz seems to have “won” the North Dakota caucus this weekend, though all of the 25 delegates are undeclared. They only state their allegiance at the convention; however, numerous sources are reporting that 18 of the 25 selected delegates were Cruz supporters. Rumor has it Trump only got one supporter into the final 25 selected.

So, take it up with Trump who said it.
I don’t need to take it up with anyone. The Constitution doesn’t state it. There needs to be no further discussion, as those who claim it does state such are patently false.

Ted Cruz Wins Pennsylvania Conservative Straw Poll
RedState, By: streiff (Diary) | April 3rd, 2016 at 07:00 PM
Yesterday the Pennsylvania Leadership Conference, a conservative coalition that is non-partisan, held a straw poll at its conference in Harrisburg, PA.
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz won the Presidential Poll with 64.6% of the vote at the Pennsylvania Leadership Conference, whereas Donald Trump came in second with 13.6% and John Kasich finished third with 13.3%. The audience was also polled if they would vote for Trump if he was the Republican nominee, 68% of the attendees would vote for Trump over the Democrat candidate.
I’m not a big believer in straw polls for a lot of reasons but there are reasons to look at this one carefully. This is the current state of polling:
Donald Trump 42.3%
John Kasich 20.7%
Ted Cruz 19.4%
Grim, yes. But keep in mind that Pennsylvania is a closed primary and closed primaries are not friendly to Donald Trump’s campaign style and message. The deadline to register to vote is 30 days prior to the primary. If you are currently a Democrat or independent or minor party member you have to change your party affiliation in order to vote in the GOP primary. Pennsylvania’s delegate selection is NOT tied to the popular vote. You can win Pennsylvania and get diddly-squat as a percentage of delegates.
Pennsylvania voters will select three delegates from each of the 18 congressional districts. Those 54 delegates will be able to vote for whomever they want at the Republican National Convention.
The remaining 17 delegates are party insiders who automatically go to the convention. Three are national party members and 14 are other special party members. They would be pledged, on the first ballot, to support whichever candidate captured the most support by Pennsylvania voters.
If there is no nominee after the first round of voting, then they, too, can vote for whomever they want.
**The repudiation that Trump saw at the straw poll more likely than not runs deep within voters who regularly vote within the GOP. As the delegates from congressional districts are not bound, their allegiance to Trump will be doubtful.

This straw poll is interesting for a number of reasons - it is, I believe, a barometer of where the party is headed more and more, on the ground anyway, as opposed to the media and Trump’s Twitter account.

Cruz is the heavy favorite among the core committed GOP traditional voters in Pennsylvania, not Kasich, who seems to really be fizzling. Secondly, there is a grass roots movement growing in the heart of the GOP against Trump, for Cruz. Note that only 68% percent of those in this straw poll said they would support Trump as nominee. Again, Romney pulled 94%…This GOP rebellion is happening at the delegate level; the people are trying to take their party back by selecting proCruz delegates. Who would have ever thought Trump’s biggest problem would in the end be the GOP base?

One caveat - it will be interesting to see how this plays out in New York State and the rest of the Northeast. This part of the country could well remain Trump friendly, a firewall. It is very liberal and secular; I don’t think the abortion issue frankly really matters there much to a lot of Republicans; they would like to see the back of it. But we could be pleasantly surprised. Again, the above straw poll was in Pennsyvania, after all, and very recent.
