Do Catholics still support Trump

Working to restrict illegal immigration, reducing business regulation, reducing taxes, withholding funding from the UN when they go against our interests, not caving to tin pot dictators like Un and calling his bluffs, tightening border security, being tougher on Islamic terrorism, not pushing for gun control.

That’s what I got off the top of my head.

Working to restrict illegal immigration
The number of illegal immigrants in the US hit a ten year low under Obama. He simply continued the trend. I don’t think you can give him credit for that.
reducing business regulation
Yes, I agree. There are two many stupid, overreaching regulations. BUT, business, left unfettered, tends to do things against the interest of the people.

He cancelled a rule that required financial planners to act in the interest of their clients.
Ended a rule that allowed consumers to file class action lawsuits against financial institutions.
Revoked an executive order that mandated compliance by contractors with laws protecting women in the workplace.
Ended a rule that barred employers from taking some or all of the tips given to service employees.
reducing taxes
During an up economy this wasn’t needed. He should have kept it for when it was needed.
not caving to tin pot dictators like Un and calling his bluffs
You mean acting like a 12 year old getting into a “mine is bigger than yours” contest with probably the one world leader less stable than him? I don’t see that as a positive.
tightening border security
Yeah, where is that wall? Who is paying for it?
being tougher on Islamic terrorism
Is there anyone in favor of Islamic terrorism?

It’s kind of a pain to go line by line on everything and have a big discussion.

The walls being built, there is current construction going on now, I have clients who are currently hauling materials down there for it.

His response to Un I found hilarious, and appropriate. You may disagree.

Taxes should always be lowered, our corporate tax rate was ridiculous.

I don’t know enough about illegal immigration rates over time to discuss who did what where, but we’re stepping up arrests of the people who came here illegally.

Obama was awful on terrorism, wouldn’t even address it directly and danced around the issue. His decision to not fight to renew our status of forces agreement in Iraq before the Iraqi’s had a firm hold on everything directly led to the rise of ISIS, and then he did the bare minimum when it came to combating that threat.

I don’t know. There is no evidence of contracts being let to build anything but prototypes. Building prototypes is easy. Have they even decided on designs yet?

As a blanket statement, that makes no sense. You shouldn’t talk about raising or lowering taxes, but talk about the deficit and current spending. Your tax break added 1.5 trillion to the deficit over time. That is not good fiscal policy except in the deepest recession.

No, actually border arrests are way down under Trump. A simple Google search shows that. Deportations are significantly up, though.

So, congratulations on breaking up those families!

The deficit will have to be addressed, through spending cuts. All I know is I’ve got customers going down there, delivering materials, and viewing construction. First hand accounts.

As far as breaking up families, guess they should have came in the country the right way. They can always take their children back to their home country with them. They’re able to get citizenship in their parents home countries through their families.

Standard response to any question so I’m sure he’s ready to be a hero but there’s no guarantee to everything.

They have been burned before…

I agree to a degree…

It’s still around, but it is not as prevalent as some claim. For instance, if you didn’t support Obama the left would call it racism. Of course they’ve been delusional since the sixties, but imo their inaccurate name-calling isn’t news.

So, it’s so important–the “SINGLE ISSUE”–but he’s given no indication that he intends to change anything to make it better for unborn babies in the US.

As I said upthread, I favor Jeb Bush’s plan of giving a path to permanent legal status but not citizenship to people that are now here.

Immigration is a topic where Catholics have a real conundrum. We are allowed to protect our borders and to protect the interests of our country, but we have to temper that with the compassion Christ calls us to have for the foreigners among us.

My grandfather came from Ireland. I try to remember that. Yes, the standard retort is that he came legally, got me, but we are all immigrants.

This is the greatest country in the world. We are a land of opportunity; but, we are also a land that has a birthrate lower than the replacement rate. We NEED immigration. I need a lot of workers to pay for my Social Security and Medicare. 😎

My mother is an immigrant as well. I don’t have a problem with immigration, as long as they follow established procedure.

I also disagree with automatic birth right citizenship. I think the law needs amended so that one or both parents need to be citizens before being able to be born into citizenship here.

Ugh, don’t get me started on SS. That ponzi scheme infuriates me. That’s one place I do vehemently disagree with Trump on.

It’s the Constitution, but the interpretation can be changed. I agree, actually. I would change it, however, to be that a parent has to be in the country legally for a newborn to be a citizen. Maybe both.

After 8 years of living under Obama it is refreshing.

My only complaint is that we have to be captive to a media that wants to destroy Trump

and impeach him. We have to listen to lies and the distortion of truth day in and day out.

I pray daily for President Trump, his family and his administration. And I pray for his enemies to be exposed for what they really are.
Actually he didn’t. He supported Moore’s opponent in the primaries.

Why would you call an accused ephebophile (Moore) a pedophile?
Why don’t you have a clue about the meanings of the words that you are using?
Why insult everyone’s intelligence on this thread?

God bless.

Twice Steevyo, you responded to T, but it quoted my post.
It is good to double check which quote is in the box before replying. I have had the same
problem myself. I don’t know why it captures the wrong quote.

They should see what Mexico and Canada do as well. No hesitation whatsoever to kick people out.

What exactly is pro-Trump in your view? A lot of people like what he is doing right now, but aren’t on twitter blindly defending the guy.
