I think Jerry is in turmoil. He knows the Church does not teach one is saved by works. The pull of the Church is irresistible!
;)I couldn’t agree with you more it’s a pull and i was thinking of you Jerry all last night I was hoping you would come back you see I did the same thing but i couldn’t realy leave i kept missing these wonderful people i met and their strong beleif and their knowledge of God and History ETC and thier prayers for me were of great help i wouldn’t know who to thank because they all played an important part in my reconciling with the Church again and i feel clean and worth while,I can remember being point blank yelled at and confussed but that very person that yelled at me I love very dearly because i see know she was realy telling me she cared but boy is she tought.I e-mail her now and joke with her and love her as a sister. Lots of people pray for you that you dont even hear about it.God Bless and has Blessed these people, and i know we have not met by chance.Proverbs:28:13,14, Romans:1:11-17 got to go Love of Christ Nancy

That is the truth!

Are you going to post your poem?

through faith, yes not by works so that no one can boast.

the works come by one’s faith for without faith there is no works and of course you will say faith without works is dead and i will say, yes!

you could have works and it won’t lead to faith, you can have faith which will leads to works.

God bless you.
Faith is not enough alone. Please refer to the Book of James.

The works of which I speak are not from me. I cannot boast at all. In fact, I do anything but boast of my own salvation by what I do and say. I am an empty vessel, I am poor in spirit (without Christ). Any work I do is intertwined with the faith I have. Both the faith and works are possible ONLY by God’s grace. The works are interconnected with faith in a way we cannot understand. Because how can we truly understand the mind of God? But if you look at the parables, I think Christ makes it as clear as possible.

The grace of God gives the faithworks. I write it as one word because they cannot be separated any more than our DNA can be separated and we still remain who we are.

I realize we’ll have to agree to disagree on this. I know the Protestant belief - works is the evidence of faith. It sounds the same, but is not. In this case, we’re already separating the two. They are one - faithworks.

When I look on Christ and believe, I believe because He gives me the grace to believe. He gives it to us all, but not everyone chooses to heed it. Then comes the faithworks - you have to pick up your cross daily and follow Christ. That is an act, or work. It is obeying the will of our Father. Obeying the will of our Father is an act, or work.

I don’t believe people jump in and out of salvation as easily as committing a sin. It’s not so much the sin - we struggle with sin every day. It’s the turning of your back on Christ.

I could find the verses which talk about the person who turns his back on Christ and goes back out into the world is worse than the natural man is before coming to Christ, but right now, we’ve got a few minor crises 🙂 going on at home and I have to go. I’ll get back to you later. But you probably already know the verses anyway.

God bless. Thanks for responding.

:DHello I said i’d be back this poem is realy for everyone and it’s my Easter poem i wrote awhile back. Faith is the Key

Who will tarry with me for a while? Who will stand in the gap, as i go thruogh my trial?
They all were asleep, and His Spirit did groan,Our Lord Christ the Saviour, prayed to God all alone.
He wept in the garden, tears of blood filled His eyes,And soon came the soldiers, with tourches, swords, and cries-
Where is he,who says he’s a heavenly being? Where’s this Jesus who claims he’s the son of the King?"
They took him to pilot who found no sin in Him.Still the crowd had cried out,“Crucify! Crucify Him!”
So they scourged Him and beat Him and made Him a crown-Then they spit on His face,as the blood trickled down,And they tore off His clothes, and robed Him in red
As they pushed down on the crown of thorns on His head.
And they built Him a cross to carry up hill-As He stumbled and fell, they beat on Him still.
When finally His walk had come to an end,They drove nails through the hands and feet of a friend.
His whole body ached and His heart broke in two- It literally broke, for He loved me and you.
His royal blood dripped down from His face,As He hung there to die for the whole human race.
His eyes looked on sadly as the crowd had cheered on, And at the third hour, they knew He was gone.
The earth shook and trembled and darkness was deep, As the graves were all opened,of ones past in sleep.
The crowd all ran swiftly, and a voice did declare"Twas Christ the Messiah that hung and died there!"
So like the third hour the third day He arose, and appeared in the garden in sparkling white clothes.
He smiled as He stood there,in white clothes adorned. He looked like a new man who’d just been reborn.
To those who had seen Him, There was no disbelief. To those who betrayed Him their hearts were in grief.
To those who believe, yet their eyes did not see;Their faith is their blessing for FAITH IS THE KEY! BY NANCY DALRYMPLE 5-18-94 Have a Blessed Easter to you all!

