If you read the Gospels you’ll know Jesus is recorded as having spent the Thursday night in agony, sweating blood, thinking of the Crucifixion which was coming and which he could foresee.Mat 12:39 Who answering said to them: An evil and adulterous generation seeketh a sign: and a sign shall not be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet.
Mat 12:40 For as Jonas was in the whale’s belly three days and three nights: so shall the Son of man be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights.
Why isn’t anyone asking about the 3 nights Jesus (pbuh) was supposed to be in the heart of the earth?
How do you reconcile this with his alleged resurrection in the early hours on Sunday?
In effect he WAS dead and buried already - he could see what was about to happen quite clearly, as if he was already going through it. Which is why he was literally sweating blood over it.
Do we really know precisely how much time Jonah spent inside the whale and that it literally was 72 hours including three periods of darkness? We don’t.
As for you, pedja. Of course part of a day counts as a day. And a day goes together with its night, for the Jews it was the PRECEDING night, since night comes first and then daytime.
If I say ‘I’ll see you in a day’s time’ does it mean ‘I’ll see you precisely 24 hours or more from now?’ Of course not. And it didn’t for the Jews either. Nor for Jesus.
