Awesome, I just ordered one. šŸ™‚

I spoke with the local Methodist minister yesterday. She agreed to perform a formal blessing over the building and my apartment, so I guess this should all be over soon! I hope, anyway.

The only reason I haven’t had my priest do it is that it’s Methodist property, owned by their church, so we can’t do anything without their permission. I mean I guess I could have a priest come in the middle of the night and do it but it wouldn’t be right to do that… So the Methodists will have to do it their way for now.
A Methodist pastor has no more aothourity than you do when blessing a home! As a matter of fact you will more than likely have more authority than he if your are a devout Catholic! If you feel that you need someone more than it must be a Catholic priest, anyone else has no more authority than you which means you might as well do it yourself! It sounds like you are not as knowledgeble as you should be in the faith. Educate yourseldf more and you will find that with your knowledge and faith you are safe! Good luck and God bless!

Tybourne,

I don’t need to see a psychologist–five other people have seen, heard, and felt the same things as me. The only thing that has happened to me that no one else has experienced is this: On two different occasions I have woken up and felt like something was pressing down hard on my chest, holding me down. When I finally got up, I had bruises on my arms and chest. That’s the scariest thing that has happened and I’m not liking this. But five other people have seen the lights turn on and off by themselves, heard the strange noises, and experienced the same crushing headaches and sudden nausea/dizziness when the presence was around, and felt like they were being stared at by something evil.

I’ll talk to my priest then. Confessions are Saturday so I suppose I can bring it up then…
I would seriously consider finding new lodging. I want to know why if this is true, would you even consider staying. There is no benefit to staying, The property is not owned by you. There is nothing to win or gain by staying. If this place were not avaialble to live, you would find another place to hang your hat, Right?

Also consider that it may not be demonic, but friendly and may be trying to get your attention, or warn you to get out? Anything is possible.šŸ™‚

First off, Methodists aren’t THAT far from Catholics. Second, I don’t need meds. Third, I performed the exorcism today and IT IS GONE. Yes, it’s true, a demon fled from the Methodist Student Center because a layperson commanded it to do so, in the name of God. Fourth, Methodists feel the same way we do: we wouldn’t want a Methodist minister to do a blessing on a Catholic church, would we? Because we don’t think their stuff works. Well, they don’t think ours works. Same deal. Fifth, I took the job as caretaker because we’re all Christians and we all need to work together for the kingdom of God–and also because I had been evicted from my apartment and this town is so small (approx. 500 residents) that there aren’t any other places to live. So I can live here with the Methodists or I can be homeless. Can you blame me, really?

The reason the church is dying is we’re being so petty and attacking each other for minor differences of doctrine that we often forget what it is we have in common: a sincere faith in Jesus Christ and the salvation that He has worked for us.

In any case, I don’t need a priest to get rid of a demon. Anyone who says so is sadly mistaken. Would you like to know why? Here’s why:

:bible1:

Mark 16:16-17 ā€œWhoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned. These signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will drive out demons.ā€

Isn’t the Bible the cornerstone of our Church and our faith? Aren’t we supposed to believe in what it teaches? Well, it teaches that we can cast out demons. So there. If you don’t believe we can cast out demons then you don’t believe the Bible and you might not actually be a Catholic–give that some thought.

Yes, it’s a bad idea to approach a demon if you aren’t a priest because most laypeople don’t have training or knowledge on how to get rid of these things. But with sufficient faith, relying on the name and power of God and His holy angels, and by following the rituals established by the Church FOR LAYPEOPLE (See the exorcism rite of Pope Leo XIII), even I can get rid of a demon.

In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. :signofcross: Amen.
OK for one I come from a long line of Methodist preachers in my family and I was once one and no they are not semiler to the Catholic church at all! Way off! Second its only been a day and you claim that the so called demon is gone even though in a earlier post you talked in reference of blessing the house causing it to be peacefull for a couple of days before it got worse and third I told you myself that you should just do it yourself because the pasotr had do more authority than you do! The only person that would is a priest and last I cannot beleive by your writings that you are a real Catholic! I am not trying to bash you, but youre writings are a little strange causing some red flags!

GoodwellOK,

You made a comment of the church dying yet we have millions of new congrets every year and a new record high for priests! so what are you talking about in reference to the Church is dying? God said himslef that the holy church will never die!

It has now been close to a week since the second exorcism. I’m finally able to walk around the building without anything odd happening, no strange feelings and nothing watching me. I’m convinced that whatever was here is now gone.

Again, when it comes to getting rid of a demon, all Christians have the authority to do so. The Bible says that.

