Hi all… I know the RCC says that homosexuality is gravely wrong and disorderd…

But it seems they stop short of the biblical commandment to kill them…

Leviticus clearly states they should be killed… in new testament it is described as crime worthy of death…

so should they be killed by government for their actions? or no?
There is no longer any biblical mandate to kill sinners. Those edicts were for a hard hearted people who needed an extremely legalistic life in order to stay on track since God had not yet incarnated in Jesus Christ. Many sinners still die in their sins, and lose eternal life rather than temporal life. The moral code is written on our hearts.

I know this isn’t funny really, but I still got a chuckle from your last question “should they be killed by the government for their actions”? Well, of course not, for starters. Even if Christians retained Levitical code, our governments (with the exception of many of the Islamic nations) are secular, and the thing that I found ironically funny is that I think it is much more likely that those who believe in sexual morality, and endeavor to not live in sin would be the ones that the government starts rounding up and killing because of hatred for Christians and Christianity. Never met a sin that the government wouldn’t go out of it’s way to enshrine in law and protect with all due diligence.

Suggestion.

Let this thread rest and see if the person comes back or not.

Question may have been answered for them and they never return.

(so lets avoid undue posting …)

Let those without sin cast the first stone.

Matt 9:12-13 he heard this and said “those who are well dont need a physician, bit the sick do. Go and learn the meaning of these words, I desire mercy, not sacrifice. I did not cone to call the righteous but sinners”

Whats that verse about the speck in anothers eye and a log in your own?

Are you sin free? Ever judge people? Ever lie? Ever have unclean thoughts? Well then get in line with the rest of us sinners for the government to kill us! I dont understand the hate geared towards gays!?

The death penalty in Leviticus for homosexual acts as well as for murder, adultery and abortion was applicable to the Israelites in their time and place to teach them the Law of God. It is not applicable to present times.

By the way, does anyone realize where AIDS actually came from?? Not from sexual acts originally. It was started by people in the African area who hunted and ate monkeys for food. The monkeys carried the AIDS, which apparently causes them no harm. When the meat was ingested (even after cooking), it infected people and originally spread from there. Same is true of a horrible plague causing people to bleed to death internally. Started from monkeys, and even a bite or scratch from them can pass the disease to humans. I don’t think they’ll ascertained how humans pass it, but it can apparently be passed either via respiratory or blood. Just a note that those monkeys have probably had it for centuries, but it finally (AIDS that is) made it to humans. God didn’t smite anyone (gay or straight) with this disease as a punishment. It the means by which it is transmitted which caused it to spread.🤷

A lot if things were punishable by death in the OT times. It may seem harsh, but such was the culture then. They’d chop off your hand for stealing too. However, the OT laws relating to the Old Covenant no longer apply to those in the New Covenant as Christians are.

And the passage in the NT is referring to spiritual death, ie. Mortal sin, and not about physical death.

I feel the original poster is trying to discredit Catholicism, Christianity, and the Bible in one stroke. 🤷

If anyone is in doubt about the right answer, ask yourself what Jesus would do. Moreover, ask the Holy Spirit for proper guidance. The only conclusion would be a resounding NO. The Holy Spirit would **never **condone killing or murder of any kind.

To cite Leviticus 20:13 out of context leads one to a wrong conclusion. One must read all of Leviticus and not cheery pick the passages. Please see Pastor John’s analysis:

allfaith.com/Grace/lev20.html

Please keep in mind the time of Leviticus 20:13 is about 538 BC, according to my sources, and applies to Mosaic Law. No responsible Christian Church toady would consider it applicable to anyone.

The Sixth Commandment, “Thou Shall Not Kill” (KJV), predates Leviticus 20:13 by a wide margin. In 1446 BC, Moses received the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai.

The Ten Commandments apply to all Christians without exception. “Thou Shall Not Kill” is very clear. It does not say no killing except when I feel like it or when two people commit a homosexual act.

By the way, “Thou Shall Not Murder” is not the proper translation of the Sixth Commandment, as some would like to assert, giving license to others to kill due to revenge, hatred, or, in this case, homophobia.

