I doubt the movie is going to tank, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this information was leaked to gain even more publicity. On the Facebook page for Decent Films, Steven D. Greydanus has written the following:

Meh, he’ll probably get banned soon enough if he keeps doing this.I am not sure why you find that so amusing, except maybe for your Atheist status.
It’s always amazing how some Atheists have nothing better to do with their free time than come to a Catholic site to share their apparent “happiness” with Catholics, while others come respectfully, intelligently and tolerantly.
I agree. Beauty and the Beast was one of my favorites too.I’m looking forward to seeing the movie and I still intend to see it. First of all, the Lafou character isn’t going to promote anything in a positive way because he’s portrayed as an idiotic, pathetic toady. (His name literally means “the fool”!) He is an object of ridicule precisely because of his obsessive man-crush on Gaston and his effeminate mannerisms certainly aren’t portrayed as something to emulate. In other words, IF he is “openly gay”, then it’s hardly an endorsement. Secondly, what could they possibly have him do that is more “gay” than this
youtube.com/watch?v=qVdgaSuAjII
And still manage to keep the PG rating?
Third, we’ve been down this road already with Dory and the controversial two women walking together who obviously must be in a sexually deviant relationship and lets not forget the one-second shot of the ambiguous “family” that didn’t appear to have a mother in Frozen that was obviously the result of same-sex parents.
Lastly, this “news” has not be released by Disney, but by pro-homosexual sources that sound more like 12 year olds. (OMG, two guys dancing together? That’s gay!)
I loved Beauty and the Beast as a child and I’m looking forward to seeing the movie. I thought the Jungle Book remake was really good and I expect this movie will be good too. I’m pretty sure the antics of Josh Gad are not going to challenge my faith.
And PS, this sort of hysterical reaction is exactly what people are referring to when they call people “homophobic”.I agree. Beauty and the Beast was one of my favorites too.
Wow! It’s almost as if -gasp- you actually do not have to go see the movie!!“Two consenting adults” just wasn’t enough, was it?
So true!As one minister said to his congregation some years back. “This is no longer Mr. Disney’s company.” He’s right and it hasn’t been for a long time.

Exactly. You don’t have to endorse homosexual behavior, but you don’t have to panic and start the “In my day…” chorus. The reaction doesn’t need to be so overwrought. And PS, this sort of hysterical reaction is exactly what people are referring to when they call people “homophobic”.
Indeed.Not-so-dear-anymore Disney studios:
Shame on you. You lost me. Beauty & the Beast has been my #1 movie, it was very dear to me. I replayed it in my VHS during childhood every single day without getting bored of it. Each time it was a thrilling and exciting experience. The animated movie became hubby & I #1 couple’s love story movie. It is our movie. But you…you have betrayed me. You have lost my respect for you and your works. You have stained what I once saw as pure. If you excel in one thing, that would be corrupting and poisoning innocent minds to promote an agenda. You have done the same with your original movies, TV series and now Disney classics. Shame on you.
Sincerely,
A former fan.
Yes, but it was released as a statement by the film’s own director!Lastly, this “news” has not be released by Disney, but by pro-homosexual sources that sound more like 12 year olds. (OMG, two guys dancing together? That’s gay!)

What are your thoughts on Gravity Falls?Yep, just found out today. Have not seen that show since the beginning of season two, and now it seems I will continue not seeing it. I also stopped watching Loud House for the same reasons along with other ones. Now all three of the main kids networks are guilty (although I view Steven Universe as the exception to the rule and will continue to use it as an example as to how gay representation should be handled if at all). At least we have My Little Pony and some others as a glimmer of hope…
But yeah, watch the original Beauty and the Beast instead and abstain from Disney for a long while.![]()
I think your special perspective is welcome here.FWIW I am a celibate bisexual and all my other LGBT friends are livid because LeFou is a joke who is complicit in Gaston’s attempt at a forced marriage/rape because of his crush. This is not the kind of representation they or I want. Disney is pleasing nobody here.
I am starting to sense that Disney’s marketing strategy these days is to create controversy where there is none. Pointing out something that in reality isn’t there. Just like most people these days.FWIW I am a celibate bisexual and all my other LGBT friends are livid because LeFou is a joke who is complicit in Gaston’s attempt at a forced marriage/rape because of his crush. Ah yes, the “wholesome” Disney of days gone by: google.com/amp/amp.www.complex.com/pop-culture/2014/05/most-racist-moments-disney-movies-cartoons/Yes, but it was released as a statement by the film’s own director!
Also, even if it doesn’t challenge your faith (I’m sure it wouldn’t to any of us), it still shows the level of deprivation that our society has sunken to. Even Disney, which used to be consistently one of the most wholesome things for children, has been doing it! This kind of thing just has to stop.
May God bless you all!![]()
