Hello everyone,
First off, I was to say thank you. You don’t even know how much this all means to me. I had only been to this forum a couple times before posting and the outpouring of advice and love from you all has really had a good effect on me. You are all very nice people and you really, really help people like me. Please don’t stop posting and praying for people when they have problems. I know your prayers have helped me. Thank you very much, you don’t know how grateful I really am. I am sorry I haven’t thanked you all sooner, because you all have really helped me.
That very night, my girlfriend came over. Yes, we fought. She was very hurt and I could tell the thing that hurt her the most was that I lied to her again about it all. She was very angry and said things that really did hurt me. Then, she fell asleep on my bed and I just sat in front of my heater thinking about everything. She woke up and apologized for the mean things she said to me and said she didn’t really mean them. I walked her to her car and she went home. The next day we talked about it some more, but this time we didn’t really fight, so that was nice. She forgave me…again.
Since then we have been having fun together again. We just watched a movie and made brownies together just last night, so I think everything will be fine.
I have learned so much from this experience. The most important thing I have learned is that I HAVE TO BE HONEST, and I can’t abuse her trust in what I say. If she is going to help me, I have to be honest to her. This is the most important thing, and the thing that I want everyone else struggling with this problem to know. You NEED to be completely honest with your partner. My girlfriend loves me and I abused that. I was scared she wouldn’t forgive me and I didn’t want her to know I messed up again, so I lied again. I fooled myself into thinking that lying would solve anything. It only made me feel guilty, and once I told her I lied, the lie was even worse than the action I was trying to hide. BE HONEST!!!
I’m back to day 8 and counting without masturbating.and 71 days of no pornography. I still get tempted to masturbate, even now, and so I know I will have that problem for a while. It is something I will have to live with until I beat the problem completely. I know I can with God’s help, a loving girlfriend, forums like this, and people like you.
To anyone to has to deal with someone in my situation: please love the people that are close to you even if they mess up in their addictions. As long as they are remorseful, forgive them and give them your love. If you love them, let them know that you are there for them and don’t hate them if they mess up.
Again, thank you all for the advice, the prayers, and the messages. You have really helped me so much and I really appreciate it.
