You seem to think in either/or terms.

Either this is right and so that is wrong, or that is wrong and so this is right.

Each book of the Bible is inspired by the Holy Spirit. Each Book in the bible reveals the Truth that God wants to reveal.

I don’t think Jesus defied science - rather he completed nature as it should be - sinless, and without sickness or death. That is because God came into History. His miracles weren’t like Harry Potter magic - transforming a teacup into a cat, they were renewal of the sinless natural order.

But in his miracles Jesus didn’t nullify science or nature. The miracles are a glimpse into what nature is truly like when there is no sin and death.

I believe in Abraham. I believe in Adam and Eve: I also believe in Evolution. Instead of focusing on “How can this be?” I just accept that my Pope thinks it is OK, so I focus on trying to be a good Christian instead. And when reading scripture I try and see what God is saying to me, rather than trying to prove God right or wrong.
STILL didn’t answer the true or false questions. The bible is a Jesus book and although each book is obviously it’s own all the books are linked. You believe in Adam and Eve but you put them in an environment of your choosing it seems.

Of course Jesus defied science. A storm is an atmospheric condition, it runs it’s course and Jesus stopped it’s course. Genesis is also a revealing of nature “when there is no sin and death”. I think it is okay that you believe in theistic evolution, but I’m tired of those of your view turning Genesis into some far fetched belief system with no credence that should be put aside in favor of an evolutionist ideology only.

There is not,was not and cannot be any theistic evolution and Jesus Christ as God showed and shows us exactly how God creates in an instant turning water into wine, creating loaves and fishes, giving sight to a blind man, raising the dead etc - winc
Agreed.👍

You have no idea what I turn genesis into.

Have a nice day.👍

This might interest you too:
  1. However, since God speaks in Sacred Scripture through men in human fashion, (6) the interpreter of Sacred Scripture, in order to see clearly what God wanted to communicate to us, should carefully investigate what meaning the sacred writers really intended, and what God wanted to manifest by means of their words.
To search out the intention of the sacred writers, attention should be given, among other things, to “literary forms.” For truth is set forth and expressed differently in texts which are variously historical, prophetic, poetic, or of other forms of discourse. The interpreter must investigate what meaning the sacred writer intended to express and actually expressed in particular circumstances by using contemporary literary forms in accordance with the situation of his own time and culture. (7) For the correct understanding of what the sacred author wanted to assert, due attention must be paid to the customary and characteristic styles of feeling, speaking and narrating which prevailed at the time of the sacred writer, and to the patterns men normally employed at that period in their everyday dealings with one another. (8)
But, since Holy Scripture must be read and interpreted in the sacred spirit in which it was written, (9) no less serious attention must be given to the content and unity of the whole of Scripture if the meaning of the sacred texts is to be correctly worked out. The living tradition of the whole Church must be taken into account along with the harmony which exists between elements of the faith. It is the task of exegetes to work according to these rules toward a better understanding and explanation of the meaning of Sacred Scripture, so that through preparatory study the judgment of the Church may mature. For all of what has been said about the way of interpreting Scripture is subject finally to the judgment of the Church, which carries out the divine commission and ministry of guarding and interpreting the word of God. Just big letters so you’ll remember. I thought the color red might also work since nothing else has.

You seem reluctant.
I’m reluctant to get into a pissing match.

The text editor didn’t delete that so…😉

I’m not here to prove you wrong. Just that my POV is fine by the Church, by various Popes etc etc.

You seem to want me to say I’m wrong. I’m not.

You can maintain your POV too. That’s fine. The Catholic Church has a wide spectrum of beliefs.

Well then don’t start an unfair TRUE or FALSE dialogue in which your unwilling to participate in.
I was asking you if based on Church teaching it was OK for me to believe in Evolution.

Then I asked if it was sinful or prideful for me to believe in evolution.

That’s not a competition or a right/wrong proposition. I was trying to see where you were coming from. Why should I continue to argue with you if you think I’m wrong even though I showed Church texts which said my point of view was orthodox?

No, you said lets PLAY TRUE or FALSE. If your logic is the aforementioned why ask me true or false?

You know as well as I do that i answered your true or false immediately and you refuse to answer mine because it puts a hole in your debate.

I take it you haven’t read or watched the links.

That’s my answer.

Oh, still using the unfair approach. You get to ask your questions when PLAYING but I can’t ask mine. I see your MO, not good. In a game thats called cheating.

Look you didn’t actually answer them. Go back and check.

I also answered you. I said Genesis is the revealed word of God and speaks the truth of God’s will.

Scripture is also the living word of God, it’s speaking to us today. And in speaking to us today it is well for us to use modern critical and historical and literary tools to uncover that truth, while always belong mindful that God is the ultimate author.

Try reading these links.

You NEVER answered TRUE or FALSE to MY questions it is plain for all to see. I understand you don’t want to be pigeonholed with a true or false. But don’t ask another to play by rules you won’t abide by. You asked me 3 TRUE or FALSE questions and I answered TRUE, FALSE and TRUE to the specific questions. Bait and switch won’t work on me.

I just so happen to be examining a clump of marine fossils from the Devonian (375 million years ago) right now with my seven year old.

I personally believe that this increases his sense of wonder in the awesomeness of God.
I tend to believe it has the opposite effect. To be a Catholic, we are required to believe in a God that does not need science or technology to perform miracles. If God cannot or does not perform miracles then, what is He?

Pope John Paul II is one miracle away from sainthood. catholicnews.com/data/stories/cns/1100156.htm

Peace,
Ed

Based on Church teaching I (me not you) can believe that God is the Creator, the all powerful, the First Mover, and still believe in evolution. True or False

You don’t think I can believe that? Despite the writings of the Church that I have linked to and quoted? Despite the fact that the Pope says it’s OK?

Then we have no basis for a conversation.
