Hello everyone,

First off, I was to say thank you. You don’t even know how much this all means to me. I had only been to this forum a couple times before posting and the outpouring of advice and love from you all has really had a good effect on me. You are all very nice people and you really, really help people like me. Please don’t stop posting and praying for people when they have problems. I know your prayers have helped me. Thank you very much, you don’t know how grateful I really am. I am sorry I haven’t thanked you all sooner, because you all have really helped me.

That very night, my girlfriend came over. Yes, we fought. She was very hurt and I could tell the thing that hurt her the most was that I lied to her again about it all. She was very angry and said things that really did hurt me. Then, she fell asleep on my bed and I just sat in front of my heater thinking about everything. She woke up and apologized for the mean things she said to me and said she didn’t really mean them. I walked her to her car and she went home. The next day we talked about it some more, but this time we didn’t really fight, so that was nice. She forgave me…again.

Since then we have been having fun together again. We just watched a movie and made brownies together just last night, so I think everything will be fine.

I have learned so much from this experience. The most important thing I have learned is that I HAVE TO BE HONEST, and I can’t abuse her trust in what I say. If she is going to help me, I have to be honest to her. This is the most important thing, and the thing that I want everyone else struggling with this problem to know. You NEED to be completely honest with your partner. My girlfriend loves me and I abused that. I was scared she wouldn’t forgive me and I didn’t want her to know I messed up again, so I lied again. I fooled myself into thinking that lying would solve anything. It only made me feel guilty, and once I told her I lied, the lie was even worse than the action I was trying to hide. BE HONEST!!!

I’m back to day 8 and counting without masturbating.and 71 days of no pornography. I still get tempted to masturbate, even now, and so I know I will have that problem for a while. It is something I will have to live with until I beat the problem completely. I know I can with God’s help, a loving girlfriend, forums like this, and people like you.

To anyone to has to deal with someone in my situation: please love the people that are close to you even if they mess up in their addictions. As long as they are remorseful, forgive them and give them your love. If you love them, let them know that you are there for them and don’t hate them if they mess up.

Again, thank you all for the advice, the prayers, and the messages. You have really helped me so much and I really appreciate it.

And thank you for your update and uplifting words for us all. I agree, really great and caring folks on these forums. Will continue to pray for you and your girlfriend.

God Bless…🙂

My friend. Try not to feel so alone. As a friend once said to me. We all feel the same way and we all have our many weakness. Prayer is a great help. Ask this special girl if she would help you get through this problem by attending seminars that may be held in your area by the church. If you surely wish to keep her in your life, then be strong and convincing the next time you meet her. Send a nice letter.
Remember, we are all only human
May Gods:) 🙂 love shine down on you

Dear Friend in Christ

I pray that God grants you the graces you need to fight your addictions, and your girlfriend the wisdom forgiveness and strength she needs to help you.

If possible pray before the Blessed Sacrament, particularly when you feel tempted.

May the Lord keep you and protect you from temptation.

This is great and I hope things continue to go well for you. With the Lord all things are possible. I am so happy for you and thankful you have a great supportive girlfriend to help you. God Bless you and her.

This is why I love this board. Somebody can pour out their heart on such a strong topic and get nothing but prayer, love, and care from the members. Amen to you all!

and Apple, like I told you in my PM, you’re an inspiration to me and you are in my prayers every night. May God give us strength and help you, me, and TLDenmark (I assume) overcome this terrible addiction.

Dear AppleCrisp

Have you taken advantage of the Sacrament of Penance. If not do. You are obviously are trying to overcome your problem and God will give you that grace…

See this as a test of faith. You know that God forgives and you must forgive yourself. Once you receive forgiveness through the Sacrament of Penance… practice these simple spiritual exercises:

  1. *]Realize and accept that you are going through a spiritual battle for your soul. Use the arsenal available in the Church to fight back. If it means you have to keep going back to confession over and over SO BE IT.
*]Understand why it is wrong to masterbate. Men are gifted with the seed of life. When you masterbate you are destroying life. Whenever you feel the urge say Mary take Over. She is the perfection of purity. Say the memorare prayer.
*]Invite your girlfriend to pray the Rosary together and take an hour of adoration if it is available at your Church.
*]Become a member of the E5men.org. Baptized Christian men fast on Wednesdays on bread and water. You will find you are not alone.
*]You will feel sorrow for what you have done. Thank God for giving you the gift of sorrow… it is a foremost step to healing. Pray the Rosary daily and Our Lady will obtain the necessary graces for purity for you.
*]Ask your girlfriend to help you with these spiritual exercises as it is a good beginning to marriage. If she refuses then accept it as God’s will and let her know that you will not be offended if she refuses as she has every right to do so and sincerely respect that right.
*]If she accepts well and good
*]If she refuses, you still have the Sacraments of the Church, your guardian angel, the saints to help you. See directionforourtimes.com and read the booklet on Addictions.
*]Know that God will help you overcome this Cross.
*]Love is not a feeling… it is a decision to do what is right no matter what the cost.
*] Do a novena to the Holy Spirit and ask for the increase of His gifts to overcome yourself.

    God bless you.

AppleCrisp, I am glad that you and your girlfriend are working things out and that you are growing in holiness. I am praying for your both. God bless you!

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

First off, I was to say thank you. I still get tempted… Again, thank you all for the advice, the prayers, and the messages. You have really helped me so much and I really appreciate it.
Try reciting the Lord’s prayer each morning before you get up - before your feet touch the floor. Follow this with the act of contrition, which focuses on how sin offends God. It also ends on a positive note, stating your intent to avoid sin and calling upon God to strengthen you against sin. Do this only on days in which you want to avoid sin. 👍
My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart. In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good, I have sinned against You, Whom I should love above all things. I firmly intend, with Your help, to do penance, to sin no more, and to avoid whatever leads me to sin. Our Savior Jesus Christ suffered and died for us. In His name, my God, have mercy. Amen.

Congratulations on your progress. You have also given us an opportunity to be loving Christians rather than judgmental ones. The Rosary is a powerful weapon. Consecrate yourself to the Blessed Mother… She is really a short cut to abundant graces. Make the morning offering and offer your day to God and ask Him for actual graces to fight the temptations.

You are in my thoughts and prayers.
