I have just read on PZ Myers website that he has carried out the desecration he ‘promised’ he would do if he received some Hosts. See for yourselves on his so called scienceblog.

I am hoping and praying that the ones he received are not consecrated. We will never know and of course there is the possibility that they were.

I am suggesting that we all make a Holy Hour of Reperation before the Blessed Sacrament to make up for this terrible and appaling act of hatred…no…act of evil.

Perhaps we should all pick the same day for our Holy Hour and publicise it as much as possible. If Myers sees that his act of desecration has moved masses of Catholics to prayer, it is then he will realise that he has truly lost and that our Faith is much bigger than one mans evil intentions and acts.

I suggest the upcoming Feast of the Transfiguration, 6th of August 2008.

Blessed be Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar.

I pray for this man as he knows not what he is doing.

I pray for all whose eyes have not yet been opened to see the supernatural within the natural. Their denial of the existence of the supernatural blinds them, and closes the door to God’s gift of faith.

Where there is love there is hope!
How can science reconcile Love?

Peace

O my Jesus forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of Hell and lead all souls to Heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy. Amen.

I’m so SICKENED by this, I could weep.

Question–if he doesn’t really believe in God, why is he so intentent on desecrating His Body?

In his mind he is trying to show us how silly our beliefs are and that he is, in his own words, “just destroying a cracker.”

He is a perfect example of a militant atheist.

According to what I’ve read about this controversy, he was attempting to demonstrate that the Eucharist isn’t really the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Christ in a rather crude manner. He reasoned, in the manner a rebellious adolescent might reason, that if nothing catastrophic happened on occasion of his desecration, that the host contained no real power, and wasn’t really Christ. He intended to draw people away from Christianity by demonstrating that the sacrament is powerless.

Of course, he clearly misunderstands the type of power effected by the sacrament, but I suspect that’s beyond the capacity of someone filled with raw hatred to comprehend.

I think he is possesed.
(sorry not really the time to joke.)

No really, I am DISGUSTED and DEPRESSED that someone would do something like this. We will have to say many rosaries and make many hours in front of the B.S.

Of course, he is - no joke.

If Jesus lives in the hearts of Christians, why should we doubt that Satan lives in the hearts of his disciples as well.

Many non-believers hold no hatred in their hearts for believers. They may pity us, but they adopt a live and let live attitude. For a person to be so hate filled as this individual appears to be, I do not think it unrealistic to suggest that there is a living source for his hatred.

If no one had responded initially, this glory hound would have slunk away…but he is getting exactly what he wanted.

15 minutes of fame.

Perhaps he is simple minded. Does he expect a bolt of lightning immediately consequent upon the act?

“The mills of God grind slowly, but they grind exceedingly fine”.

I feel sorry for him.

As Fr. Brendan said elsewhere, if a bolt of lighting were to burn his backside, he would smile a little.

If he doesn’t repent, he will roast in hell. After all, he has been warned.

So, what I want to know is–why isn’t his college booting him out for promoting and carrying out a “hate crime?” If he’d burned a copy of the Torah or called Mohammed names or defaced a statue of the Buddha, he’d be out on his ear. I thought tolerance meant tolerance for all faiths and philosophies not just for those that are “politically correct.” I guess I was wrong about that.

He claims to have done something to a Koran as well. If that’s indeed the case, it’ll be interesting to see how this plays out.

So, why doesn’t his college see that his obvious bias is detrimental to the welfare of his students? They wouldn’t tolerate one of their teachers shoving his beliefs down anyone’s throats, so why should they tolerate one showing such blatant disregard for the sensibilities of people of faith? It’s a double standard–one he and his college ought to be called on. Yes?

You can see what he did on his site (if you have the stomach) he put a rusty nail into the host (joked that he hopes Jesus got his Tetanus shot) and then threw both the Eucharist and some pages from the Koran into the trash can and threw coffee and a banana peel on top of it.

I pray again:
O my Jesus forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of Hell and lead all souls to Heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy. Amen.

Of course, I agree with you. If you hold that people of one philosophical perspective (theism, specifically the Christian variety) aren’t permitted to ‘indoctrinate’ their students, then the same ought to be the case for alternative philosophical perspectives (including atheism).

Either that, or the school has an implicitly official religion of atheism.

So, why doesn’t his college …
It seems the college is taking the attitude that he is doing this on his own time and is not using college resources, so it really isn’t their duty to do anything (other then remove the link to his blog from the school system). They basically said that they “hope” that their professors would be professional outside of the school environment, but it doesn’t sound like they are going to do anything about it.

Of course there may be unreported repercussions. He may not get fired outright since he is tenured, but bad press could cause him never to get full professorship since he is listed as an Associate professor.
