Do Catholics ignore these scriptures?

What other parts of the Bible does Catholicism teach is human opinion?
Pretty much anything that says, “Here is my opinion …” or words to that effect. The Bible was written by normal human beings; it was not dictated from upon high by God through some kind of automatic writing. (We would most likely throw it away if it had been, since automatic writing is an occult practice, anyway.)

Don’t feed the troll!
Amen!

An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who intentionally posts controversial or contrary messages in an on-line community such as an on-line discussion forum or group with the intention of baiting users into an argumentative response.

Why do so many non-Catholics apply their own personal opinion to John 6 (as well as countless church fathers prior to the bible being cannonized) when it discusses the eucharist? I would think this would be a much more crucial issue. I also don’t know of many protestants that wear headcoverings.

Also- why do you neglect 1 Timothy 3:15, which calls the church “the pillar and foundation of the truth?” Note that it says the church, and not the bible. The bible is a product of the church, not the other way around. Jesus founded a church, he didn’t write a book. The Catholic Church decided what books would be in the Bible. He gave the church the authority to bind and loose on earth, which would be held in heaven. If the church chooses to loosen the rules on headcoverings, it can, because Jesus gave it that authority. It is not a matter of doctrine, but of ritual, which can be changed without compromising the faith.

I have looked at John 6 extensively and do not think it is talking about the Last supper.

Jews did not wear their hear long in the first century.
I do not think most people feel the Shroud is legit.
I have read on various Protestant sites that Jewish men of the first century didn’t have long hair. I can’t find this on any Jewish archeological sites that are secular though. Could you direct me to one?

I actually think that these Protestant sites are confusing the social habits of Romans with the Jewish people. Roman males wore short hair. I have no idea how most Jewish men of the time period wore their hair, though.

So your opinion is better informed that the one of the Apostolic Fathers?

“Depends on the time in history. We learn about the church now from the Bible.”
Yes, on orders of who?

“Yes, and two of his disciples wrote.”
How do you know they were his disciples realy writting, who tell you?

“Not true at all. The early church was not Catholic”
Who toldl you that, your mommy?
What they were them, were is your evidence?.

“If they preach the gospel, they will ensure that people reach the Kingdom of Heaven, which is what the bind and loose refers to.”
Who told you so, your mommy again? People in that time did not thought that.

“Not if it contradicts the Bible”
So you have allready given all your good to the poor?
So you have allready pulled an eye when it offended you?
Who is cherry picking now?

Please do not feed the troll.

Yes. To the extent they departed from the teachings of Christ, yes.
Yes, on orders of who?
I do not understand this statement.

Who “tell” me? Well history has “told” me and I accept it by faith as well. Who do you think wrote them?
Who toldl you that, your mommy?
What they were them, were is your evidence?.
My mother was not Christian.
“What they were them”? Well, hard to argue with that.
Who told you so, your mommy again? People in that time did not thought that.
Of course they did.

Just about.

I think I just gave him a bucket full.

The*** Letter to the Smyrnaeans***
was written by Saint Ignatius of Antioch around AD 110.
It mentions the resurrection of Jesus: (2:1a) “Now, he suffered all these things for our sake, that we might be saved. And he truly suffered, even as he truly raised himself up; not as certain unbelievers say, that he suffered in semblance, they themselves only existing in semblance.”
It mentions the importance and the real presence of the Eucharist: (7:1) “They abstain from the Eucharist and from prayer, because they confess not the Eucharist to be the flesh of our Saviour Jesus Christ, which suffered for our sins, and which the Father, of His goodness, raised up again. They who deny the gift of God are perishing in their disputes”

Chapter 8 of that letter states as follows:

Chapter 8. Let nothing be done without the bishop.

See that you all follow the bishop, even as Jesus Christ does the Father, and the presbytery as you would the apostles; and reverence the deacons, as being the institution of God. Let no man do anything connected with the Church without the bishop. Let that be deemed a proper Eucharist, which is [administered] either by the bishop, or by one to whom he has entrusted it. Wherever the bishop shall appear, there let the multitude [of the people] also be; even as, wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the CatholicChurch. It is not lawful without the bishop either to baptize or to celebrate a love-feast; but whatsoever he shall approve of, that is also pleasing to God, so that everything that is done may be secure and valid.

Sounds like someone didn’t do their homework…

RD think St. Ignatius’ Letters are fake. You could use other ECF which also use Catholic like St. Augustine… or you can go to Acts 9:31 the original Greek…has Catholic on it…

Probably a forgery.
Or an interpolation
But in no way did they have the same practices, no way.

They aren’t forgeries. He had other letters. 7 of his letters which my friend quote here are authentic.
You did not answer a one of the original questions I posed to you earlier in the thread. Most of the answers seem to be cafeteria Catholics. Since you seem to be the real deal, how about answering them with real Catholic answers?

I also looked at them, and I noticed one of the other Catholics already answered them. I don’t need to repeat what was already been said.

What is the name of the first church father to say that the Bible must only be followed when it relates to moral or faith issues?
Where in the Bible does it say that?

Why would you not want to follow what the Bible teaches?

How do you decide what is a moral or faith issue?
Those who are a part of the apostolic tradition of the Church get to decide upon those things, just as they decided upon the books of the Bible.

The scriptures are dead words upon the page, whereas the living apostolic tradition preserves living Word of God,and is guided by the Spirit in the interpretation of scripture. Only those who are entrusted with the living Word of God can decide upon the Word of God written in the dead words of the scriptures.

I do not think he had long hair because the scriptures do not contradict themselves. Bald? I have no idea.
Actually, if one would read the passage, it would fit Jesus perfectly since, as in another passage Paul will say, He is made sin itself for the sake of our sins. So in that regard then, having long hair might be a disgrace for Christ, but in doing so, in such a way He bore that disgrace which we should bear.

You seem to be in great denial here that an early Christian should mention the Catholic Church, yet even a Protestant book, referenced by David Currie, has that very same quotation from St. Ignatius of Antioch. The book is The Ante-Nicene Fathers, published by Eerdmans.
