Oh, and just in case our visitor returns: Forum Rule 7:
Non-Catholics are welcome to participate but must be respectful of the faith of the Catholics participating on the board.

I hope our new friend, Babylon, stays. he(?) has been treated (mostly) with respect. Hit 'n run is a poor tactic and I don’t want to think that of anyone claiming to be Christian.

I encourage you to return, Babylon, and discuss one topic at a time; it simply works better that way. Which would you like to cover first?

A Christian is a follower of Christ. There are many people of various religions who are Christians simply because they have taken on the name of Christ. To say that Catholics are not Christians is against all that Christ has taught. If you believe in and follow the teachings of Christ then you are a Christian. It doesn’t matter if you go to the Catholic Church, the Baptist Church, The Mormon Church or any of the other many Christian denominations.

Yes, really, there is!

It’s fun to drive into Hell, MI and see the “Welcome to Hell!” sign! 😃

I don’t know about Hell, Grand Cayman… Dr Hawkins? 😃

Jennifer
Hell in Grand Cayman is a tourist attraction, not a town, run by the local shop owner. I got my photo taken in front of the (volcanic?) rocks which look suitably brimstone-like.

Let’s settle down. I see “Babylon” is back on line; he is probably reading through the thread, hopefully learning a lot and ready to listen.

Don’tcha love am anti-catholic who has all the facts and all the answers!

Well Bub, you asked for it.
I have a very hard time relating to certain religious groups.
No! Really!? I’d’ve never guessed… It does help a great deal to know what you’re talking about. Unless of course that is asking too much of you and you cannot read and understand actual Catholic teaching without your pastor looking over your shoulder to insure that you don’t see something that conflicts with what you’ve been taught.
It is not my business how one defines and practices ones faith…rock on. I just don’t understand how a Catholic, American or not is able to maintain their REALITY while worshiping Satan.
Yeah right…Lemme see here. Why do I not worship Satan again. Oh yeah! It’s because I confess Jesus Christ as my Lord and savior and was (Oh no! ) taught to do that by my Catholic faith.

James 4:7 Be subject therefore to God, but resist the devil, and he will fly from you.
If the Bible is the book Christianity is based on, then Catholics are definately NOT Christians, yet they believe that they are???
And you allege this with certainty based on what? Your personal and infallible interpretation of the Word of God? I can’t tell…

How can you be so historically ignorant of Christianity and still call yourself a believer? You have a Bible because my forefathers in the Catholic faith gave their lives to preserve and protect it and to copy it by hand so that it was available. You know what books are inspired canon of the Word of God from the Catholic councils of Carthage and Hippo in the 4th century that finally settled the issue of what is inspired scripture. The Council of Trent defended that when it was attacked by the “reformers”.
If people do not understand the message of Christ, that is ok, it can be complex to those who have never read the Bible. If you are a Catholic, and do not read your Bible, then you are not a Christian.
And this new gospel that is different from that of the New Testament is based upon just exactly what passage of scripture again? What’s that? I can hear you! Surely you have a definitive passage of scripture that clearly tells us all that unless a person reads the Bible they cannot be saved?😛
But Let’s go deeper into reality.
We might…if you had brought any with you…
If you DO read your bible, then you absolutely Cannot be a true Catholic. Why? Because the Catholic Religion performs many Rituals that are stated in the Bible by name as Sin, one specifically as an abomination; they are as follows:
Stop it! C’mon…I can’t type when I’m laughing this hard! That ain’t fair!:rotfl:
  1. Prayer to Mary, the Pope, Saints and anyone NOT named Jesus Christ
The Communion of Saints is right there in the Word of God.
  1. The Beloved crusifix (abomination)
Portrayed Christ as crucified before their eyes.
  1. Bingo (sorry, it’s funny, but a sin in the lord’s house)
I have yet to see a Catholic Church that held Bingo IN the church. But that won’t fit your propaganda will it? Hate it for you.

