i checked out Isaiah 22 and i don’t see the connection. What speciifcally does tthis have to do with Mary?
Justasking, are you really interested what that has to say with the Papacy? (Is 22 passage).

It has to do with tha Papacy, not with Mary. And with the Church authority. Interested?

20 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will call my servant Eliacim the son of Helcias,
21 And I will clothe him with thy robe, and will strengthen him with thy girdle, and will give thy power into his hand: and he shall be as a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Juda.
22 And I will lay the key of the house of David upon his shoulder: and he shall open, and none shall shut: and he shall shut, and none shall open.
This is the Prime Minister, while the King is away, he acts in his authority. Notice, that the power was not asscioated with a person, but the position. More can be said on this and I encourage anyone to research the connection between these things.

If you believe what your church teaches about Mary, do you believe and follow this below?

On this account it was, says St. Bernard, that the Eternal Father, wishing to show all the mercy possible, besides with giving us Jesus Christ, our principal advocate him, was pleased also to give us Mary, as our and with Jesus Christ. There is no doubt, the saint adds, that Jesus Christ is the only mediator of justice between men and God; that, by virtue of his own merits and promises, he will and can obtain us pardon and the divine favors; but because men acknowledge and fear the divine Majesty, which is in him as God, for this reason it was necessary to assign us another advocate, to whom we might have recourse with less fear and more confidence, and this advocate is Mary, than whom we cannot find one more powerful with his divine majesty, or one more merciful towards ourselves. The saint says, Christ is a faithful and powerful Mediator between God and men, but in him men fear the majesty of God. A mediator, then, was needed with the mediator himself; nor could a more fitting one be found than Mary. (Liguori, The Glories of Mary,pp. 195-196).

Keep in mind that Liguori was a saint and doctor of the catholic church.

With all do respect, I don’t think your Catechesis is strong enough to interpret those words correctly. Those words are perfectly in line with what Jesus preached and taught.

When we say the Mary, She says Jesus, that is basically what the great Doctor of the Church is trying to relay.

And oh, btw, a Mediator was needed between Isreal and God, and that was Moses. Why can’t Mary be our mediator to Jesus, to the Father? nothing new here, just doing what Christians have been doing for over 2000 years.

  1. I thought you said you would read the articles on the website I posted you. I think you said you would have to go slowly through them as there were quite a few of them. I think you didn’t do much “study” then. Response to this was just the 3rd article from the top on the “Mary: The Blessed Virgin” section on Dave Armstrong’s Page. If you are interested in the response I’m sure you will read it carefully. (HERE)
  2. “If you believe what your church teaches about Mary, do you believe and follow this below?”
This argument of yours is completely non sequitur. Liguori is not the Magisterium of the Church. Nor Augustine, nor Aquinas, nor me.

Give me a break. I can read and understand just like anyone else can.

Would you happen to have some scripture passages to support this with?
When we say the Mary, She says Jesus, that is basically what the great Doctor of the Church is trying to relay.
And how does the great Doctor know this if the scriptures never teach such a thing?
And oh, btw, a Mediator was needed between Isreal and God, and that was Moses. Why can’t Mary be our mediator to Jesus, to the Father?
The scriptures tell us that there is only one mediator between God and man-- the man Christ Jesus. This leaves no room for another. Not even Mary.
nothing new here, just doing what Christians have been doing for over 2000 years.
Not so. We have no such teachings in the church for centuries.

I read a number of them and i didn’t find his arguments that sound. Take for example his article on what full of grace means. That especially was drawing conclusions not supported by the word definitions on grace.

i’m not making an argument but asking a question about what this canonized saint, Doctor of the church taught. He is not some minor figure in the catholic church nor are his works. His works are endorsed by the catholic church. Do you believe what he said in the quote?

What i’m first interested in is what is the context of the passage?
In context of Isaiah 22 is it speaking specifically of the church?

Your eyes are veiled, or you just don’t understand what the BLESSED Virgin’s role in what we are discussing is. Who is suggesting that She is the Mediator between us and the Father? She is our Advocate to Jesus, and Jesus still maintains his Mediatorship to the Father. Is this hard to understand? Just like I can be your mediator to Jesus if you ask me to pray for you, she can be your also…if you like. you just have to ask her.

Thats a topic for another thread. Right now were discussing Mary.
Futile attempt. The bible is not a book about Mary, and since you only have the bible for your divine revelations, you won’t get *that * far, you need the faith of the Church to see what bible teaches about Mary, or you can go to Her directly (the Church, that is).

Can you clearly state your problem with what the St. Liguori is saying?

Many problems here. Does your church consider its teachings divine i.e. inspired-inerrant?

Secondly, the scriptures don’t teach the things your church says about Mary. So claiming that they are in the Bible is false.

You know the answer to that, if you claim
Give me a break. I can read and understand just like anyone else can.
They are in the bible, some explicit (her immaculate conception) and other implicit (her assumption), they’ve been presented to you, its your choice if you are willing to roll-up your sleeves and dig into them a little further, instead of the 5 minute skim over a website.

HailMary;2592701]Your eyes are veiled, or you just don’t understand what the BLESSED Virgin’s role in what we are discussing is.
Thats the problem. I do understand what your church teaches and i also understand the scriptures don’t teach it.
Who is suggesting that She is the Mediator between us and the Father?
Liguori. Here is the quote from his book–“The saint says, Christ is a faithful and powerful Mediator between God and men, but in him men fear the majesty of God. A mediator, then, was needed with the mediator himself; nor could a more fitting one be found than Mary. (Liguori, The Glories of Mary,pp. 195-196).”

i do understand and its a false teaching.
Just like I can be your mediator to Jesus if you ask me to pray for you, she can be your also…if you like. you just have to ask her.
This is not the same thing. Powers are attributed to her that a person in this world does not have for one. According to this doctrine she can hear thousands of prayers at once and read the thoughts of peoples mental prayers.

Yes, a mediator between US and JESUS, not US and the FATHER.

i do understand and its a false teaching.
(referring to Mary’s role as a mediator between us and Jesus)
So you don’t believe that other can pray to Jesus for you? Because if Mary can’t pray to Jesus for you, the other conclusion is nobody can.
