I really think it’s so awsome that your a punk, but going to be a Priest.Oh my, this thread fits me perfectly. To anyone who says that you cant be a punk and a devout Catholic: please feel free ask my bishop why he accepted me into the seminary to study for the diocese of Wichita, Kansas.
And I can’t believe someone mentioned Richard Hell and the Voidoids. They happen to be just about my favorite of all time. Well, them and The Adicts…and Toy Dolls…all the good ones. Good job for starting this thread.
And to think that I once wondered if I was the only Catholic punk out there…
if your in the same boat, send me a message, I’m curious how many of us there are.
I fully intend on being at the skatepark in my clerics in a few years and showin the young’uns how we Catholics do things.
I don’t think the church itself looks down on people who are punks or goths, I think it’s mainly the lay people. Theres a Priest at my church thats a very good friend. He’s never once made a remark about my punkish style. My mom asked him once if it was anti-religious for me to wear things with skulls on them. He said it depends on my reason for wearing it. He said it could actually be a good symbol to wear. I can’t really remember what he said, but I don’t feel bad about wearing my skulls anymore.
My mom is not real comfortable with my dark clothing. She thinks that whenever I wear my dark clothing I must be depressed or something.
