Who is claiming that God’s promises have been proven wrong? Are you interpreting that that is my meaning, because it surely is not my intent.
Reading your post number 14, and Sixtus giving it an “Amen” is what got this ball rolling.

Maybe you can clarify your post first.

I truly give up now.

My point is this: The covenant for the Jews is still valid.

That is all.

Not because of their religion but in spite of it.

Of course, this is also mentioned for the Muslims. 😉

They do worship the one true God and this is likely why there is a whole section in the CCC for them and Muslims. (next to each other by the way)

I am done here! Carry on.

So… instead of telling me where I’m wrong, you
a) question our Catholicity
b) give up and walk away.

OK, now.

I cant tell you where you are wrong because you wont say the words:

The covenant with the Jews is still valid and stands.

I have no idea what your position is that dances around it but does not say it.

It must be me. Sorry I cant go on like this.

I’m not trying to dance around anything. Do I think Jews are still bound to the Covenant? I think only if they choose to bind themselves.

God’s promise to the Jews still stands? What promise is that? That He would send them a Messiah that would lead them to the Promised Land, the New Israel. That has happened already.

Look at the CCC
"Those who have not yet received the Gospel are related to the People of God in various ways."325
The relationship of the Church with the Jewish People. When she delves into her own mystery, the Church, the People of God in the New Covenant, discovers her link with the Jewish People,326 "the first to hear the Word of God."327 The Jewish faith, unlike other non-Christian religions, is already a response to God’s revelation in the Old Covenant. To the Jews “belong the sonship, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises; to them belong the patriarchs, and of their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ”;328 "for the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable."329]
Where does it say that Jews are still bound to this Covenant that has been replaced with the New Covenant? If a Jew chooses to convert to Christianity, have they broken their promise to the Mosaic Covenant? Or would they still be bound to observe all the dietary and purification rites? God hasn’t taken away any of His promises to the Jews. He’s fulfilled them!!!

Haven’t I shown you that God has kept His promises to the Jews, in the midst of all my dancing?

OK, Hellisreal, I did your work for you and found the part of LG that deals with your post. I normally don’t do Apologetic Work by answering someone’s question with “Here’s the Bible. It’s in there somewhere. And I was taught it is sinful not to read it until you find out what your church teaches”. Just a little chiding, there - ;). We can still be friends, I hope.

The chapter your pointing to, I think, is 16:
Finally, those who have not yet received the Gospel are related in various ways to the people of God.(18*) In the first place we must recall the people to whom the testament and the promises were given and from whom Christ was born according to the flesh.(125) On account of their fathers this people remains most dear to God, for God does not repent of the gifts He makes nor of the calls He issues.(126); And I agree with what you are saying. God has not taken back His promises. I’m just saying they are fulfilled in Jesus Christ. Every promise that I can think of that God has given to the Jews has been fulfilled IN TOTAL in Jesus Christ. The Jews should not have to be bound to a Covenant that Catholics claim is a yoke around their necks that cannot bring them Salvation (I think I’m adequately summarizing Paul’s thoughts on the Old Covenant).

A Study On God’s Covenants
Where in the Bible are we specifically told that there is a time limit on God’s covenant with His people? What is His “covenant” with us today?
Hi
The Covenant of GodAllahYHWH has been the same, in my opinion. There is no change in it. In short the Covenant is :

To believe in ONE GodAllahYHWH and to worship none except Him.

To accept the true ProphetsMessengers whenever one comes from Him and to support him and obey his teachings wholeheartedly.

GodAllahYHWH makes no mistakes, He is unblemished.
Thanks

I just read the first page, so I don’t know if anyone else made this point. You asked,

It doesn’t…God’s covenant with his Chosen People is still valid. The Jews are STILL God’s chosen people. Christians are grafted into the tree of Israel by the new covenant. But, as Paul tells us in Romans 11:29, and the Old Testatment also makes this clear…“God’s gifts and call is irrevocable.”

Yes, Didn’t God die on the Cross?
Hi
GodAllahYHWH is eternal. How could He die on the Cross? To me, GodAllahYHWH saved Jesus from cursed death on Cross and Jesus regained consciousness from the near dead in the tomb where he was laid for treatment by his disciples/friends.Please don’t mind.
Thanks

God didn’t make a mistake. There was a covenant with Israel in the Old Testament and the covenant o Jesus in the New Testament. Now Catholic Church is Israel, we are God’s people. CC is ruled by st. Peter of our time - pope Benedict. Just like God did many miracles and talked to Israel, He is doing exactly the same now. You are protestant so you probably don’t know these stories, have a look at Guadalupe, padre Pio, Fatima, Lourdes, Faustina, etc.

But Paar, if this is true, then Scriptures would be wrong. If we can’t trust this essential part of Scripture (this very essential part of Scripture), then what part of Scripture can we trust?

Your understanding of God may be greater than mine. I may be wrong and you may be right. However, I choose to believe the way I believe. This is faith.

God made a Covenant with Israel.

Parallel: A man makes a Covenant with a woman in marriage.

When does the Covenant end between the man and woman? When one of the partners dies.

When did the Covenant between God and Israel end? When one of the partners died - that being God, in the Man Jesus.
Did Gods covenant with Abraham die?

Im sorry, but this is bad scripture reading. Jerimiah 31:36, God says if all the decrees he names vanish from his sight, then THE DESCENDANTS OF ISRAEL WILL CEASE TO BE A NATION BEFORE HIM. In Jeremiah 31:37, God reveals what anti-semites must do in order for God to reject ALL OF THE DESCENDANTS OF ISRAEL.

God’s Covenant with Abraham has been fulfilled. Which one of the three promises of His Covenant has not been fulfilled?

Abraham’s Covenant was with all the tribes of Israel.
To clarify, all of his descendants through Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob(Israel). And that land grant of the land of Canaan was given as an everlasting possession.

Let me guess, the land possession was fulfilled under Joshua, right?
No, I thought it was the New Israel, Heaven, for those who live under the New and Everlasting Covenant. (Notice, Jesus had to reveal that this Covenant would be everlasting, as if the other covenants may not have been.)

But regarding Joshua, yes, it was partially fulfilled here, but fully fulfilled through Jesus. It’s typical of the OT Typology of the NT.

So do you feel that Israel of today and the jews that live there hold no signifigance to prophecy of scripture?

Jesus is the fulfillment of all covenants, but he doesnt replace them. Jesus will come back to Jerusalem, Israel; not New york or Rome or anywhere else.

I don’t think it is or does. Do you see any resemblence between Israel of today and Israel of the 1st century? Can you you see any role that the religious priesthood has in Israel’s government? I’m not expert, but I certainly don’t see it.

So, I ask again. If a Jew converts to Catholicism, are they still bound by the dietary and purification laws of Judaism?

Yes, Jesus will come back. But what do you mean to Jerusalem only and not New York or Rome? Jesus will bring the new Jerusalem with Him to and for all of us.