And yes, the Church will never die. ā€œDyingā€ was probably not the best choice of words. But it’s certainly in a sad state of affairs… At least in the US, there has been (and continues to be) an extreme decline in the number of men choosing to pursue the priesthood. That’s what I was referring to–without priests, the Church has no leadership, and it would die without that leadership. I do believe that God will do something to fix the problem, but for now the problem still remains.

Also, according to one of the local priests AND the local Methodist minister, Methodists aren’t all that far from Catholics. At least in relation to other denominations. Their form of worship is more similar to the mass than most other groups, their view of Holy Eucharist isn’t that far off, etc.

And to everyone who keeps asking me why I don’t just move, I already answered that: There’s nowhere else for me to live in this town. I can’t very well leave town because I have to finish school and if I were to move to another town I wouldn’t be able to get back and forth to classes because I don’t have a car. So the only option is the Methodist Student Center. Which seems to be working out just fine now, finally.

Dear GoodwellOK,

I’m so glad you have had the house exorcized twice. Is there anything still strange occuring in the house? If not, your problem has been solved, praise God!

I’m a 21 year old student in Oklahoma. I’m a devout Catholic and planning to apply to the Order of Carmelites as soon as I graduate next year. I recently was hired to be the caretaker of the Methodist Student Center at my college–I have an apartment in the back of the building and I moved in about two weeks ago. Over the past two weeks, I have experienced and witnessed various things that I am convinced are demonic activity. I have also been victim to a number of demonic attacks, as have several of my friends who have visited me in the building.

Initially it was a feeling of being watched from a distance, or feeling as if someone or something was standing right in front of or behind me. Then other things began to happen, on more than one occasion lights have turned themselves on or off and I have heard many strange noises in the building that don’t seem to be natural, including a very loud explosion coming from one end of the building (it was so loud that several workers from the university physical plant came running into the building, afraid it was an explosion in the gas line). I often see things moving out of the corner of my eye. I constantly feel as if I am being threatened/hunted by an evil presence. More than once, I’ve walked into different rooms and felt the presence there, along with an overwhelming heaviness in my body and occasionally lightheadedness or a headache.

This happens at all times of day and night but mostly in the afternoon and at night. It mostly happens while I’m alone in the building (which is most of the time, during the summer) but it has also happened while others have been with me.

Saturday night, three of my friends came over and we attempted to exorcise the demon. I found an exorcism prayer online that is supposedly authorized by the Vatican for laymen to use when satanic or demonic activity is suspected. We all felt the demon leave and we ordered it not to return, invoking the name of God. But Tuesday afternoon I knew it was back. And now it’s worse than ever.

I’m afraid to tell my priest about this. If I tell him, two things could happen: First, he might not believe me. Second, if he believes me he’ll want to come here and do something about it and that would make the Methodists think I’m crazy (I’ve already tried telling the local Methodist minister about it and she didn’t believe me), and I might lose my job.

I pray the chaplet of St. Michael every day and pray the Rosary often as well, both with the specific intention of being freed from demonic influences. But whatever this is, it’s still here and I need it gone.

What can I do about this? Does what I’m describing sound like it could be demonic?

Also, one of the cabinets in my apartment has two VERY disturbing ā€˜faces’ in the woodgrain. I think it’s just my imagination but they’re freaking me out. I’m even afraid to cover them up.

I’m afraid to sleep, I’m afraid to clean the building or do anything here. The only place I feel safe in the entire building is the chapel, because I have felt an angelic presence near the altar.

Can my priest do anything? I know the general steps involved in getting an exorcism approved for a person but what about a building? Is it possible that this demon is following me, or that it might be attached to the building? What should I do?

Please reply with any suggestions you might have. And if you don’t have any suggestions, please pray that I will be protected!
Is it an old building? Old or exposed wiring; mildew behind walls, under the floor or in the ceiling?

You indicated that you say the St. Michael Archangel prayer and the Rosary. This is all good - the use of holy water on a daily basis is also good as well as regular confession and communion.

Eliminate the possible natural causes first. Enure that it is not just a case of the willies or high EM from exposed wires or even accumulated mildew and mold which can cause headaches and other symptoms.

Be careful with excorcism prayers. Only a priest, with the permission of his bishop, can perform an exorcism. We, laypeople can do prayers of deliverance, liberation and healing.

Don’t assume that it is a case of demonic infestation. And remember what Jesus told his apostles when they couldn’t expel a specific demon…prayer and abstinence.

Hope this helps.

Gospa Mir.

