Thursday Dec. 29 '05, Primetime Live will run an hour program on the evidence for a female Pope. Seems like more Catholic bashing to me. I wonder if someone more knowledgable than I, could e-mail to Diane Sawyer some good evidence to the contrary? Is there anything on the net to dispute a female Pope?

You mean the alleged Pope Joan? If so, read a chapter on this topic in Pope Fiction by Patrick Madrid.

Ahhh. Good old Diane! America’s sweetheart. Good old ABC network. (Always bash Catholics)

Oh brother, Pope Joan AGAIN?!?!?!? I may have to watch it for a good laugh.

I saw the trailer for it this evening during football… what a crock. I told my DH that it’s a program that will be banned for that evening… .than again, we watch CSI anyway…

Yep, they just have to bring trash up to stir controversy…again! Don’t they just love it!

I never thought too much about Diane Sawyer one way or another until I saw her comments on The Pope’s message about Christmas.
In essence, she pointed out that since Pope Benedict XVI wears Prada shoes, he is not one to exclaim against materialism. ???
She must be the new Catholic bashing appointee of the media.
I will watch her no more.

An anti-Christ as well. But then again you will always have anti-Christs claiming themselves to be of God when they aren’t. Beware of these heretics! Diane is a child of the devil as far as I’m concerned.

I’m sure with her investigative skills she’ll totally shoot down the myth of Pope Joan…NOT! I’ll find something on UFOs instead.

Pope Joan, Da vinci…How about a show laying out the case for Apostolic succession?

To say that the Pope is materialism is jumping too fast to conclusion but she probably doesn’t care. Hey, anything to bad mouth about the Pope or Catholicism is good for the media.

Always a tough call whenever something like this comes down the pike. Do you treat it with the comtempt it deserves and ignore it? Or do you actually watch it so you can defend the faith and refute it?

On an off-topic note, you must be one tough baseball manager to tell your Designated Hitter (your DH) what he can and cannot watch during the off-season! 😃 Are you that strict with your outfielders? Would you let your 2B watch “The Two Marys” on CNN?

I think I should go now. :whacky:

Why would it be so negative that there may have been a female pope at some time in the past? I understand that it is not accepted by the church today but if it happened in the past so what. It doesn’t change my faith.

Please explain your perspective on this?

Of course it’s negative! Teachings of Church can’t change and to say that certain thing was once and now no more. What does that said about the Church that Christ founded. JPII said the Church does not have the authority to ordain women and bringing this myth up is to contradict it. The teaching of faith and morals has to be consistent 'til end of time.
