Osama attacked us because he thought he could. He had delusions of grandeur.
I think you need to read this:

Has the Fed been audited? Not that I know of. So what did he get DONE?
Yes it has been audited.

AND

List of legislation sponsored by Ron Paul:

You’re right Romney said what was done in Mass was what they wanted and it worked for them at the state level. So you think states have no rights to do as they wish other than the special powers reserved for the feds?
They have the right, but it has been a massive failure.
How do you know Paul is the only one who supports a free market in health care? My understanding is that all of the Republican candidates support a market driven, patient oriented approach.
Tell me who else would support abolishing Medicare? Maybe Rand Paul? That’s about it. Not that he does support it, but he’s not opposed to it either. He doesn’t advocate for it because he’s more of a proponent of gradual changes to get what he wants.

Heard of the Paul Plan to Restore America?
Yes, I have… I am pretty sure it is full of cuts. Like I said, I agree on many points, but from a democratic perspective, which is what I began this point with, he isn’t leading on issues, he simply says no. I am not saying I disagree with him, but he will be attacked for that in the election.
He’s taking his hands off of the issue because he doesn’t believe it’s the role of government to decide that. However, personally, he is against both of these.

Our occupation there is killing people everyday. Do you sit well with that?
This is exactly what I said. He takes his hands off of every social issues regardless of its importance. That is wrong. It is a fundamental human right to life, and there are states all over the country who would, if left up to them, allow abortion. He won’t do anything to stop that. Imagine if there weren’t a national amendment to prevent the discrimination against blacks or on the legality of slavery. It would be an entirely different world. When it comes to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, the federal government must step in to prevent acts that are fundamentally apposed with unalienable right to life. Ron Paul is wrong on this issues. I am a person who lives in America not an American who happens to be a person. The right to life is much more important than the Constitution, as the Constitution was made by man while the right to life was made by God.

No, I don’t like being at war. No, I don’t like that our soldiers are dying. If it were up to me there would be no wars. But they are soldiers who volunteered to serve the United States of America, and being a soldier they may have to lay their life down for our freedom. I am very grateful to every soldier that serves, and I think they would agree that that is part of their job. That is what we are talking about here. America was attacked on 9/11/01. It is over. It is done. Almost 3,000 people died. There are people in the region who are working to get nuclear weapons to kill not only our soldiers and Israel’s soldiers but also to kill your kid who you just tucked into bed, you neighbor’s kid who you saw running around outside earlier today, you pregnant friend who is excited to have a baby soon. The region we are fighting would love nothing more than to see a flat New York City and children dying from radiation. I am not saying that we start provoking wars with Iran, but allowing them to get a nuclear weapon or a nuclear program would result not only in the death of thousands of American and Israeli soldiers but potentially millions of innocent people as well.

We can leave the region. Perhaps they will accept our sincere apology and stop hating us. That could rebuild our relationship with them, who knows? But the fact of the matter is we don’t know, and if they have a nuclear weapon it will already be too late.

Yet they can’t say that he’s lied about getting troops out of Iraq or flip-flopping on issues.

You realize that murder is against state law? Yeah, the states handle murder, not the Feds. Interesting, right?

They wouldn’t attack us if they had it. They want it for defense. If they attack someone with that weapon then they will be wiped out. The Soviets had 30,000 nuclear weapons. They were our enemies. What stopped them from attacking us? The threat of retaliation. That’s all it takes. We need to build a strong defense and stop invading other nations. If we want to stop spreading disdain, then we need to stop telling other sovereign nations what to do.

We can pull out so we can stop contributing to the spread of that ideology and then because we save so much money by bringing the troops home we can better build up our defenses.
You seriously don’t understand the Middle East. THey have been at war for a century. They have textbooks, according to Michelle Bachman, that say if you have 9 Jews and kill 3 of them, how many Jews do you have left? They are a region built around tradition and honoring your parents by accepting their views. Simply leaving won’t end their hatred towards us.

I guess you’ve never read The Revolution, A Manifesto by Ron Paul. In it he cites a source that shows that when Osama bin Laden tried to recruit based on religion, that it did not work. In fact, his best recruitment came by stressing the US occupation in Saudi Arabia and the sanctions of Iraq.

Furthermore, Iraq had no suicide bombers before the US invasion, and there was no al-Qaeda there. Now, after the occupation, the opposite is true. We have to face this already, our occupation creates a backlash. The CIA has admitted this for decades.

Take a look at this and tell me what you think:

The Democratic party cannot use the inconstancy of Gingrich or Romney, as doing so would say individual mandates are wrong, which they support.
You realize that murder is against state law? Yeah, the states handle murder, not the Feds. Interesting, right?
Which is why I used slavery! Slavery was an accepted institution in many states just as abortion is now. Because slavery was wrong and against the fundamental rights of humans yet still permitted and encouraged by many states, the Fed Govt. had to step in. That is what is happening with abortion. Abortion is allowed in many states like California. Murder is not an accepted institution anywhere. If there were a state legalizing the murder of all children under the age of five I would hope the Federal Govt. would step in as well.

You are becoming a Constitution literalist.

You really want to risk that? You have no reason to believe that if we make them angry they won’t use it on us or Israel. They have a hot temper.

Okey, the difference between the Soviet Union and Iran or Iraq is that they don’t have people who are so dedicated to their country that they are willing to commit suicide and train their children to commit suicide in the name of Allah. I am afraid that retaliation will not work. You don’t make nuclear weapons simply for defense. If I had a bomb in my home just in case someone broke in it would be illegal. A nuclear weapon is unnecessary.

