You do realize that by condoning what the GOP is doing, you are essentially throwing the American democratic process under the bus in favor of rule by oligarchy.
Democratic process? One party makes the rules and won’t let the other party negotiate?

If Obamacare is the law, how come the administration has decided on their own to ignore portions of that same law? If the administration is allowed to do that, why not Congress?

You do know that Congress is made up of two chambers, right?

In all charity, my guess is that this is something you simply failed to realize and am glad to have had this opportunity to enlighten you.

Peace

Tim

Republicans voted to defund ACA, then offered to delay the Vitter Amendment and individual mandate, (Barack Obama has delayed the employer mandate), and then the House offered to fund the parks, part of D.C. government and Department of Veterans Affairs.

Where have most of the democrats tried to compromise?

Barack Obama gave exceptions and waivers to various groups, so why not give a permanent exemption from the ACA for the rest of the America?

One is almost never enlightened by snarky comments.

Are you telling me that what the Dem and Repub leaders are doing in sheltering their caucuses from having to vote on certain things is unconstitutional, or do you mean it’s contrary to your own concept of what’s democratic and what isn’t?

Personally, I would prefer to see all members of congress vote on all issues and be accountable for their votes. But you know, when Harry Reid refused to allow his party members to vote on Obamacare repeal 40 times in the past months and refuses to allow them to vote on funding the national park service, the National Institutes of Health, the VA and otehrs, I recognize it’s part of their right to do it, however little I like it.

And when Obama and Reid totally rule what congress does or doesn’t do, can you really be all that indignant about “oligarchy”? Or does your hatred of Republicans simply overwhelm any sense of balance you might otherwise have?

Huh??

Under the Constitution, the Budget bills originate in the House. The House has passed and forwarded such bills to the Senate.

The Founding Fathers specifically granted the House the ‘purse strings’ of the government, so how exactly is it oligarchic for them to do exactly what the Constitution and the Founding Fathers tasked them to do?

If the Senate fails to pass the budget bills, and if the executive branch refuses to even negotiate, whose fault is that exactly?

Sorry to disapoint you, but it is the DEMS that are throwing the American people under the bus so that Obama can have one-man-rule. 🤷

Mint those platinum coins already and pay the bills. We’ll be better off in the long run.

Actually all the Republicans are asking for is a one year delay in the individual mandate - not a repeal of ACA. Obama did the exact same thing (only illegally) for the employer mandate.

I think we have been seeing this interruption of the government wrongly. First examine the practical aspects of the shutdown everybody in Washington (Congress the administration Dems and Repubs) agreed troops need to be paid. They tend to get unruly for the ruling class if they don’t. Read your history. They also did not harp too much about what exactly was important functions.

There were some entertaining and comical scenes like the park police trying to keep WWII vets in wheel chairs from storming a public monument in their honor. As folks pointed out there was more security at the monument berrycades then in Benghazi but hey what difference does it make now?

Second, it was a bi-partisan effort shrank the bloated and do nothing federal government bureaucracies Republicans giving all the credit to Democrats, Democrats giving all the credit to Republicans. If only they could keep it this way. And think, if the State and City governments stepped up to the plate and decree the same; we could get this country back on a fiscal even keel. Too much to hope for!

There’s a little more to it. The Republicans are asking for that as a condition of funding the government.

Indeed. And, the Democrats are refusing to fund the government, unless they remove any conditions. It’s a two-way street. When the President and Senate say “we won’t negotiate” over and over again, it is pretty tough to cast the blame on the House, who has submitted more than one compromise.

Not quite. The House has submitted bills that would fund other items - such as National Parks and the NIH - separately, and the Senate has flatly refused to even vote on them.

But the Republican’s aren’t negotiating, they’re engaging in coercive bargaining and it’s counter-productive.

Obama remains defiant and unwilling to compromise despite the looming threat of a government shutdown. That’s how I would have written the headline.

But the Republican’s aren’t negotiating, they’re engaging in coercive bargaining and it’s counter-productive.
Nonsense. They’ve offered to negotiate and the offer has been refused. They’ve created compromised bills, and they’ve been rejected without negotiation. The counter-productivity comes from those who refuse to negotiate.

So that makes coercion acceptable? I think not.

I don’t know where you get that idea from. The continuing resolution Obama wants the House to pass would fund that government at sequester levels - which means that the Republicans had already won the battle over the deficit & debt.

See: ‘We’ve already essentially adopted that Ryan budget’

Anyone claiming that what is happening now has anything to do with the deficit or national debt is feeding you misinformation. It is entirely about a Tea Party oligarchy trying to undermine democracy in America and the GOP leadership being too spineless to stop them.
This is laughable. No,it’s about the Tea Party trying to preserve and restore democracy in this country! Obama is the one undermining our Constitutional freedoms. He said it himself that he wanted to fundamentally change this nation. As the famous quote states…" power corrupts…absolute power corrupts absolutely." Obama is drunk on power and control. He is the most diviisive and small minded occupier of the White House EVEr!

Are any of you liberals or Democrats proud of Obama’s barracades around our veterans’ memorials, or his decision not to fund trials for cancer-stricken children? Personally, I am not surprised at this action b/c I have known that he loathes America and its military. People are pawns to him. What a loathesome creep. He is an angry, petulant despot who is willing to crush dissent. Does anyone get it NOW? If not, what will it take? :nope: Rob
