Do Protestants Really Hate Catholicism?

Hello I do believe we had this question before and i do know Faith without works is dead and works without Faith is dead because the two go together and work well together, also you must Believe, confess your sins ask for forgiveness,be Baptized into the Death of Christ and walk the walk to talk the talk. I am a sinner but through forgeveness and repenting of mysinful nature i am forgiven. I usto think that i was saved all the time but i realize you can loose your salvation if you mess up. that’s why God is in the forgiving business. He loves us and chastises us when we do wrong .No one gets away with sin,and if there wasn’t a practice of forgiven we caould get away with anything. We may be Baptized, but we fall under a sinful nature and are prone to sin that’s why we ask God for forgiveness. We are not as strict with ourselfs as we should be and we back slide,so we need guidence and pray for grace and the help of God to see us thruogh. How many times do the Protestants confess their sins to each other? I was one and i know and i did not come back to the church because i was afraid and needed shelter i came back because of love, and i feel this love more aboundantly, more then when i was Protestant. Both are loving people and beautiful people but i feel a completeness i never found out side the Catholic church. And i feel proud to be a Catholic and if i have to die a Catholic i will. I was lied to when i was outside the church and alot of things are not true that are said about the church, and let us not forget there are good and bad in all beliefs people make mistakes alot and i am one of the biggest mistake makers around, when it comes to being humble like i wish i was. You are a Christian right? Then I ask you to pray for me to be more humble Thank You Love of Christ Nancy
Dear Nancy,

I have read your view. It appears that you used to be a Protestant or non-Catholic. Now, you are or almost you are. Could you share with us your path back home (returning home) or being a convert if you do not mind.

Much respect

best regards,

WLYCHAN 64: You asked me to do a conversion, well i have never done one,so i realy dont know what i am doing but here goes. I was born a Catholic and went to church alot when i was a child. I wont go into details. Then when i was around in my late 20’s i was divorced and couldn’t receve holy communion. I did not know i could be reconsiled to the church so i left and met up with some Baptists and studied with them. It was then i wondered why there was 2 bibles and they were differnt, so i usto pray to God that some day everyone would all have the same book, then i went to differnt religons, and they all taught something differnt, that confused the heck out of me,i learned alot, but inside i was a empty vessel. All the people i met were realy nice, but in the bible studys they talked about the Catholic’s expecially the 7thday adventists in fact i still get e-mail from one that was on this forum who is trying to convert me to his belief He’s not awear ive been there and did a Daniels and Rev. seminar with them Boy they did cut up the POPE back then.I did not join them but i studied. and the Jehovahs witnesses, and the list goes on. I was searching and i felt the Catholic church was not a good place to go to so i became a Cory Tenboom and went fom church to church when ever i wanted, and there was no structure in my life,no rules, nothing that was happening that was realy pertaining to the Word of God. There was singing and dinners and collections and outings and basicly the same old same old. I was saved and free to do what ever i wanted, and i did. I went dancing, smoked cigerettes, raised hell on earth, and now i’m paying for it all. Then i met the Mormons and they had structure so i went to their church and got sick every times i did. They thought everyone outside the church was wayward, I was so hurt i left and never went back because i knew my dad and others i knew and loved, were not wayward and going to hell.I was so discusted and lonely i sat on my hands for 1 year and did nothing. I did visit a Congregational church in town and joined the singing group and one day i asked the lady near me “What do you believe about the after life?” She said" OH we sleep" and i was sad in my heart so i knew i couldnt stay there because i wanted to be absent from the body and present with the Lord. So that wasnt going to work then i went to the Pentcostal not far away and hands were all over me the minute i walked in the door, the music could wake the dead and they danced all around me and all i could do was pray real hard i would find a way out while i still had ears and could still pray to the Father. So Then i went on the computer and realy didn’t know about this machine at all and i ended up on a Catholic forum and when i first came on i never laughed so much in my born days,i thought it was a play someone was doing and i found out it was not and got told off, but i stuck around and i ended up understanding the person who was i thought rude and uncareing was the most beautiful wonderful person i ever met and that she was defending her faith and she realy does a better job doing that then any pastor i ever herd speak and then others came along and tried to help me and they were the most loving and careing peple i ever met. I felt right at home and i was not a Catholic. I just went back to the church 4 weeks ago. I just recieved communion Saturday night and it was beautiful. Today i used my prayer cloth i sent out for and it has the picture of the shroud on it. Well i held it to me face and prayed the prayer it came with and the lights dimmed to yellow, the whole room went yellow and i smiled cause i knew that never happens and the lights never went out they just dimmed and it never happened again.Mabe you think i’m nuts but i felt peace wonderful peace i cannot discribe to you. I love these people and i will die a Catholic. I came home and theres nothing out there for me, nothing but confussion and pain, there is so much to do now and my life is so peaceful. I’m excited about life now and find myself doing things ive never done before.Praise GOD Praise GOD Praise GOD! You are Loved Nancy:)

