I think we may have been too harsh in our judgments. The music is fantastic so far! The choir is singing beautifully.
The Gloria in Latin supersedes what followed in gravitas and worshipfulness (what’s the right adjective?) .listening to the Gloria in Latin by the choir looks like this country esp our Catholics are getting a liturgical education on Latin as the pride of place in liturgical language.

No kidding! That drumming was downright pagan. Seriously - it was something that would not at all be out of place at a pagan festival in the US. I feel like we’re suddenly in bizarro world. The music gets more innapropriate as we approach the Eucharist… not good.
Surprised and disappointed. What was the person who picked the music thinking? The music gets more innapropriate as we approach the Eucharist… not good.
They’re really firing off about the music on EWTN. Fr. Neuhaus isn’t impressed…
The current choir and arrangement sounds like it comes from a Pentecostal church. At least the music recovered quickly - to at least tolerable. I do hope that “amazon” choir doesn’t come on again…
I hear the New York music is much less irreverent…The current choir and arrangement sounds like it comes from a Pentecostal church.
I really hate this kind of music at church. If I want to rock out I’ll listen to a CD or go to a show. It does not belong in church. In what world is this in any way reverent? I can accept that it could be acceptable in an ethnic parish. But at a papal mass? I don’t understand. I just don’t.
The jazz thing had the same impression on me. I had to get up and walk out of the room. It was terrible. Who approved that!?!?!I think one of the pieces when communion was starting was sounding like the" blues" and jazz.
really made me cringe and feel depressed and awful for the Pope and for the people receiving communion.
so irreverent.
I heard raymond and father also wondering about it.
wow.
I hope my kids are not watching this at school.
they watched the Pope;s arrival at the white house yesterday all together in the gym.
I pray the reverence usually with the papal Masses is at the other Masses on this visit.
oh boy!
you guys make me laugh. wonder what my mom would be saying. probably a lot of" what on EARTH?" ( she is from Ireland and England)
I really had to turn it down!
