In what frat house do over 500 people die of abuse, torture, and neglect during Rush Week?
Do you have a link for this? One reason I used the wikipedia article because as horrible as that is, it appeared to be one death. 500 people? And calling it a gulag? Really, with all due respect and I do totally respect your view, I will listen to shows like Democracy Now and so on. A lot of people in Iraq thank us for being there, Abu was Saddam’s former prison. Reading that was back in 2004, I’m pretty sure Nightline and those kinds of news shows did plenty on Abu.

However, bringing up some cases, one might as well say, “Drone Strikes have killed so many, why isn’t that the main story” and maybe there is a point there.

American tax payer dollars were spent on a gulag in Iraq and to pay a bunch of goons who were committing war crimes. So, yes, it should have been covered.

It is purely selective and manufactured outrage. Nothing like this happened when a US Diplomat was killed in Karachi in 2006 after 4 embassy attacks at that facility alone in the previous five years. Where were the panels demanding that Donald Rumsfeld testify or demand to know why there wasn’t enough security for our diplomat? Nowhere.
The embassy attack in Karachi occurred during what is called the ‘war on terrorism.’ American troops were in Pakistan in 2002. Pakistan was a country in a war at the time of the embassy attack in Karachi. Different than to Libya in 2012.

In 2002 did George Bush, secretary of state Donald Rumsfield and United States ambassador to the United Nations John Negroponte go out and blame something for the attack in Karachi like Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Susan Rice went out and blamed the anti Muslim video for days?

Were there scrubbed talking points in discussing the attack in Karachi?

Before the Karachi attack in, did embassy staff ask for more security, like more security was requested for Benghazi embassy? Ambassador Smith asked for more military support which has been documented in emails.

Nobody has the answer to those questions because it was never investigated. We didn’t have congressional hearings about the first, second, third, or fourth attack. Not even after one of our diplomats was killed.

Given the Democrat’s hatred of all things Bush, don’t you think they could have proposed or held hearings if they thought there was a whiff of something that would demean President Bush? The reason they made such a huge deal about Abu Ghraib (where 500 people a week were not killed unless you were talking about when Saddam was in charge) is that it made Bush look bad and further undermined the effort in Iraq.

Gee I find it quite interesting that you have ZERO to say regarding the current subject but must retreat to event nearly a decade ago.

Maybe you have some evidence that Hillary didn’t lie? That Susan Rice wasn’t either lying or duped? That no one really asked for more security?

The reason people made such a big deal about Abu Ghraib is because we were paying for it and it was all being done in our name with the tacit approval of the Bush Administration. Oh yes, I’m sure snatching innocent people off the street for use as human punching bags for our servicemen and allowing roving gangs of US military personnel to rape and murder without fear of reprisal helped the effort. Its not like the Iraqis and Afghans weren’t aware of what was going on before it was made public in the US media. The Bush Administration didn’t need the Democrats to make it look bad; it did that on its own.

I’ve had plenty to say about it and I wasn’t the one who brought up Abu Ghraib.

I’m still waiting for evidence that anyone lied.

Your in the right thread!

I mentioned Abu Ghiraib, it was scandalous, it was during the Bush administration, it got wall to wall coverage. Simple as that. It made me feel very low as an American but the problems were quickly corrected.

Yet no one died.

🤷

It’s called when you don’t have an answer to the LIES, accuse those who disagree with you as playing politics. Bring up past grievances. Anything to avoid answering the REAL question:

WHY THE LIES???

I linked to the wikipedia article, perhaps there was one death and that is deplorable. I’m sure in our prison system deaths occur, that doesn’t make it okay but I’m not making our prison guards in a general sense being some sort of big boogieman.

Again, I mentioned Abu Ghiraib because if we have coverage of that, why not these other things? It really seems to be an argument against freedom of the press, political expression.

I guess every time a Rick Santorum, Sarah Palin, Ted Cruz is criticized, it should be something that is totally unacceptable.

We should have one news source, an American Pravda.

We had the question asked what lies.

Blaming the attack on a video. Seemingly, this is what the ABC talking points article is about. They knew it was a Terror attack. Anymore information, look it up on ABC for oneself.

That is what we saw play out in the last two weeks, as a crude and disgusting video sparked outrage throughout the Muslim world. Now, I have made it clear that the United States government had nothing to do with this video, and I believe its message must be rejected by all who respect our common humanity.

Hey EN found the source of your canned talking points. Repeated almost word for word…just another attempt at the “Squirrel! Squirrel!” distraction technique.

Now that the alphabet soup channels are reporting twelve revisions to the talking points. You can’t close the barn door. THe horse is galloping down the road.

Those have not been established as lies. I believe, in the Bush years, it was referred to by Republicans as “mis-speaking.”

You noticed that too? 👍

Since he quoting them he should be linking to the source.

Bush is gone. Please address the points brought up here.

And it was the Clinton’s who mispoke and demanded the definition of “is.”

Great point about Abu Ghraib. There was near endless coverage of that in the mainstream media, and I believe that Benghazi was worse since it was a terrorist attack where Americans were tortured and killed.

So the lives of 4 Americans are worth more than the lives of over 500 Iraqis?