Yes, I know. Can you enlightening me as to what, if any , no proper for the Holy mass of the RCC?

wlychan64
I love to talk about the Holy Mass because it is here where Jesus is truly present in Holy Communion.

It looks like a word was left out in your question. Did you mean to say --What, if anything, is not proper for the Holy Mass of the RCC? Are you asking about good manners, like not talking unless it is necessary? Or are you asking about praying? I believe you already know about not recieving Holy Communion. But it is proper to pray to Jesus as if He had come to you in Holy Communion. By that I mean, you can ask Jesus to come into your soul and tell Him how much you want Him there.

I will do my best to answer any question. Thank you for asking.

Blessings,
granny

All human life is meant for eternal life.

I’m still reading and trying to understand. So far what I’ve learned is that the RCC teaches that works that come from faith have a part in our justification. That works themselves do not “save” us, but they prove up our relationship with God. But I’m still struggling with “baptism” being a catalyst for salvation or that baptism literally saves us. I was taught that, and from what I’ve read in the bible, baptism is an act of obedience after we accept the free gift of Grace that Christ offers. Perhaps someone can clarify these things.

Hello, baptism as you know is a requirement by the Lord Jesus, it is so you can except the death of Christ and confess to the world you believe in Christ death and resurection and your sins are washed away and you start a new, with hope in your heart and knowing you will be resurected some day to eternel life or eternal damnation and that is up to all believers to make that choice God does not force anyone unto himself, many are called but few are chosen. Something i never thought of when i was a protestant was going to hell much i thought if i believed i’d go but that is not true. you need to walk the walk to talk the talk Faith without works is dead. Love and Marraige goes together like a horse and carrige,You know? If you sin after Baptism you confess it and go on. We are striving to the prize we havent obtained it yet. First you must run the race and complete it before you can gain a prize. Those who endure till the end shall be saved! Love of Christ Nancy

You are being very fair. And you do know a lot about the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
Let me answer you by asking you to clarify or answer the question you have posed previously, ‘And do you know a lot about the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass’?

Is this a question you want me to answer or is it a criticism on me or any other interpretations, sir?

I am grateful for your clarifications if you do not mind.

Thank you very much indeed for your valuable time and efforts made.

There are many Protestants who hate Catholics and there are many Catholics who hate Protestants. If anyone from either group really knew Jesus as Lord and Savior, then they wouldn’t hate anyone. Jesus said the two greatest commandments: Love God, Love eachother (paraphrased) The Bible says God is love and if anyone truly is an enemy we’re to love them too! So remember what Paul said because there are quarrels among you, then you’re still in the flesh and not in the Spirit (paraphrased). We need to come together and love each other. God Bless!

I agree with your views entirely. However, I do not think the two groups of believers hate each others. They do not know each others well enough to be alike but hatred is rather out of proportion if I am allowed to say so.

