so why would people do that if not out of need?
MONEY!
Mexicans In The U.S. Are Sending Home More Money Than Ever
People need money to live same as everyone else on the earth. What does that prove? Are you bothered that they are sharing with their grand parents, parents or family members?

Keep the money in the USA. Spend it here.

Hiring American citizens would keep it here.

What about every major corporation in the country? Dont they send money out via outsourcing and spending on projects outside the US as well? Are you upset with them also?

They are increasingly spending it here.

Dont immigrants pay rent, buy food, pay for transportation, buy furniture, pay bills? Aren’t they always spending their money on these things to live? Why do corporations get a pass in your eyes but not poor people?

No.

Illegal alien immigrants cram into minimal rental space and send their money home. They avoid getting drivers and occupational licenses, do not get education, and unlike legal citizens and legal immigrants, they do not purchase liability insurance.

Corporations file detailed financial statements and report to their shareholders and prepare DETAILED income tax returns and employ union employees and non-union employees and pay substantial salaries and wages.

All undocumented immigrants do not live like you wish to portray them same as not all shady corporate activity which aims to displace American workers is found in their financial statements.

Get to know some undocumented immigrants and find out how they live and why they have become loved in their communities. These are normal folks that bring value to our economy. They do the grimy back breaking work most dont want to do. Best we can do is to treat them humanely and with respect rather than rounding them up and kicking them out.

NO this is about citizens wiring the money via transfer. It’s the highest source of income for Mexico.

“The country’s largest source of cash comes from Mexicans living in the United States. That is now under the microscope after Trump issued an executive order Wednesday to start building a wall on the border.”

Trump threatens Mexico’s biggest cash source

Companies in moving there have to pay out for surrounding social services if they want to operate in Mexico.

NO! they use welfair
Our ruling
Cortes said, “We have right now … in the state of California, 55 percent of all immigrants are on public assistance.”

That’s true of households but not individual immigrants, in 2012, a study found. The Current Population Survey found a lower amount, that 41 percent of immigrant households in California relied on welfare.
Are 55 percent of immigrants in California on welfare? That’s an exaggeration

Mexicans also shop at Walmart, SAMS and eat at places like McDonalds plus many drive American vehicles. This money then comes back to American companies. Should Mexicans be angry because some of their money is coming back to USA?

Wealthy and prospering countries are going to have immigrants who then send money back home. China and India are right behind Mexico. We should be concerned if people don’t want to come here instead of becoming upset that the crumbs that drop from our table help out others.

Because God’s law is higher than man’s?

Controlling the border is one thing. Forbidding the Church from helping people in need, even if they are breaking minor laws? Not happening, even for Great Leader Trump.

catechism says to obey laws of the governing country and for immigrants to obey the host nations laws. Why would the Catholic church not honor the catechism?

The Catechism also lists the works of mercy that God expects.

Human laws (especially ones enacted out of prejudice and spite — is it really illegal to help someone suffering right in front of you because they have broken a petty civil law?) can be bent or ignored to serve the moral law of God.

Naw you find help for them at the nearest police station. They will feed them, cure them and then deport them until they can gain entry from a legal port of entry. This is what the Church believes.

It is not one of the 10 Commandments.

And he is not either the Pope or a bishop.

They may have the opinion that the laws of the US are unjust; but interestingly, they don’t comment about immigration laws in other countries, many of which are more restrictive than the US.

If the laws are unjust (and that has yet to be shown), then the laws need to be changed. However, the fact that there are corrupt countries does not thereby make a duty upon the US to take any and all comers; the duty is upon the individual countries to clean up their act, and if necessary, assisted by other countries (short of an invasion).

They can comment on countries other than their own but can’t do much unless they’re citizens. Mexican bishops are actually quite critical of Mexican immigration policy, although you’ll need either a good online translator or some high school Spanish skills to read up on it. As the OP articulated quite clearly, we should trust the clergy to dictate what does and does not adhere to Church teaching. Or is this just selective endeavor?

This is a strawman. I never argued “any and all.” I do think that the impoverished fleeing Mexico and Central America need a swift and just path to citizenship, but that doesn’t mean that there shouldn’t be screening and background checks.

Well, while we’re waiting around for things to—poof!–get better, I side with the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops in their quest to clean up OUR act by instigating comprehensive immigration reform. 🙂

I think Jeff Sessions has to think about the morality of taking children away from their families. Sometimes the punishment is worse than the crime.
The vast majority of children are smuggled in by coyotes - smugglers who take money from the parents to bring their children here. The parents are still in Central or South America.
So are you saying we should let them run free in America and use our food stamps, education, health care, and church programs to wait out their asylum court hearing?
Can non-citizens get food stamps?

Education is the number one correlate to crime prevention. The more educated a person is, the more likely they are to benefit society.

The vast majority of iIllegals do not seek health care for fear of being deported. Some of them don’t even want to leave the house.

What "church programs’ would you deny a refugee, and on what basis? Do you not remember that Jesus and His family were refugees?

Matthew 25:40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.’…

I think the question really is, would you deny food, education, healthcare and “church programs” (whatever that is) to Jesus.
Here what desperate asylum seekers travel by with air conditioning…and who’s paying for this?
Many pay thousands for just one family member to get across the border.
Illegal immigration is a crime, and thus a sin.
If it was a crime for Jesus’ family to flee from Herod, would that make it a sin?

If it is legal to get an abortion, does that make it a sinless? Or is it a sin for some other reason?
Man made law, still must pass the litmus test of being a just and moral law.
