What’s to apologize for? Stating a fact? Is there an insult in calling someone a stay at home mom? That appellation never offended me. Seriously people…:rolleyes:

The basis is of the “challenge” of Ann Romney’s role is “she’s not qualified to comment because she doesn’t work”.

Ann Romney may point out how the the debt burden could affect the future of women’s children, or the jobs that have been lost for women since Obama took office, but I have never heard her use the words ‘Obama is waging a war on women’ - where has she said that?

Why should it be challenged that Ann decided to stay at home to look after her 5 children, why is this something that even needed to be brought up by Rosen? 5 million women stay at home to look after their children, it is not rare or based on wealth of family.

Romney said the real war was on women’s jobs or did some ear canals just get conveniently obstructed? Everybody’s doing the word play dance to avoid looking at the real issues; even the Democrats. Pretty soon some lame apology’s going to be trotted out. Seriously, women voters aren’t daft guys - never have been.

Rosen did not just call Ann Romney ‘a stay at home mom.’ If she did, there would not have been this uproar.

I personally don’t like the word ‘war’ used on either side, but I think it is more understandable to regard jobs in this instance, which Romney was saying, than the Democrat accusation that the Republicans have a ‘war on women’ because they may be pro life and want conscience protection in ObamaCare. Romney also did not use the phrase ‘war on women.’

May I point out that Obama is winning that war?

From January 2009 through March 2012, there has been a net job loss of 740,000. That number is based on data maintained by the Bureau of Labor Statistics and includes non-farm payroll jobs. Filtered by gender, the picture is alarming. Women lost 683,000 jobs during the period, accounting for nine of every 10 jobs lost.

It was challenged specifically because candidate Romney, in defining what he refers to as Obama’s ‘real war on women’, cited primarily the loss of women’s jobs. In the interview Rosen was responding to a question prefaced by comments on the poor recovery of women’s jobs.

She began her response by referring to Romney’s above-mentioned strategy, and in the context of Romney’s own admission that he gets reports on what women really care about from his wife, pointed out that that Mrs Romney is hardly the person to give such insight since she has never held a job outside the home.

Of course, most of the pundits whose heads are exploding on their blogs, already know all of this and it’s likely they understand it fully well. What is perhaps less clear to said pundits, is exactly how Romney makes a better choice for president than Obama - even from a purely conservative perspective. Far easier to have fake conniptions over supposed attacks on stay at home moms, it seems.

So what’s the problem with Rosen pointing out that Mrs Romney has never been personally involved in that war? The comment would not have been necessary (or justified) had Romney not put his wife out there as his resource person for these concerns.

Puny because if the Republicans restart the “War on Women” with this, it will be Rosen Who? vs. transvaginal ultrasound mandates, retrogressive birth control rethinks and Rush Limbaugh’s 3-day “slut” hate-tirade. I think the GOP had better get some powder before they worry about keeping it dry.

Rosen did not point out Ann Romney was not involved in “that” war.

Rosen expanded the conversation to all women, not just “working” ones.

Her comments…

“…women care more about the economic well being of their families and the like” and "…the kinds of economic issues that a majority of the women in this country are facing in terms of how do we feed our kids, how do we send them to school and how do we — why we worry about their future.’

…is not just referring to working women, but women in general and their concerns with the economy.

She even said so herself, today.

it is inconceivable to me that the echoing of vile insults was defended and excused for pages on end…