Jerry Marino, please go to my new post if you have a chance it is in Sacred Scripture and it is called It takes years to become a Priest but $25.00 to become a Minister. Please read it if you can Love of Christ Nancy
Please be advised that it all depends on what denomination your talking about. I use to be an Assemblies of God Pastor, I went to Trinity School of Theology for 2 years, Bearean Bible College for 1 year and Central Bible College for 4 years thats 7 years of college to become a Pastor, way more that a Catholic Priest is Required. These kids of arguments lead to hurt. Its really not about if your a Catholic or a Protestant. It’s about truly knowing Jesus, And the true Jesus, the Son of the Living God. Jesus paid a huge price for our salvation and Hebrews said He did it alone, by His own blood. His Blood was shed for all who come to Him; John 3:16, John 6, Acts 4:12, John 14:6. He said in John 6 all that the Father gives me I will never drive away. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood have eternal life; He who comes to me will NEVER go hungry and he who believes in me will NEVER go thiristy. God can not lie!!! If he says these things he will stand by them. I don’t know who you look up to, but we look up to God. Hebrews “Keep your eyes on Jesus the Author and finisher of your FAITH.” God Bless and have a Blessed Day in our LORD

Dear wlychan64,

Back in March, you shared your experience of going to Holy Mass. This was in posts near #439 and #445. Please excuse me. I have a hard time remembering everything.

I wrote to you:
“How wonderful that you are loving God through the Mass at a Catholic Church.”

This is a compliment. I also meant to compliment you the other day. There was no criticism.

I am very glad you asked for clarification. Now, I can tell you again that going to Mass is very important. There, you are sitting, kneeling, or standing in front of Jesus Christ Who is truly present in the Eucharist.

We know that Jesus is always with you and me. He loves us every minute. But in the Catholic Church, Jesus is present in a very special way.

You already know very much about Jesus. Your heart is full of love.

Do you have any questions about how to become a Catholic?

Blessings,
granny

There is a story about a little boy who was afraid of the dark. When his mother was putting him to bed, she told him not to be afraid of the dark because Jesus was with him. The little boy said: But I want a Jesus with skin."

We are like that little boy in the dark. We know that Jesus has saved us, but we also need to see, hear, and feel Jesus saving us. That is the way, we humans are. We can accept the free gift of Grace that Jesus offers us but we still want to have Jesus with “skin.”

The Catholic Church has seven Sacraments which give us grace and bring us closer to God. These Sacraments are also called “signs” of God’s actions. In Baptism, water is the “sign” of God washing our souls clean from sin. We hear the priest say the words, blessing us, and know that God is really the One Who is saving us and blessing us. The water is real and we can feel it. It is a sign of God’s very real love for us.

I like to use the word blessings because it is my way of asking God to bless all who read my post.

All human life is worthy of profound respect from the moment of conception.

We can’t earn Salvation, but our acts of obedience prove up our relationship with Christ. Grace is a free gift that cannot be earned.
Correct. That is the 2000 year teaching of the Catholic Church.
The sheep who accept the free gift will be known by the fruit that they bear. The goats may have claimed to know Christ but proved that they believed yet did nothing to show their belief.
Nothing in Scripture to says that, though Scripture supports it. All you’re doing is muddying up the waters, a protestant specialty, while avoiding an answer to my question. What does the Lord say about faith in Mt. 25:31-46? Let me know if you need some help.
I’m not here to proselytize nor do I claim to interpret scripture. The Holy Spirit is my interpreter.
Sure had be fooled, amigo. As to the Holy Spirit being your interpreter, you make the Spirit a liar. Jesus promised the Spirit’s truth to the Apostles and their successors in the Catholic Church. Since the Church’s Spirit-led guidance leads to different doctrines from yours, someone isn’t getting the truth. Your doctrines were invented by 16th Century defectors from the Catholic Church. One guess who’s getting the truth.

Protestants do not necessrily ‘hate’ Catholics.
But fundamentalism generally does.