Once again… The Bible says that any faithful Christian can cast out demons.

Anyway, it’s gone. So it’s not a big deal anymore. Nothing has happened in over a week and a half – very excited!!! šŸ™‚

I thank God that you no longer seem to be suffering, but demonic situations are very serious, and the more powerful the demon, the more a priest is needed to outcast demons who are causing serious harm.

That is why Latin is vital and so is the priest. To say you don’t need a priest is alarming coming from a Catholic and very dangerous. It isn’t a one size fits all. To say that any Christian has the power is to be ignorant of the power of the sacraments, the power of a priest and to take scripture out of context.

To say you don’t need a priest is sounding more Methodist than Catholic, IMHO.

I don’t think it is important how we perceive demons in a religious manner. It doesn’t matter what religion you are… demons show up when they want to.

I think the Methodist building had some small time negative spirits. They were sent away by the person or persons.

The big time demons are hard to get rid of and need an exorcist. Lucky for that young man he was able to do something about it on his own because they were not demons.

Galandriel my friend, you are right-on the money.

We as lay catholics are only allowed to say prayers of deliverance, liberation and healing but!!!..never to address the demon or converse with it.

The power of the holy orders and the power and backing of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic church - is the authority to command demons!

Spankyg,

No strange smells as far as I’ve noticed.

I did speak with the Methodist minister and was told that she’ll get the elders of her church together and they’ll all come and bless the building, but she’s not sure when–all she could say was it would be before the fall semester starts, mid-August.

So… One of my Catholic friends is coming over and the two of us are going to exorcise the demon. Again. I’ll keep using that exorcism rite I found until it goes away. I’ve already got the whole building blessed with holy water, especially my apartment.

My spiritual director (who I speak with several times per week) has reiterated that once I get it out I have to bind the demon to a physical location, so I’ve picked out a place…

If this doesn’t work, I’ll speak with my priest this week. I’ve already ordered a brown scapular, I’ll have my priest do the investiture ceremony as soon as I get it in the mail. I’m also putting blessed salt around the building in strategic places.

Today something disturbing happened. The center of the building is the sanctuary. Common areas, the kitchen, bathrooms, game room, and my apartment are all built around the sanctuary. And the sanctuary has been the ONLY area where I never felt an evil presence – until today. There has always been a good presence, which I believe to be an angel, near the altar. There was always a very strong sense of security and protection in the sanctuary especially near the altar but today I was in the sanctuary writing a hymn and all of a sudden I knew the demon was there. I felt cold breath on the back of my neck and I had chills going all over. The good presence was gone.

What does this mean? Why would an angel leave, and allow a demon to enter a sanctuary? By the way, we don’t have a Catholic student center on campus (won’t be open until August) so we’ve celebrated mass in this building many times, which I believe helps to keep the sanctuary protected. So what could have happened to allow the evil to enter today?

I will do the exorcism again tonight, with my friend. I’ll keep everyone informed.

You are playing a game with the devil. You should not talk to it or even direct your thoughts to it. That makes the evil spirits stronger. Don’t do any exorcising on your own, leave that to a priest who has been given the authority from the Catholic Church. I have read an approved book and seen a program on EWTN regarding exorcisms. What I am telling you is the truth. If you want to feel safe from the attacks or hinder the attacks you must first get yourself in a state of grace. That means confession in the Catholic Church. Do this often to keep yourself clean, and don’t delay. The devil will fill your mind with excuses to keep you from the sacraments. Secondly, attend Mass at a Catholic Church and pray with all your heart. Go at least once a week, more often if you can. Recite daily prayers, whether its the Rosary, or traditional prayers or even the Stations of The Cross. Bless yourself often with Holy Water and Bless every room. Don’t forget to bless closets and halls, basement areas and attic spaces, even the outside grounds. Keep anything that is not of God out of your house…dirty books, magazines, movies even art. Keep your language clean and don’tlisten to bad music. The devil looks for ways to get in. It doesn’t sound like you are possessed because all the attacks are from the outside. He is trying to scare you, but you have to be strong. Fill your home with everything that is a reminder to you that God is your strength and your guide. Hang crucifixes, holy pictures, and play sacred music and learn and sing the lyrics. Have a Holy Catholic Bible on your nightstand and read it. And it is very important to have a Blessed Scapular with a cord not a chain. I hope this is helpful to you. I have had strange things happen to me years ago in an old house that I had purchased. I heard banging on my walls from one side to the other, the entire length of the house. It didn’t matter what time I went to bed, it always started right after I climbed into bed, whether it was 9 oclock or 2 in the morning. I had black bees in that room appear out of nowhere in the middle of winter and the next day they were all gone. I felt a tugging on my blankets as I lay in bed terrified. At that time I was not the best Catholic, and that is why I was an easy target. My faith is now strong and nothing can bother me. Please take the advice and have a Priest come to your home for a blessing and consider practicing all I’ve recommended. And last but not least, be a humble, caring, and forgiving person these are all the traits that the evil one fears.

