I give up on the United States. I’ll not fly its flag again.

It’s also the crazy libertarianism that infects both parties----skewing each toward a goofy, antihuman, me-only philosophy of the human individual.

Get a hint: this is decadence. This creates huge amounts of social pollution (crazy kids, divorces, drugs, divorce fall-out, silly-azed voting, schools that are political indoctrination centers. . . it goes on).

My ultimate loyalty is to Jesus, to God, to the church founded by Jesus.

I feel the same way - I feel so out of place in this country now, I don’t even like opening my eyes to look at it anymore, or breathe its air. It’s like the very atmosphere is polluted, all things tainted. And so many people celebrating in a rainbow of joy.

All I want to do is find some place to beg Our Lord to pour out His Mercy upon us poor sinners - I try to remember that where sin abounds, God’s grace abounds even more. Misery attracts Mercy.

It’s a call to arms not a moment to give up. I too am sickened that the America I grew up in has become a cesspool of sexual depravity sanctioned by the government. Ever since no fault divorce was passed and contraception okayed by many “churches” it’s been a downward slide to this moment in time.

Friday, June 26, 2015 was a true Black Friday for America. But, like the abortion fight, we can be a major influence if we stand strong against governmental coercion in our religious institutions. If we don’t stand to fight where will we run to? The whole world has become infested with the “me-first” attitude that has allowed all this. Is it any wonder that many young people are eyeing Islam as the answer since they stand firm on moral issues where their apostate “Christian” churches don’t. This is the time to evangelize America not give up on her. Souls are at stake here, after all, not just individual or religious freedoms.

With all seriousness, though, you’re frustrated with America. That’s fine. But, as a Catholic, you won’t find peace in any worldly nation. Our only true citizenship lies in Heaven - as citizens of the Kingdom of God. Remember that. Our job here? To do our best to show others the way to get to the Kingdom. Be the hands and feet of Jesus to everyone you meet.

Sure, the US and the rest of the West have been turning their backs on Christ. But do you know why? Because the voices of the world have been more successful in spreading their messages than the Church has. Seriously… even 10 years ago, shows like “2 Broke Girls”, if even shown, would get the 9:30/8:30 central slot on TV. Today? The show leads off primetime. And while the show can be funny, it is not something that children should be watching.

To put it into better perspective, “The Simpsons” has been on TV for 25 years. Its first season aired at the same time as “The Cosby Show”'s last season. When the show first aired, it was considered one of the most controversial shows of its time. Today, it’s probably one of the most family friendly (regardless of opinions of some CAF members). Has the show changed? Not a bit. What has changed is the content of the other programming on TV. The content of TV surronding “The Simpsons” went from “The Cosby Show”, “Family Matters”, and “Malcolm in the Middle” in the '80s and '90s to “Modern Family”, and “2 Broke Girls”, with “How I Met Your Mother” finishing a year ago.

For further reference, it was considered a scandal in the 1950s when Lucille Ball was pregnant - by her husband (and TV co-star). “Spouses” on 1950s TV shows didn’t even share a bed - they were in twin beds separated by a nightstand. Sex was something that wasn’t even to be implied between “married” couples on TV, let alone brought up for discussion with the TV “children”. On today’s comedies, all that is talked about is sex - and promiscuity is considered a virtue.

That was part of the problem. Instead of teaching children that sex is something beautiful for married couples, society tried to hide all mention of sex in the closet. Two weeks ago I joined the Patriotic Degree of the Knights of Columbus, and during the exemplification, I learned what patriotism is all about for Catholic men in the United States today. My Order is the one who inserted “Under God” into the Pledge of Allegiance. We supported Proposition 8 in California. We have done so much work in the service of Truth here in the USA and abroad. Imagine if the Order as a body gave up on America!

No, we will strive ever longer to preach the Gospel to our countrymen, and stand up for religious freedom and all the other tenets which Catholics hold dear. It is our duty and obligation as followers of Christ and as good citizens.

Your order should work to get it removed now that the US has government has embraced sodomy! I don’t think we should give up but I see no reason to support the government of the US. You mention Prop 8. That was made null by the courts. I voted for an amendment to my state constitution. That was made null by the courts.

Voting in the current system is getting us nowhere. I actually think withdrawing your consent can achieve a lot. All political systems are really a small elite who hold power because the vast majority consent to it. The bottom line is we need a radically different approach at this point. Voting and lobbying officials isn’t going to change a thing.

My vote does not count. I have been voting since I was 18. I gave it up because my blood pressure was too high leading up to election day, and watching the results. Now I go out and have a nice meal on election day. Who cares who is running, all politicos are the same lying, power hungry scoundrels. Worthless.