Fundamentalism and Hate.
Fundamentalism is built upon schism and as such is a breeding ground for one of the deepest of human sins: hate.
This was a hard fact that I did not see at first, looking at it in hindsight, now I can see it. It just wasn’t hate towards Catholics, it was a hate directed toward anyone who was not like them.
My first shock came in my first pastorate, when I encountered Christians who were sympathetic to the Ku Klux Klan. They reasoned (a few preachers I talked to were also were of this opinion), the KKK was a “Christian organization”. Later, I would discover many of the Fundamentalist heroes of the past were VERY sympathetic to the Klan. William Bell Reilly, Bob Jones Sr. (one of the buildings on his campus is named after a Klan grand dragon), Bob Schuler, Frank Norris and others.
This was very disturbing to me because I knew it was wrong to support hate.
To even suggest starting a church in a black neighborhood drew blank stares. “Why?”, would often be the answer, “They have there own churches!! A black fundamentalist needs to be in a black neighborhood.” When a black family tried to join the church, they were told “you’re going to take over this church!!” We never saw them again.
There was also class hatred. A preacher told me once not to pursue those who were in a lower income bracket because “Birds of a feather flock together”, and would not “fit” into the church.
They can be most hateful toward each other. Churches split and then the splits split into even smaller groups. The splits, most of the time, have to do with personality conflicts within the congregation.
If the preacher has a particularly charismatic personality, he can easily lead followers away from the offending church to start a new church. The bitterness toward the splitting churches can become almost violent in its passion. For fundamentalism was birthed from division, and it’s offspring continue to divide.
Worst of all is the irrational, vitriolic, bordering on insane HATE of the Catholic Church. This I did not see, or apparently mind much. I truly hated the Church that “sent my father to Hell”. I would stand in the pulpit and proudly proclaim the “Roman Catholic Church is the whore of Babylon!! The Pope is the anti-Christ!!” Never mind that neither of these views can be proved from scripture.
I am NOT saying ALL fundamentalists hate. I AM saying the culture that surrounds it tends to feed it.
Generally you find people, of any group, are haters because they cannot intellectually or spiritually overcome an emotional response. They are satisfied not questioning the status quo. Once one starts questioning, the claws and fangs come out and they act, quite frankly, unchristian. It’s easy to throw out meaningless and uneducated statements like: ‘the Pope is the antichrist!! The RCC is the great whore!!’. It arouses the emotions of the crowd and they scream AMEN!! without ever questioning the statement. Sadder still is finding Bible verses to ‘justify’ the hate. Claiming we are ‘commanded’ to hate.
I’m not using the word “hate” as a liberal would. Disagreement does not equal hate. Hate is spawned out of fear. You hate and fear what you know or think you know. The scary thing is, many cannot see it, deny it’s there, or use a different word for it (“we’re ‘fighting’ fundamentalists”). Hate, if left unchecked and not repented of, will do physical as well as mental and spiritual damage.
It’s easy to say ‘well God hates’. What God ‘hates’ are things that oppose His holiness. His ‘hate’ is not stained with sin. Human hate, is stained with sin because we are fallen creatures. To invoke God in our hatred is to find a ‘holy’ excuse for our sinful expression. God’s ‘hate’ works toward redemption, not destruction. Human hate only wishes to divide, ridicule and destroy in an attempt to prove Genesis 3 correct: we can be as God.Perhaps the underlying problems fundamentalists find themselves in have their roots in the hate that is produced.
If that is so, can it be called truly Christian?

Knowledge is a wonderful thing ,but how you obtain it and how you use it is important. Alot of people use the word to gain Money and fame They buy their way into what ever they want because money talks. Did you go to my post? Well educated people in the word of God was not what i was refering to it goes alot deeper then that. Some people out there are just buying these deplomas and setting up churches and are false prophets or Wolves in sheeps clothing, even those with Colledge degrees do the same and are all over the world but do not teach the FULL GOSPEL of JESUS CHRIST,they live on your money and on half truths and i wanted Jerry to know this so he wouldn’t believe in anything that came along bacause there are so many churches out there that it’s confusing. Many are called But few are Chosen! Love of Christ Nancy.

