Greetings all,

Some questions about this devotion…

Has anyone a longtime devotion to the Sacred Heart ? Do you find the two devotions are complimentary ? How do you integrate the two ? Have you decided to embrace the Divine Mercy Devotion as Jesus’ wish and put aside the Sacred Heart Devotion ?

Do any practicioners of the Jesus Prayer tried using << Jesus I trust in You >> or << by the merits of his Sorrowful Passion… have mercy on us and the whole world.>> ?

I have always lived by Grignon de Montforts devotion to Mary… Do others go to Jesus as the Divine Mercy through the Immaculate Heart of Mary ?

For those who have read it… What has the <> of Sister Faustina meant to you spiritually ?

Do some recite the Divine Mercy chapelet every day ? more than once a day ?

Has anyone made efforts to promote the devotion ? even on a small scale.?

I am setting my cell alarm to ring at 3PM every day…has anyone been using this designated time of day ?

Anything about this devotion would be of interest.

I try to recite the chaplet of divine mercy at least once a day. Sometimes more often. I have mentioned it to a few people (they were already doing it) and given a pamphlet to a couple.

I am in the car-rider line between 2:30 and 3:00 waiting to pick up my children. This is a perfect time of day for me to say it. So I’m a little early.

I’ve made it part-way through the diary. I have found that there are a lot of good “things” in there, but it is best taken in small bites and savored. Not something that I could read in a couple of days.
 
I consecrate myself to The Sacred Heart daily, but also do the chaplet. At 3 PM, I am at work, (United States Postal Service)and have just clocked in. I say a few preliminary prayers as I go to the supply cage to pick up my required walky-talky.

Then I start in on the chaplat as I walk to my work station. It is on the other side of the building, so I usually am able to finish the chaplet by the time I arrive at my tool box and settle down for 8 hours of work.🙂

I love both devotions and they have both been a source of immeasurable blessings for me. I love to say the chapel when I am in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament or at 3 o’clock. I also love to say the Sacred Heart Prayer (although, I’ll admit that I have to read it off a prayer card because I don’t have it memorized). They have both been a source of peace for me and my family.

I grew up with the Sacred Heart devotion in my home. My parents kept a statue of the Sacred Heart in their bedroom and it fascinated me as a child. I learned later that my father was enrolled in a brotherhood of the sacred heart. When he passed away, I inherited his sacred heart pin. A friend of mine introduced me to the Divine Mercy devotion and the Lord led me to a Divine Mercy chapel with a relic of St Faustina that you could touch as you entered. Now I keep 2 images of the Divine Mercy in my home.
 
First I put together a webpage explaining the hearts of Jesus and how they interrelate.

The devotions to the Sacred Heart and to Divine Mercy are very compatible and emphasis different aspects of Jesus’ love for us. They are both very beneficial to pray and can bestow many blessings upon us.

Keep up both devotions and live them.

In the last couple of weeks I have seen the Divine Mercy image in 2 churches and one monastery. In prominent view. This devotion is growing !

The image is also displayed next to the Blessed Sacrement at the church where I go for adoration.

I’m just getting started, however, there has been some changes for the better in my life since I started the chapelet… I read and reread about the importance of trust…from the ‘‘Diary.’’ I agree it should be savored bit by bit.

to me, they are essentially the same devotion, restated and recast for our times, I have never researched it, but wonder if same essential devotion was not taught during earlier times of trial in Church history, would be interested in anyone’s (name removed by moderator)ut here.
 
I am utterly convinced of the Divine Mercy devotion as given to Saint Faustina. I pray it as I can and have only sometimes just said for agiven situation or person, ‘For the sake of His Sorrowful Passion have mercy on us and on the whole world’ and God has heard this, so powerful is this prayer.

