lol, thats the other thing wrong about feminism. they allow role reversals for women, but they dont allow it for men. meaning, that its socially acceptable for a women to wear pants, but a man cant wear a dress. or its socially acceptable for a women to be a soldier, but we make fun of male hairdressers. and in our societies the men are still expected to pay for dates, be the breadwiners, etc. but if a man is a stay at home dad, we call him a loser. so feminists are hypocrites IMO.
The hypocrisy is real, but be a bit cautious with this type of criticism, because it can stir confusion. A lot on the Left are well aware of the growing backlash against them for the earlier Feminist social and legal changes; and their response is, oddly enough,
not to suggest we work toward undoing the error, but instead to, effectively, feign empathy with those recently wronged. They’ll typically start by insisting that we’ve simply gone too far or are in too deep with Feminist progress. They’ll end, of course, by encouraging everyone to begin some long-overdue movement toward finally ridding men of all the burdens they needlessly endure trying to uphold an out-dated culture’s sexist notions/expectations of masculinity. Yeah, that’s what we need: Feminism
for Men!
Allegedly, this will protect those with a Y-chromosome who are oppressed by “gender essentialism” and the roles it brutally imposes on innately-genderless innocents everywhere. Many activists may fight for a “freedom for men” with hopes of a future in which fathers can be exempt from stigma and criticism if they decide to take on a woman’s motherly role. And, just as with much of earlier Feminism, their appeals will ultimately rest on a faith in absolute, universal Freedom & Equality*, which is apparently supposed to remain an unquestioned principle and cultural value for all (despite its utter practical impossibility – indeed, despite what I would deem even a gross
theoretical ugliness, regardless of feasibility). Whether this is some sincere, misguided strive for “justice in a genderless society” or merely a malicious ploy to speed up female domination, the result is bound to be equally ridiculous and destructive.
In sum, point out the hypocrisy, sure, but only as a way to expose deceit after clarifying that the preservation of masculinity is, if anything, a sign of hope. Never get (or let others get) misled into thinking it’s primarily the double-standard that’s unjust, as if some required goal lingers just halfway done. The subsequent sentiment would only be used as a weapon against lazy men who are looking for an excuse to not put in the effort that’s required in becoming strong, protective, resourceful leaders, husbands, and fathers. (This would be slightly akin to promiscuous men who, perhaps unwilling to sacrifice pleasure and practice monogamy themselves, might support “empowering” women with social acceptance of slutty behavior, strictly in order to consistently avoid charges of “Hypocrite!” and “Double standard!”. They’d rather abolish the standard of monogamy altogether, completely, than broadly endorse monogamy for all and have to struggle giving up their own sin.)
Edit: I’m not accusing someperson555 of such a mixed-up approach or ill-motivated strategy.
*Words to live by: If at any time during a debate someone invokes an accepted consensus/meaning for phrases/concepts such as ‘equal (rights)’, ‘everyone is entitled to’, ‘(world) peace’, or ‘doesn’t hurt anybody’, become, at that very moment, highly and relentlessly suspicious.