Allowing them to do what they want and giving them the potential to start a nuclear war is an entirely different thing, my friend. That is like giving a paranoid schizophrenic a gun because not giving him one hurts his feeling and makes him angry with us. The problem is trusting the man once he has the gun and it is too late to take it away from him.

Ummm, that’s the Democrat Party platform. 🤷
Ummm… actually I had quoted words from the introduction to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Faithful Citizenship document to which Estesbob replied to which you replied. But nevermind.

That ship has sailed.

But they forgot to add, “imagine if we became so angry with Chinese the Chinese presence that some of our most loyal and dedicated Americans hijacked planes and killed innocent Chinese civilians to send a message to the Chinese government that we don’t like them here.”

I am talking about Iran getting nuclear weapons and you are talking about the American presence in Iraq. I don’t support the American presence in the Middle East pre-9/11, but we are living in the post-9/11 world. It would be nice to go back but unfortunately we can’t.

Sure they can. Inconsistency is inconsistency. It can be played by opponents.

States used nullification to fight against the Fugitive Slave Law, while the federal government supported that law. Besides, what of subsidiarity?

Probably because we never invaded the Soviet Union. Occupation stirs up negative feelings We won’t find peace through it. Besides, even North Korea has nuclear weapons. They’re often portrayed as crazy too, right? Why haven’t they used it?

Again, there has been only one country to use a nuclear weapon. Yet we want that country to decide who can or can’t have them so they can’t be used? That’s ironic.

I will watch the video, but I don’t see how this responds to my post. We aren’t talking about recruiting militants here, we are talking about the importance of tradition in the Islamic world.
And I’m telling you that the reason they attack us isn’t because of tradition, it’s because we try to impose our will in their lands.

States used nullification to fight against the Fugitive Slave Law, while the federal government supported that law. Besides, what of subsidiarity?
Ron Paul would have supported enforcing the Fugitive Slave law as it was between state lines, but what does that have to do with anything?

The local government should have the right to establish what is best for their people. Are you saying abortion is just for some communities?

North Korea doesn’t use it because they don’t have a reason to; however, their having nuclear weapons does make me a little uneasy.

I am not supporting occupying countries, but allowing dangerous governments to have nuclear weapons and attack the United States citizens are valid reasons to do so. We cannot change what pre-9/11 administrations did. We are post-9/11 and must deal with our current situation. To think that simply withdrawing our troops front eh region will make them our allies or even no longer enemies is wishful thinking at best.

And I’m telling you that the reason they attack us isn’t because of tradition, it’s because we try to impose our will in their lands.
So then, after 9/11, you would have proposed we be like, “Osama, Osama, we get your point, we are leaving now, Mr. Osama. Sorry to have overstayed our welcome?”

We are now at war with them. Israel has been at war with them for a century over issues that are entirely cultural and religious. They dislike us because we support Israel, too. That is shy they were claiming it was a religious war in the beginning. This is more complicated than them not liking our embassies.

So because of 9/11 we should invade countries and rile up even more hatred?

What? The Fugitive Slave Law was a federal law. He would oppose it.
The local government should have the right to establish what is best for their people. Are you saying abortion is just for some communities?
No, but abortion isn’t going to be overturned at the federal level. Leaving it to the states is more of a strategic move.
North Korea doesn’t use it because they don’t have a reason to; however, their having nuclear weapons does make me a little uneasy.
I’m fine with it making you uneasy, but you have to understand why Iran would want it.

Our occupation is why terrorists hate us. We can’t be blind to this fact.

Ron Paul supported going after Obama. Invading Afghanistan is a different matter entirely.

We should stop giving federal aid to Israel as well.

The right to life is much more important than the Constitution, as the Constitution was made by man while the right to life was made by God.
Ron Paul understands that the only way we will win on the abortion front is to return it to the states and fight it there. In the meantime you can promote a constitutional amendment to end abortion all you want, but the quickest way to cut back on the loss of life is to go to the states. This does not rule out the ability to amend the constitution, it’s just a shortcut to limit the numbers as quickly as possible.

Then, imo, you have to look at it this way as well. Life is precious at conception, birth…no matter what age. There are no murder laws in the constitution.

The Civil War was not about slavery, initially. Lincoln even campaigned on a promise to NOT do anything about slavery if elected. He took Andrew Johnson, a southern Democrat and slave owner as his Vice President. The Civil War was fought, from a northern perspective, over the preservation of the union.

I know the history of the war… but the federal government did declare that slavery was illegal. It was not left up to the southern states. You could technically say that it was with the amendment of the constitution, which is what I propose for abortion. Paul wants to leave it up to the states. I think the Constitution should be ratified so that the states don’t have a choice.

How could we have fought Al Qaeda and had our first attempts to kill Bin Laden had we not gone into Afghanistan where he was located?

Show me. Prove to me that the federal government declare slavery to be illegal prior to the Emancipation Proclamation. The EP didn’t even declare slavery illegal, but rather IMMORAL. You can’t, because the Congress had passed the Corwin Amendment and Lincoln was in the process of advocating for it to be ratified. In fact, it WAS ratified by Ohio and as such is still considered a live Amendment, yet unratified.

And regarding leaving it up to the states. I guess the GOP plan of striking down abortion in one fell swoop has worked so glaringly well over the last 38 years that we should keep down that path.
