That high total was not because of a failure of leadership. It was bad luck for having to go first, having large amounts of international travel from Europe, and a dense population. The remarkable thing is, New York recovered marvelously, and is now the model of how to do it right.
 
It depends - did her state officials take swift action to combat the problem or did they take a dismissive, do-nothing approach? Also, the federal government has much greater resources at its disposal than any given state government and the nature of a pandemic requires a coordinated national response to be effective - people move around too much for any one state to be able to contain it.

it sounds like her state took actions that were highly effective, but then relaxed them about the time her dad caught it. By end May all the cards were on the table, it had been in in the daily news for over 3 months.

And Como might as well have sent an execution squad into the nursing homes. That incredible act might be the reason why people don’t remember much about however many people came from Europe.
 
Kim Klacik is great. Longshot in this state, but she’s running for my district, which thanks to gerrymandering, is one of the nicest counties in the country, lumped in with Baltimore City. Makes no sense, but glad she is running. She’s got my vote.

Yes, Michelle’s speech was awful! I just don’t see how she fools so many people.

Speechwriters and Hollywood helped present this convention - filled with lies and untruths.

The speeches will be forgotten soon enough.

She strikes me as an angry soccer mom who would argue with a coach for taking her kid out during a game when their performance wasn’t up to par. I saw enough of that as a kid to tell it a mile away.
 
Whole buncha Dems I know are NOT happy about AOC’s speech. I didn’t watch it but was really surprised to see all the criticism in my feeds this morning.
 
Was their beef the brevity of her speech, the tone, or the fact that it had zero to do with Joe Biden? Just curious.

Different people have different beefs. Some of them think it was inappropriate of her not to get behind the candidate and some of them think she overstated the problems with USA or that the tone wasn’t right for a convention.

I just watched it and I was a little baffled how the average Dem could have such a problem with it. It sounds pretty much like how a lot of them harp all day long.

She was fulfilling a function of nominating Bernie Sanders.

People didn’t understand that and were miffed she didn’t mention Biden. Uninformed people with uninformed opinions.