Major problems with what you have said. First of all James tells us to be careful of wanting to become a teacher for you will be judged more strickly. So lets look at some Scriptures; 1 Peter 1:8 says “Though you have not seen him you love Him, even though you do not see Him now you believe in Him and are filled with inexpressible
and glorious joy, for you are recieving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.” 2 Corinthians 4:18 says it all to me, “WE FIX OUR EYES ON WHAT IS NOT SEEN, but what is UNSEEN, for what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” Hebrews 11:1 says" Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." John 20:29 Jesus tell Thomas you seen me, but blessed are those who don’t see me and believe. I don’t know about you but I believe in Jesus Christ even though I don’t see him, and besides Jesus is the Word of God made flesh and I can look at a BIBLE any time I want. When I was a Kid a little kid 6 or 7 they told me Jesus was a waffer and it brought no comfort to me on the contrary it was weird, but when my Grandmother read the BIBLE to me it brought the greatest peace to me that has remained to this very day. The Bible says my God is a consuming fire. Most don’t really know the Lord! Jesus said on that day many will say to me LORD LORD, but I will say depart from me you workers of sin I never knew you. I plead with you to not have a form of religion and deny the Power of God. Know the true Jesus, the one who has died ONCE and never again, rose from the dead and now sits at the Right hand of the Father. I am not saying the Sacrements are not important, But remember all the Sacrement are found in Christ, have Christ and you will have all the Sacrements. God Bless you in your Journey of faith may you find truth and love along the way.

NO! not the saved ones. First of all James tells us to be careful of wanting to become a teacher for you will be judged more strickly. So lets look at some Scriptures; 1 Peter 1:8 says “Though you have not seen him you love Him, even though you do not see Him now you believe in Him and are filled with inexpressible

Hello Denwiles, there is no one here who claims to see Jesus unless it’s in the face and love of others, for greater is he who is in me then he that is in the world. I’d like to know why people are so busy coming to the forums to SAVE others that they think are such sinners and believe nothing but lies. I also want to kow why any one with such knowledge would waste his time here when he could be out there picketing the Abortion clinics where there is so much sin going on? I’d like to know why people dont go to the church of satan and try to save these people from destruction? and i want to know why people call themselves Christians and dont do the works of Jesus Christ for those who are LOST?If you look at what the Catholic church has done for Abortion and Opposition 8 ETC maybe you would see the other side of the coin?
“Give glory to the Lord your God, before he causes darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and while you look for light,He turns it into the shadow of death, and makes it gross darkness”(Jerimiah 13:16 The figuritive representations of Christ as the foundation rock of the great spiritual house of God( math,16:18; Eph 2:20; 1Peter 2:6 and also as the water yielding rock of sustenance in the wilderness( 1Cor 10:4) are two of the great symbols of the bible. But for those who reject Him, He becomes “a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence…And many among them stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken”(Isaiah 8:14-15. Not only will the stone cause the person to stumble, but Jesus said," And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: But on whomever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder"(Math 21:44) This figure is taken from the great fall of Nebuchandnezzer’s dream. “Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet… and brake him to pieces”(Daniel 2:34). all the kingdoms of the world were represented in the image, but the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth"(Danile 2:35). Unto you therefore which believe He is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient"( 1Peter 2:7-8. Thus, the stone of stumbling, which is Christ, is also the Word, and it is deadly dangerous to stumble over the HOLY SCRIPTURES> One should give glory to God before Darkness falls and he stumbles upon the dark mountain in the shadow of death. Go now into the world and win a soul for Christ, for we our Children of the living Rock, and upon this Rock He has built His Church and the gates of Hell shall not prevail! Love of Christ Nancy;)
