First, I would like to see this in context. Secondly, death entered the world because of sin. This does not mean that Mary died because of personal sin. And I believe Saint Augustine clearly stated in another work that Mary never sinned.Augustine declared that Mary’s flesh was “flesh of sin.” (De Peccatorum Meritis, ii, c. 24).
“Mary, springing from Adam, died because of sin; and the flesh of our Lord, derived from Mary, died to take away sin.” (De Peccatorum Meritis, ii, c. 24).
