There hasn’t been a study on it. However, the Majority of Catholics have the basic knowledge of history. How many catholics know christian history? How many catholics have the intelligence to read a good history book of christianity? I am sure many but many also don’t.
Mormonism is a man-made religion by Joseph Smith. His doctrine about God keep changing. This is contrary to what we know about the nature of God. He is immutable.Mormonism makes sense. It puts many things into a good box. It is difficult to disbelieve it. The lds church has many answers that make complete sense. And the truth claims can make sense too. When someone looses faith in the lds church it is difficult to believe in another church. There can be a feeling of incompleteness to that other faith. Thus, atheism can be the result. Or many former mormons head over to the half-way house as found in the Unitarian Universalist church.
Mormonism doesn’t sense. It claims that God had sex with Mary which denies the virginity of Mary. It’s more like an insult to both God and Mary to me. God comes from another planet. Another lie. It claim that God was once a man. Adam.I posted the website to the Encylopedia of Mormonism. Their doctrine of the preexistence makes sense, complete with bible references. Hence the problem.
Well if you look in Judaism, which Christianity stem from. Those beliefs are new to any Orthodox Jew or orthodox understanding of Christian.
Mormonism is paganism and distort the True itself. By its claim, God is changing. Paul did say, Jesus the same, today, yesterday, and forever. Therefore, don’t carry any strange doctrine. Orthodox Christianity makes more sense than the paganistic belief of Mormonism.
