Democrats are struggling to cope with the rising popularity of the Republican tax law, less than nine months until the midterm elections.

Democrats received a wake-up call of sorts earlier this week when Priorities USA, a top Democratic super PAC, released a memo calling on Democrats to message more consistently against the tax law. The law’s standing has increased in the polls as GOP groups pitch the tax cuts to voters as a solid Republican accomplishment.

So called “tax reform” doesn’t hold a candle to Republican complacency in deaths of children by their unwillingness to tackle meaningful gun control; ironically, claiming to be prolife, but obviously only probirth, because their actions show no compassion after birth.

The day of reckoning is coming in the midterm elections.

Another overly emotional, and irrational, response from a leftist.

If you can calm down, we can start a rational discussion about HOW we can reduce mass shootings while still maintaining our civil rights. For example, despite the last Democrat administration failing to do so, the Republican administration has made bump-stocks illegal…a good common sense gun control measure (that, again, the Democrats failed to implement).

Regarding taxes - looks like I will save between $8-$12,000 in taxes in 2018 in comparison to 2017…I"m loving that!

My guess is that our grandchildren won’t love the tax cut, because they are the ones will have to pay of the additional debt due to the tax cuts. While you may be happy, I am not sure why your happiness is more important than those who have to pick up the pieces? But from a selfish perspective, you are better off.

Immediately jumping to name calling. Well, you can keep your blood money.

It won’t restore the lives that have been lost due to Republican opposition to gun control and it will burden an entire generation of young people with a massive federal debt.

Death & Selfishness is what you get from the GOP and on top of all that they fully funded Planned Parenthood in the last budget.

What gun control measures are Republicans against? Please be specific.

We don’t have an income peoblem, we have a spending problem.

It’s not like the Dems can’t counter by eliminating taxes for anyone making less than $100,000 and eliminate filing tax forms altogether. As long as we’re willing to borrow $1.4 trillion why not borrow double or triple that? Voters seem not to care about budgets.

Yes, and that growing interest spending may be the worst of the problems.

And simply cutting other expenses won’t cut interest expenses. You have to cut the debt. Or borrow at low interest rate such as 0% and good luck with that.

I know 2 hourly workers whose annual pay is in the $30k or less range and they noticed no difference in their paychecks on Friday. I guess no Costco membership for them.

I agree. For example, we could easily save over $300 billion per year by getting rid of Medicare parts B and D subsidies. If we wanted to cut taxes and do it in a way that is moral, we would have cut spending first, then cut taxes. There is no morality in cutting taxes without cutting spending. That is just shifting the burden from one group to another. There is nothing praiseworthy about that.

He just shows that everyone has a price…the truth of “Follow the Money” rings loud and clear.

I don’t think anyone disputes that republicans are selfish.
Not all Republicans - just the ones the base won’t vote for in the primaries…

Not Trump’s lawyer either, who seems to like to write checks for his client.

So you know two people who already don’t pay income taxes, and probably get a kick each year from the EITC. You can’t give them back taxes they haven’t paid.

There are far more who fall into the $30k territory than those who would get significant tax cuts. I’m guessing most of the latter voted Republican anyway so not much will change come November and most of glee about getting an extra $1.50 a week will be long past.

That said, I hope many of them get a real pay raise over the year.

And when the Dems had absolute majorities in both houses of congress and the presidency and could have passed anything they wanted, what gun control measures did they take? None, of course. They’re big on complaints and claims, but don’t do much for anybody other than Planned Parenthood.

Against the powerful NRA and the court system which protects the 2nd Amendment more than anything else?

And of course you have Republicans who always run with the “He wants to take away your guns” campaigns. And it works for them no matter how many mass murders we have.
