Dem strategist Rosen: Ann Romney ‘never actually worked a day in her life’ [VIDEO]

This is not about the economic worth of stay at home moms, you can’t move the goal post mid game. The point of the faux outrage on the right is the idea that Rosen implied being a stay at home mom is not real work. She did not. She did however say, quite rightly, that Ann Romney has never had to make the kinds of economic decisions or faced the sort of problems that a woman with or without kids in the workforce who makes 25 grand a year at a dead end job has had to make every single day. So the idea of going to her for any information on that subject is ridiculous.

I was a SAHM for many years. Believe me, I was involved in economic issues, family finances, and economy in general. I became involved in many community projects, PTA, etc.

I currently work at a dead-end job. I’ve been here almost 8 years. I make a little more the 25K, but considerably less than 50K. I raised two kids on that salary. I love my job and hope to stay here many more years.

I don’t think you can broad-brush women like that. If Ann R. talked to many women, she can certainly empathize with their struggles. All of us can learn from talking and working alongside one another.

I was pretty young in the 1970’s but nothing Rosen actually said or implied in the exchange harked by to that IMHO. You can’t go on about women’s job numbers and then proffer as your adviser a woman who’s never had to concern herself personally with any of that. It’s like asking a teacher about nurses’ problems or a banker about surgeons’ issues.

No it is not. A teacher or a nurse is a profession. A woman is a human being.

The Right tries to score political points off of what Rosen didn’t actually say and the the Left predictably has a panic attack and disavows everything. This was an economic discussion. This had nothing to do with the merits of working mothers. This is about the fact that Ann Romney has never had to balance an outside of the home career with raising her kids. She’s never had to go to a boss to beg for time off. She’s never had to figure out who’s going to take care of her kids when she works overtime. She’s never had to worry about how many extra hours she’ll have to put in to pay for the recital and the field trip and the school clothes and the soccer equipment. She’s never had to worry about scrounging up cash for co-pays. And she’s never had to worry about disappointing her kids in ways large and small because work come first. She has never had to make these decisions. Why, because she’s been wealthy enough not to be forced to do so. This is not the woman you go to in a sincere effort to discover what concerns the modern day working mother. Rosen shouldn’t have apologized. She shouldn’t have even clarified. She should however have suggested those on both sides of the aisle take some classes in listening and comprehension.

Please stay on topic - Rosen never said any of that.

Following her line of logic, she’s never been a SAHM, so she can’t speak to what they struggle with. She’s never had MS, so she can’t speak to that struggle. Maybe she’s had breast cancer, that I don’t know.

This is so much more than the GOP is ever willing to offer when they make offensive statements. Rick Santorum still owes the entire nation of Denmark an apology for saying the elderly there need to wear special bracelets to avoid being euthanized if they go to the hospital. Alan West is currently running amuck claiming that the entire Congressional Progressive Caucus are Communists (which is worthy of a thread itself).

All this outrage just show how desperate the GOP is for a woman’s issue they can champion. Unfortunately, there is nobody taking the other side, so how can it really be an issue?

The GOP needs to deal with its own women problems: Women = Womyn = Wyrm = Catepillers! - Do you think that’s where Reince Priebus got the idea or have I been reading too much Tolkien?

Agreed. Rosen choose to attack with words a woman, wife, mother, who has
been battling MS for many years - and right, then the breast cancer. Five sons,
more than a dozen grandchildren but Ann Romney knows NOTHING about the
concerns of women, regarding life, health, finances? Sure, Hilary.

This attack, so arbitray, so stupid, so insulting is a peek at the thinking of the
inner circle of obama-think. It’s no surprise to me.

This type of attack, IMHO - is the most offensive & disrespectful. You don’t mess with Mom’s. My Grandma would’ve had a wooden spoon ready for this Rosen Lady.

Those were the days. I still wouldn’t give them up for anything. I know you are really making a lot of sacrifices for your little one.

We had to make hard economic choices in order for me to stay at home. It was worth it.

In Hillary’s defense, she wasn’t that far off. Well-to-do women in my state tended to be society women, with at least a part-time cleaning woman, and who did just that - socializing, being a member of the Junior League, a patron of the arts, etc.

A woman with a professional degree would, like her, likely prefer to exercise the abilities God gave her.
