That’s rather foolish pride on your part.

Genesis says that we come from dust, and you are offended by the idea that we came from dust by way of apes?🤷

What did you want God to make you from–angels? Isn’t that presumptuous?

That’s an unbelievably silly argument.

For one thing, Jesus actually doesn’t reveal a lot of “complexities,” except in the sense that who He was is the complexity!

For another, Jesus never mentions atoms or germs or that the world is round or that the earth goes round the sun, or the existence of other galaxies or dark matter or the existence of America or the existence of Australia (with kangaroos and everything) or a million other things.

You’re just not making sense here.

Edwin
Silly to you. You say we came from dust, absolutely. From dust to man, period. Not from dust to crawling ooze, then to something else, then a simian creature, then a half human half ape creature, then a man. God made us in His image. According to what you believe he waited a long, long time to get to that.

Your putting a twist on the area of complexities when I speak of Jesus. Knowing where America, Australia, kangaroos, germs atoms etc. that you write came from is not relevant to who we are. You realize that Jesus told monotheistic Jews that He was God in the flesh. Not exactly something easy for people to understand. His nature was revealed.

When Jesus speaks of OUR nature, what does he do? He goes to Genesis and says , “in the beginning God made them male and female, for this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be united to his wife.” He tells us about heaven, hell, sickness, love, death but never stops to point out our "true " origins, that we were apes or explain that the Genesis words He is quoting are really a watered down story.

You must believe in a literal Adam and Eve as a Catholic. Where does that Adam and Eve come from? Some fairytale land know as Eden? I will tell you the names Adam and Eve but where they came from is the made up part .

If Jesus thought we could embrace that He was God in the flesh, is it such a leap to think revealing OUR true origins would shock us even more? Jesus wasn’t bound by science. He made wine instantly from water, healed flesh instantly. Don’t you see Jesus not needing a process? Jesus was present at Genesis and did it all just like the wine.

I think the true question is: What is God telling me/us in and through this story.

What does it mean that man could not find a “helpmeet” in nature?

What does it mean when Genesis says Eve was made from Adam’s rib?

What does it mean that man and woman are made from the same substance, not two different substances?

What does it mean that woman is taken from Man’s side, not his foot, or his head, or his bodily waste?

I believe God created Man and Woman in His image and likeness.

I have no idea how he did it.

There are two creation stories with different imagery and different chronology. Both teach the truth.
A simple “no” would have been easier.

The two accounts are complementary. One seems to be written from God’s perspective with the order of creation, the other about the importance of man.

Small scientific theory(s) update. That idea was dropped and replaced years ago by a more complex theory on relationships between distinct species.

What Genesis teaches involves human nature and its ultimate purpose. Because human nature is an unique unification of both the material and spiritual worlds, it cannot be completely described by natural science. This is because the domain of natural science is physical/material.

Creation and evolution can’t “both teach the truth”. One contradicts the other. Truth is universal. Contradiction does not define truth. One plus one is two, that is a universal truth.

But not true either.

I don’t know how God created man and woman, and the old testament gives us two versions is more accurate.
