Do Catholic guys and girls play video games?

My Ce’Nedra is woderful actually, Geran is still recovering from being the Child of Dark and I would think that Beldaran is ok.

I am finishing the last one ( for the second time) I forgot some of the details, so re -reading them was awesome

I picked up Pawn of Prophecy for a quarter at a local rummage sale when I was 14. (Too many years ago to count ;)) and the rest is history.

I’ve read most of Eddings works but the Belgariad is still my fave. I can just see Faldor’s farm…

I’m a girl, and far from being young. I like first person shooter games, and started playing when Doom 1 first came out. I still like Quake II, but real life gets in the way, so I only play occasionally.

i’m a young guy I Love RPG’s 😃 very cool i love alll types of Online games off my computer or console games PS3 is going to be sweet.
 
I love playing video games. I have a PS2 and a Game Boy Color. I havn’t played in a while, though. 4 honors classes will do that to you.

I had a PS2 for about 2 years before i first played on an xbox. It was very confusing. Playing Halo for the first time, my friend told me to push x. I told him that I was, only to discover that I was pushing y.

I played a game cube once, and that was much easier to play than an xbox. I actually liked the design of the game cube compared to the PS2 but I never got one. I play computer games also, but not internet games, other than Yahoo! Pool.

I like racing games, like nfs underground, even though i hate that music. I prefer the music on Vice City. Now that I think back on it, perhaps I need to question my morals when playing that game. I love 007 games. havn’t gotten around to he new goldeneye, though. I also want to get shadow of rome really badly.
 
I’m more looking forward to Shadow of the Colossus. I’ve been trying to find a used copy of Ico somewhere, but it’s getting really hard to find lately with the upcoming release of SotC.

The Revolution controller surprises me to no end. When I first saw thumbnail images, I was appaled. Then I looked at the full-size images and read the accompanying story and I started to get into the idea more.

The whole pointer thing sounds really cool, but like the DS, I think it will take a while to really figure out how to use it. I think a game like Okami (which I’m really really really looking forward to this November on the PS2) would be well-served by this particular functionality. It will take a while for developers to really get a handle on it though. I hope that doesn’t end up hurting the system before it has a chance to get started (didn’t seem to hurt the DS, but Nintendo owns the portable market, PSP not-withstanding).

I’m also not thrilled with the analog stick “plugin” being a separate component from the rest of the controller. Nintendo is definitely going to be revolutionary this generation, but let’s hope they don’t get too far ahead of the rest of the industry and wind up losing the mass market like Sega did (oddly enough, everything Sega did (with the possible exception of Shenmue) would be totally successful if they did it today…).
 
Two of my sons play Counterstrike almost every chance they get.

My youngest daughter used to play it as well while her brother lived at home (now she writes Fan Fiction stories and posts online).

I just started Belgarath the sorcerer, and that continues where the seeress of kell left off( or at least the prologue does)
 
I’m a gal, and a gamer. I play old consoles (mostly emulated consoles right now, but I started with an Atari 2600 when I was a kid, and saw the verge of Nintendo/SEGA/Sony and X-Box come into play nowadays), love boardgames like Yahtzee, Risk, Scrabble and Trival Pursuit, have been an online gamer since Ultima Online first came out, and really enjoy CRPG’s and FPS.

Additionally, I grew up with pen and paper games, choose your own adventure books and CCG’s, so I’ve got an extra bonus to my geeked out skills. 😉

Though, I’ll admit I’ve not finished converting to Catholicism yet, but no doubt I’ll still be just as silly into gaming as I’ve ever been.

Currently really involved in the game Guild Wars.

I love RPGs, (When will FFXII finally be released!!!), and I’m currently into World of Warcraft. I regularly beat my hubby at crash mode in burnout 2.

I can’t wait for the day that gaming is finally recognized as a real form of entertainment (like movies) and not just kidstuff…
So many ppl (ie, my parents) look down on gaming as this thing my hubby and I will grow out of.
I doubt we will, we don’t want to, and it will only get ‘worse’ when we get kids of our own.

I’m Catholic, I play video games. Right now I’m replaying Dungeon Siege; I also play online with Ragnarok Online, though it’s been awhile since I went back to Rune Midgard (the world of Ragnarok). My favourite is still Baldur’s Gate II though, as well as Final Fantasy VIII and Pokemon (yes, I still love that game).
 
I’m a 16 year-old high school seminarian who loves video games.

Right now, my favorite system is the DS, but I enjoy any quality game on any system. (Katamari Damacy, Civilization, and God of War are just a few of my favorites…any well-made RPG also earns my respect very easily :o )

I think that if anything can introduce gaming as an acceptable form of entertainment to the maistream (as movies are) then the Nintendo Revolution controller can. I am sick and tired of seeing adults looking down on video games as child’s toys. 😦 If any of these adults saw games like Zelda or Final fantasy, I think they would probably change their minds.

I am greatly anticipating Mario Kart DS (which looks like it will revert to the classic style of Mario Kart 64 rather than the two-player in a kart antics of the gamecube version) and with the online play, I think it will probably acheive classic status.

BTW, I have another game thread in the Water Cooler forum 😃

Ummmm… How exactly do you play Quake 3 offline? Do you just fire up an arena filled with bots? Same with Counter Strike…

I can’t imagine playing either game against a computer. They’re so easy as to be boring. The whole point of those games is to go up against difficult opponents (and hopefully frag the heck out of them so as to gloat over their lifeless corpses).

Way to go on the F1 game. If you’re big into motorsports (F1 and otherwise), might I recommend Test Drive Lemans for the Dreamcast, Ferrari F355 for any platform you can find it on (DC, Xbox and PS2 I believe, and an absolutely awesome arcade machine with three screens and a force feedback clutch pedal even!) and the most excellent WRC series of games (which I think capture the best elements of World Rally racing which is my personal favorite international race series… the F1 equivalent for dangerous road surfaces if you will).
 
i have a ps2 and a bunch of games (no online). ive recently started playing computer games again, and now i cant get away from them >.<. especially the online ones…
 
I am an 18 year old guy. I prefer PC to console games. The only games I will play on my own are RPGs. Any competitive game should only be played against other people because AI can never beat even a midlevel gamer. I love Starcraft, TFC (a mod of Half Life), and various other RTSs or FPSs. Last year in high school my friends had a lot of LAN parties with about a dozen people. A bit nerdy of a thing to do considering most of us were varsity athletes, but it was a blast. The best part was always the girls showing up to hang out and just standing around because they don’t like video games. They’d be very interested when we talked about it, prompting me to ask what interested them about 12 guys playing computer games in a garage for 12 hours.

Anyways, I’d just like to point out that Super Mario Cart is the best game ever, and that I can probably beat anyone in the world at it.
 
I have all three consoles, too (Xbox, Gamecube, PlayStation 2), but it’s not like I got them all at once. My brothers and I have a drawer full of games from all three consoles not to mention Game Boy and DVD’s. It’s not like we could fill a closet with all of our electronic stuff, but it’s enough to be considered a “gamer”.

I like the sports games, most notably NCAA Football. The sports games these days have so many cool options that it makes it like you’re playing football at one point and living in virtual reality at the next.

I played Grand Theft Auto, but I didn’t like it one bit. I don’t mind shoot 'em - kill 'em games, but if you’re the bad guy killing the good guys (especially in real-time games), I draw the line. It gives one a sense of pride when he kills the monster that has been ravaging his city, but to kill policemen and innocent people… a big no-no for my conscience.

What do Catholic gamers here think of games that deal with the Crusades or strategy games with Catholic nations? Just wondering…