Thus, the Sixth Commandment overrides Leviticus 20:13 in my opinion.

I believe you have quoted that passage out of context with the new testament, I would just like to share with you what I have learned about this issue and than ask you about what you think.

The Law of Moses say’s the following about homosexuality (The part you’ve quoted).
Law of Moses:
Leviticus 18:22

22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

Leviticus 20:13

13 “‘If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.
However the Law of Moses also say’s this about Adultery
Law of Moses:
Leviticus 18:16

16 “‘Do not have sexual relations with your brother’s wife; that would dishonor your brother.

Leviticus 20:10

10 “‘If a man commits adultery with another man’s wife—with the wife of his neighbor—both the adulterer and the adulteress are to be put to death.
Jesus than say’s this in the New Testament -
Gospel of Matthew:
**Matthew 5:17-20

The Law of Moses**

17 Don’t suppose that I came to do away with the Law and the Prophets. I did not come to do away with them, but to give them their full meaning. 18 Heaven and earth may disappear. But I promise you that not even a period or comma will ever disappear from the Law. Everything written in it must happen.

19 If you reject even the least important command in the Law and teach others to do the same, you will be the least important person in the kingdom of heaven. But if you obey and teach others its commands, you will have an important place in the kingdom. 20 You must obey God’s commands better than the Pharisees and the teachers of the Law obey them. If you don’t, I promise you that you will never get into the kingdom of heaven.
Jesus then fulfills the Old Testament here -
Gospel of John:
**John 8:3-11

A Woman Caught in Sin**

3 The Pharisees and the teachers of the Law of Moses brought in a woman who had been caught in bed with a man who wasn’t her husband. They made her stand in the middle of the crowd. 4 Then they said, “Teacher, this woman was caught sleeping with a man who isn’t her husband. 5 The Law of Moses teaches that a woman like this should be stoned to death! What do you say?”

6 They asked Jesus this question, because they wanted to test him and bring some charge against him. But Jesus simply bent over and started writing on the ground with his finger.

7 They kept on asking Jesus about the woman. Finally, he stood up and said, “If any of you have never sinned, then go ahead and throw the first stone at her!” 8 Once again he bent over and began writing on the ground. 9 The people left one by one, beginning with the oldest. Finally, Jesus and the woman were there alone.

10 Jesus stood up and asked her, “Where is everyone? Isn’t there anyone left to accuse you?”

11 “No sir,” the woman answered.

Then Jesus told her, “I am not going to accuse you either. You may go now, but don’t sin anymore.”
I believe that the sexual acts of homosexuality should be seen likewise.

I believe that not one person doesn’t suffer from an immoral desire and that our desires are not who we are, because we make that choice.

“Telling us to obey our instincts (our desires) is like telling us to obey ‘people.’ People say different things; so do our instincts. Our instincts are at war … Each instinct, if you listen to it, will claim to be gratified at the expense of the rest.” - C.S. Lewis

I hope I have helped HabemusFrancis, please feel free to reply/refute any of it.

God Bless

Please don’t tell me this is a question that warrants serious consideration or contemplation. Of course, we should not kill anyone.

Do your research and soon you will find that AIDS is not target to a particular group of people, regardless of age, gender or any other social or demographic factor.

At last, if you have any kind of prejudice towards homosexuals or worse homophobia, please seek help and get information urgently. It is not normal to have these ideas, if you have access to the Internet and you had basic education. There is people who don’t have access to this information, but if you are posting here, you clearly could do better than that. Cheers
Your response was well stated.

I can’t believe I am reading this.

Are the “new atheists” really so ignorant of true Christian teaching? 🤷

Only if adulterers, those who disrespect their parents, blasphemers, etc. were also exected. It is a given that only those without sin would be allowed to carry out the executions.

👍👍👍
This is not true. The book of Leviticus gave a code for a specific people for a specific time. Unless one is an Israelite living in 2000 BC, there is no need to follow anything for the reason of being in Leviticus alone. (No stoning or sacrifing bulls or building of arks.)
