Democratic response to Trump's speech: He's 'Wall Street's champion'

President Obama got more contributions from Wall Street than any other presidential candidate. Hillary Clinton was Wall Street’s pick because she was the status quo candidate, yet Trump is “Wall Street’s champion?”

Selective outrage at its best.
I think you missed what the governor said. He spoke about Trump’s executive orders that have made it harder for people to afford a mortgage and how he has begun the process of the deregulation of Wall St and choosing so many billionaires and Wall St insiders for his cabinet.

Trump’s a “sore winner,” still trying to justify how he got in the White House when Hillary (who he promised to lock up) won the popular vote.

“Sore loser” my foot. :Dr
Google “Electoral College” and you will find your reason Trump is POTUS and not Clinton.

They keep harping on the so-called popular vote. Look where Hillary is. There’s your so-called popular vote. Test: Is she in the White House? I know its a tough question, yet needs to be asked of those still harping on a so-called popular vote.

And even more troubling, you and your Republican allies in Congress seem determined to rip affordable health insurance away from millions of Americans who most need it.
Does the Affordable Care Act needs some repairs? Sure it does. But so far, every Republican idea to replace the Affordable Care Act would reduce the number of Americans covered, despite your promises to the contrary.
Affordable health insurance? The National Federation of Independent Businesses, an organization that represents nearly 11,000 entrepreneurs in New York state alone, said it has yet to find a single member whose health-care costs went down under ObamaCare.

Every Republican idea to replace the ACA would reduce the number of Americans covered? The ACA did that on its own! The number of Americans who signed up for new Obamacare was less than the number the federal government predicted would sign up, and is way less than the number whose insurance policies were cancelled as a result of the overhaul.

Despite [the President’s] promises to the contrary? All anyone had to do to confirm that the ACA was sold on a pack of lies was to look at the Obama administration’s changing storyline once parts of the bill began landing in the Supreme Court. Because the only way for the court to uphold the law was by confirming the president wasn’t being truthful when he was selling it to us.

Remember the individual mandate and how the White House swore it wasn’t a tax?

Remember “If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor. Period. If you like your health care plan, you will be able to keep your health care plan”?

What was not said verbally but was said with the Democrat’s choice of former Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear was (in my view) this:

“OK, OK, We finally get it. We ignored white voters, especially working class southern white voters, and focused to much on minority, LGBT, identity politics, and that is why we lost the election.”
The governor spoke of our diversity and embracing people who are different than us. I think picking Gov Beshear was to a large extent to highlight how Democratic policy such as Obamacare has been advantageous to the poor and working class in a red state such as KY.

And you’re assuming, of course, that Obamacare will not be replaced by something better.

Please explain how putting America first is a bad thing? Are we supposed to put Mexico first? Should Islam be first? Canada? Where does America fall on that list?
Why have a ranked list? Haven’t you seen all the satirical videos that start out:

“Dear Mr. President, welcome to this introduction video about the Netherlands…We totally understand it’s going to be America first, but can we just say, the Netherlands second.”

“This is a message from the government of Belgium…So, OK, American first, but Belgium second.”

“This is a message from the government of Sweden…We totally understand that American should come first, but can Sweden please be second.”

Sure, whatever makes you feel better. What we observed last night in DT is that he was very presidential and even the mainstream media outlets and CNN agree, not to mention the majority of the viewing audience.
Last night we saw what PresidentvTrump is capable of doing,he just needs to get off the knee jerk reaction to the media.Last night was a awesome move in that direction:thumbsup:

The left are globalists,Obama said and did everything in his power to diminish the U.S. throughout the world.
How refreshing to actually have a president ,once again who loves and is proud of this country and wants to put us first.Gotta love it!👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

And Christianity is kind of globalist, too, isn’t, it? It’s a good thing that Christianity is for all humans and we aren’t ranked according to country. We don’t have to say, “American Christians should be put first and all other Christians and other faiths in other countries should be second or third or fourth…”

And what did Jesus say (Matthew 19:30) about being first? “But many who are first will be last, and the last will be first.”

😉

Straw man argument…

If you don’t want to put America first, why don’t you move to the country you do want to put first?

My family has been living here in what is now the US for almost 400 years (since 1630) and I do appreciate the freedoms that my ancestors fought for in the Revolutionary War, and the Civil War, and World War II, etc. But I still don’t agree with “America first” rhetoric.

Didn’t watch the rebuttal, both parties are corporate shills.
I watched the address and the rebuttal but I tend to agree with the idea that both sides are corporate shills.

What was sad was Ann Coulter on Twitter insulting the Governor by implying he was some sort of hayseed. Not nice, Ann, not nice. YES, Republicans won, Ann, alright? Now quit the nasty comments and try to make sure that Trump keeps fulfilling his promises like he has done so far.

Sheesh. 🤷

Furthermore, a Democrat (Clinton) gave us what may have been our only surplus. Trump made no mention whatsoever of the d-word (deficit.)

Trump basically broadcast to the world that he’ll out-deficit spend W. So much for being “conservative.” 🤷
For better or worse, I think Republicans are willing to forgive Trump the expected deficit coming up.

They accept already that he is not THAT kind of “conservative Republican.”

This coming from someone who did not vote for either side in the election.

What a shock  that the opposition, still reeling from the election “fix” not working in their favor, has something negative to say. But, after the past eight years, why should we believe anything they say?

We really should register as democrat or republican, or even better, liberal or conservative here - rather than “religion” though the nature of threads such as these make things rather clear.

I voted for neither side this election-----and I would rather have Trump in office than crooked, baby-killing, ultra-leftist, trigger-happy Hillary in power--------but the MSN did ask a pertinent question------

“Good speech and ideas…but how are you going to PAY for it?”

It IS a good question, Jeanne…HOW? :p:o
