Do Catholics celebrate Easter

Yes we have real world applications of God.
 
April, you have stated in your religious beliefs that you were raised Catholic. In all honesty, did you really not know if Catholics celebrated Easter or did you phrase your question for shock value?

Ego gets in the way of recognizing them. Not of their existence 🤷

Spiritual realities are there even if our ego prevent us from recognizing them. 🤷

Fantastic.

I think a real world application of God would be if he could stop the horrors in Syria. How do I go about arranging with God to do that. What would he need?

Of course they do. The existence of something isn’t affected by someone’s belief or disbelief in it. That is like saying if I truly do not think the Eiffel Tower exists, then poof it doesn’t exist.

It is my disbelief that keeps me from knowing that the Eiffel Tower exists not that the Eiffel Tower doesn’t exist because I don’t believe it does. Hence your ego being in the way. God still exists whether you believe in Him or not.

I am not interested in whether I can recognise them. But I am interested if they exist.

Senora what are you doing to stop the horrors in Syria and elsewhere? That is what He needs… people like you and I to step up and “Love Your God and Love Your Neighbor”

God is everywhere and everything.
God is in the smiling, laughing child who is at play and in the tear-stained face of a daughter saying goodbye to her dying parent.

God is in that beautiful sunset, the crocuses peaking through the snow, and in the birds singing the songs of Spring.

God is in all of the people on this board who are trying to help you.

God always comes in quiet ways because He wants us to want Him. He has given us a choice, and if you let Him, He will show you His presence in ways you will never be able to imagine or explain, that’s why it is called faith!

So you are a sign seeker?
God in order to be real has to fall into the definition you ego has determined he must in order go be real?

So your ego sets the criteria?

I don’t agree.

It is near Easter. It makes sense.

How many times do we see things and don’t question them. My Chinese sister in law, asked about the reason for chocolate eggs in the shops and I explained a little of what I knew about the Goddess and fertility, hence eggs and bunnies. It then dawned on me that catholics called it easter sunday and I did not understand that. I remember chocolate eggs are our catholic school.

I also knew of Passover - vaguely- from my schooldays, but could not remember if the Catholic Passover, was the same as the Jewish one. I never liked the story of the killing of the egyptians. So I just ended up asking the question.

From my own standpoint. I feel if Jesus existed, then he was a man, not a God and did not rise from the dead. Easter for me is about kids, a couple of days holiday and seeing them having fun and eating chocolate, nothing more sinister than that.

So ‘God’ is just a euphemism for ‘nice things’ or things that touch you.

I mean that is sinister in and of itself.

You reduce the single Holiest few days of the Catholic Liturgical year to a little fun with the kiddies eating chocolate. and add on to that the ancient heresy of denying Jesus’ divinity and you have an action packed slap in the face.

Aprilfloyd, I honestly believe that you “know” much more than you are letting on, and are really here just to argue. I don’t have time for that.

I sincerely hope that you find what it is you are seeking and I don’t think that will ever happen until you are honest with yourself.