At 3pm I say ‘Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy, Lord have mercy’

If a soul can make the Divine Mercy Chaplet daily then this is exceedingly good, but I think moreover it is important to call upon God’s mercy often by simply saying ‘Jesus, mercy’ because I believe it is the devotion to God’s mercy and to His Cross that is important rather than making a long and ardous prayer routine that a soul might not be able to upkeep for good and various reasons. It is far better to have a heart disposed to mercy and to being merciful to others and that regulalry simply calls upon God’s mercy.

God’s heart is mercy, the devotions compliment each other.

Every soul should pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet at least once in their life. And for those who do not believe someone should say it for them, that is a real work of mercy.

I cannot see one devotion without the other. His Sacred Heart is a fountain of mercy. We ask for His mercy by reciting the chaplet. The wonderful thing is that we’re asking for mercy on the whole world, not just our individual situations. I’ve had my alarm set to 3 pm for some time now. My children, no matter where they are, at home; school; l or in the house, will also recite at minimum “Jesus I Trust in You” at this hour. This so heartwarming to me because they’re only 9, 10, and 16. I truly believe that this will always be a part of our lives.

Have you learned the ABC’s of the Divine Mercy Chaplet? It’s very simple but profound. Jesus I Ask you for mercy. Jesus I ask that you teach me to Be merciful. Jesus I ask that you strengthen my Complete trust in you.

How can anyone live without the need for mercy and the desire to ask for it? God Bless You and enrich your journey into this devotion!

Just want to add this note: I had major surgery in 2005. I was not supposed to be able to walk again (paralyzed below the neck) nor would I ever have the use of my vocal cords again. Right before surgery, the chaplet was recited by family around my bedside. Other than some pernanent nerve damage on my left side, I’m quite mobile. Trust in the Lord and as you read her diary, you will learn that St. Faustina often had many doubts. She ultimately gave in to trusting Jesus completely and as a result, here we are nearly 75 years later, thanking her for this. Lord, You have Blessed Me…expand my boundaries…Thank you.

I am embarrassed to say that I know very little of the devotions. But the way this thread has spoken of it, I will look into it. As far as the Jesus Prayer goes, that I do know a little about. From my understanding, it is not like Centering Prayer in that the formula is fairly strict and you’re not supposed to change it. I suppose one could, but I have enjoyed it for so long the way I have learned it, I don’t think I could change it. I enjoy it because it centers me, and uses the name of Jesus with every breath. I say it as I fall asleep at night, and try to begin using it in the morning. I wear a prayer rope around my wrist to remind me as St. Paul says, “to pray unceasingly.” Thank you all for sharing these devotions.

Have had a picture of the Sacred Heart in my home since as long as I can remember.

I say the short prayer, “Sacred Heart of Jesus I place all my trust in you”

I embraced the Divine Mercy Devotion ever since reading the Diary about 15 years ago.
Do any practicioners of the Jesus Prayer tried using << Jesus I trust in You >> or << by the merits of his Sorrowful Passion… have mercy on us and the whole world.>> ?

I say the 3 o’clock prayer, not with scruples may I add, but for some unknown reason I always know when it’s coming up to 3 as if someone was reminding me.

Some people criticize Saint Louis for this book, I suppose some of the Saints for some appear over zealous, but I suppose thats why they’re Saints.

Yes I’ve done this Devotion to Jesus through Mary, but it’s been awhile since I said the prayers.

I don’t say the Chaplet everyday, but the 3’oclock prayer I nearly always say.

I’ve distribute some leaflets explaining the Devotion that I obtained from some ladies in Dublin, even gave some to two Mormon ladies that came all the way from Utah to tell me about the Lord Jesus.

No as explained, for some weird reason I always either look at my watch coming up to 3 or it’s dead on the button when I think of it.

Maybe your guardian angel lets you know when it is 3… I suspect my guardian angel has helped me like that at times… Maybe I,m wrong…Either way… I have gratitude.

The image of the Divine Mercy is the only one I have where the person is coming towards us… This is one reason more to like the image I think…

Jesus coming to us…the parables come to mind…its certainly dfifferent than other Images…

I think I am going to re-read the Diary after I read it through for the first time…there are passages that will grow in meaning with time.