More importantly please show me a passage of scripture anywhere that condemns Bingo…or even gambling in general. You can’t because it’s simply not there…
  1. Confession
Oh gee, I guess the plain sense of the New Testament doesn’t count then huh? Lessee? John 20:21-23, 1st John 1:9, and James 5:14-16 where it clearly says that confession of sins is supposed to be to elders (presbyters/priests. The evolution of the words) of the church and they have the authority and power to hear and either forgive or retain those sins. That’s what the Word of God says.
  1. Calling a priest FATHER
Call No Man Father
And you know what, obviously not all priests are gay, but before you allow a Catholic give ANY justification for a Gay Priest, remember the Bible calls Homosexuality a Sin (Actually, it is an abomination for man to lie with man. Not Mine, the Lords, do not judge me)
Just as sinful as heterosexuality…when abused. Do you sleep with any woman out of marriage? Do you lust? Just as bad as any Gay person. BTW… I don’t know one single gay priest. Not one.
So before we make our children sin any more by repeating the Chant known as the “Hail MARY” 20 times for her sins, maybe we as adults can try to explain to them that The only thing WE know for sure, is that people good or bad, fat or skinner, stupid or smart NEED “Something to hold on to”. Whether it’s feeling superficial about getting a tan, or being the Best “deacon” in a church you do not even understand, it really is simply a psychological FIX for most.
Nice rant…irrational…but rant nonetheless.

Lets all say a Hail Mary or two for Babylon and let the Holy Spirit and all the Angels & Saints open his mind and his heart.

I personally think that as secure Christians we shouldn’t get too rattled by posters like Babylon:cool:
showing Christian love must be the best witness surely?

I am going to answer your question as though you came here with a serious question, although we all know you have come here simply to regurgitate the erroneous things you have been taught somewhere about the Catholic faith.

The answer to your question is “No”. Catholics have been both saints and sinners. While we can speculate about the fate of unrepentant sinners, saints most assuredly do not go to Hell.

The Church professes her faith in the Athanasian Creed: “They that have done good shall go into life everlasting, and they that have done evil into everlasting fire” (Denzinger, “Enchiridion”, 10th ed., 1908, n.40). The Church has repeatedly defined this truth, e.g. in the profession of faith made in the Second Council of Lyons (Denx., n. 464) and in the Decree of Union in the Council of Florence (Denz., N. 693): “the souls of those who depart in mortal sin, or only in original sin, go down immediately into hell, to be visited, however, with unequal punishments” (poenis disparibus).

You can read more about Hell in the Catholic Encyclopedia online: newadvent.org/cathen/07207a.htm

Tantum is Correct…

He may have come in here with his (?) understanding, but he did come here. Whether he is simply here to “slap” us or not… its OK. Several people have given him good resources. If he truly has questions, let him ask. If he is just here to instigate and not really learn, he’ll be banned soon enough… But we should give the guy the benefit of the doubt.

Let’s see how he responds first and above all, no matter how much Vitriol he may have for the Church, we must treat him with the love of Christ… otherwise, we will only “prove” to him that we are wrong by our actions.

You catch more flies with honey…

In Christ

:DGod love you!😃

By the way, why do you think you have trouble relating to some religious groups???

Unfortunately I do not belong or attend ANY church. I understand that my original post of “Do all Catholics go to Hell” created an stir, but who here can be offended? As a newbie I wanted attention. Does anyone think I believe all Catholics go to hell?

I apologize to all I may have offended, but please don’t think I’m done. I want more and am prepared to learn and argue! (Edited by Moderator)

And by the way, I am very impressed by most of your reactions, your faith is apparent as well as admirable.

You are always welcome to come home and join us. 🙂 There is always another place at our table.

Peace to you,

Kelly

Glad to see you came back… We, sadly, see far too many people that come in here, post once with their understanding, and never comeback…

Please…

Pull up a chair and ask questions… All we ask is that it be civil…

Instead of saying things like Why do Catholics worship idols…

you can state the same question like “It is my understanding that …” it gets the same point across, without offending

All the same, Welcome, and may Christ bless you in your search for truth

In Christ