Hi Flower, Did you move or did you have a priest do a blessing of the house? Lucy

  1. Firstly, a demon or evil spirit has no power over us, only the power that we give it. When we sin we are essentially consenting with an evil spirit. Go to confession and stay as much as possible in a state of grace.
  2. Secondly, I wanted to ask if you have been involved or exposed either directly or indirectly to a new age practice? Would this have been the case? Sometimes it isn’t clear if something is ā€œnew ageā€ but it might be worth having a read of the following church document so you know if you have. If that is the case then confession, sacramentals (Holy Water, Brown Scapular etc) along with (obviously) frequent Mass and prayer. vatican.va/roman_curia/pontifical_councils/interelg/documents/rc_pc_interelg_doc_20030203_new-age_en.html
  3. Lastly, when you feel afraid when these strange things are happening, offer your fear and discomfort to Jesus for the purpose of saving poor sinners. That way, the demon can either (a) Flee or (b) Save souls through your discomfort and fear. Which option do you think he’ll take? 😃
God Bless you,
SecretSaint

Get a St Benedict crucifix and say his prayer whenever you can.
and you can have a priest bless it also. he is known for getting rid of evil.
he kicked evil’s butt a long time ago and would do it again in a second…

I have faith in Padre Pio to get rid of evil demons from me. I keep a statue of him in my bedroom to remind me that he is with me to protect me from evil.
I also call on Jesus to get rid of the small negative spirits that sometimes can come around me. I also use holy water on myself and my dog for protection. Pets can also get attacked by evil too because if demons can’t get to the person they will attack the pets instead.

Things are still quiet–Thank God! šŸ™‚

To answer some questions: Yes, there is some very old wiring. None exposed that I can tell but there’s a very strong EMF in the breaker room upstairs. And no, there is no mold or mildew built up in the building that is noticeable.

One thing has concerned me, that several of you have said. Several have said (and I’m paraphrasing, not quoting word for word) that it was a spirit, rather than a demon. But there’s no such thing as a spirit! When we die, we don’t stay around here. Our souls go to purgatory and then they either go to Heaven or to Hell. They’re not stuck here, so there’s no thing as ghosts. The things that present themselves as ghosts or familiar spirits or whatever, are actually demons. I will never believe in ghosts because if I believed in ghosts then I would be a horrible Catholic, since if there were human ghosts on Earth that would shoot down the whole notion of purgatory, a fairly important tenet of our beliefs.

Whatever entity was here, it wasn’t my imagination because others experienced it as well. If it wasn’t God, and it wasn’t an angel, and if ghosts don’t exist, then what else is left other than demons?

And for the last time: Pope Leo XIII authorized an exorcism rite for laypersons (text can be found here: catholictradition.org/Angels/michael.htm). It’s not the same as a solemn exorcism. It’s a lay exorcism. It’s much shorter than the solemn exorcism, which only priests are authorized to perform. It doesn’t require the demon’s name or any kind of conversation with the demon, it merely commands it to leave in the name of God. Anyone can do that, because the Bible says very clearly that all baptized Christians can cast out demons with the authority of God.

So, not only does the Bible say that we as Christians have the right to cast out demons in God’s name, but I did so using an approved rite issued by Pope Leo XIII. To my knowledge, that exorcism rite was never revoked by the Vatican, meaning that it is still perfectly valid in the eyes of the church.

Lucy, I never had a priest bless the house. I just decided to quickly get my bedroom stuff out of that room and I slept downstairs. At that time I was not really practicing my faith so I didn’t even think about calling a priest. My mother and aunt had given me some holy water and a Sacred Heart picture of Jesus, for protection. I think it would have been a good idea at that time to go to confession and start practicing my religion again. It was very scary because I was a widowed young 23 year old mother with a three year old child. My son never heard anything.during the banging on wall episodes. I checked on him numerous times and he was sound asleep. Soon after I sold the house, this was less than two years of ownership. Before I purchased the house, I found out that the previous 3 or 4 owners lived there for only two years as well. I am positive that an evil spirit was in that house and I am positive that my falling away from the church is what led me to be vulnerable to the evil ones attacks.