;)Dear Jerry Faith without works is dead:" The Redemed Shall Walk There" Isaiah:35:9
Code:
                                                 ( The Place Called There)
This wonderful place is called Simply-There!- it is found at the (end of the Road-Called Selfishness) And is (the Beginning of the Highway of Holiness)
(The importance of it)
This is where God speaks to his children- this is where great Commissions are given-this is where Power is recieved-this is where men and women step out of themselves into that infinitely (Higher Plane.)-of (Selfless service to God and Humanity.) You will never reach your full Spiritual growth.) or do anything lasting for God untill you Reach that Richly Rewarding Place Called (There)!.)
Have you ever noticed that the (great figures of the Bible) Seemed to wander aimlessly through their lives-Until they Reached a Certain Place and then,Miraculously their entire natures changed! They set their Faces as a Flint toward a (certain goal) it was because they had reached a certain Place Called ( There!)
It made them People of Purpose- discipals of dedication, who could not be turned aside from their Holy Calling.
This place is not reached without (Paying a Price) no one can understand Gethsemane until he has Prayed in a Gethsemane of his own!
No one can understand Calvery until he has Carried a Cross of his own! It is impossible to understand the sufferings of Jesus-Until we have undergorn Suffrings of our own!
All these things we.can…understand (More fully when we have Reached that Special Place in our Lives Called There ! ( The Redeemed Shall Walk There) Isaiah:35:9 love of Christ Nancy

She does a letter contest every yr. and will build a home for the poor and needy it’s a love list If you bought one of her magazines it would tell you how to apply for anyone you think might be worthy I think it’s called LOVE ANGEL. She does do good works and has given to alot of charities here and abroad. Love of Christ " TO MUCH THAT IS GIVEN, MUCH IS REQUIRED" Love of Christ Nancy:thumbsup: The rest is between her and God.

Thank you, Nancy for putting into words, this holy week.

May all who read this faith-filled beautiful poem take time to linger at each line…

Easter blessings,

Christ died and lived again for all humanity – that means us.

her good works are filthy rags to the LORD as are mine
;)Hi Jerry your quote is in fact right, but i believe that it was intended to people that do good works only to be famous with man or for show that’s why i said the rest was between her and the Lord,He will be the final Judge, for us all.
Spiritual Cleanliness
“Woe unto you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.”
Three of 8" woes" in Mathew 23 deal with a particular aspect of spiritual cleanleness. This one seems to emphasize personal cleanleness. The next verse amplifies the thought:“Thou blind Pharisiee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also”(Mathew 23:26)
The emphasis is on the internal heart. The biblical principle is very clear. If our hearts are not right, our lives will not be rigteous. If what is “inside “is not clean, the “outside” will never be clean. Perhaps a list of the more obvious bible refrences will help refocus our commitment.
“Keep thy heart with all diligence:for out of it are the issues of life”(Proverbes 4:23)
“Out of the aboundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and a evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things”(Mathew 12:34-35)
“Circumcision is that of the heart,in the spirit, and not in the letter: whose praise is not of men, but of God”(Romans 2:29)
“For as much as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink,but with the Spirit of the living God: not in tables of stone, but in fleshly tables of the heart”(2 Corinthians 3:3)
May our” cup and platter” be a clean as Gods holines is able to make it and “let it be the hidden man of the heart,in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price” (1Peter 3:4) Love of Christ Nancy

That’s OT teaching, which has been fulfilled through Christ Jesus.

For Christians now have the life of Christ WITHIN them, creating a NEW man, and as such, our good works which God has prepared before us, are NOT filthy rags. Our filthy rags are the works we do on our own accord, without credence to the life of Christ within us.

God Bless

Our Good works are too filthy rags. It does not matter if we are “Saved” or not, “catholic” or not, your works get you nothing. UNLESS, you have bowed your heart to the one true king, Jesus Christ. Same with faith, no amount of Faith is gonna save you. I have faith in my chair right now, that it will hold me up, I have faith, but will it save heck no. FAITH and works separate from each other, get you nothing. Opera can do all the Good she wants, but until she bows her heart to the King, she is going to he.ll, and the bible is quite clear, that until Jesus, Every waking moment is evil. So unless, Opera has bowed her heart to Christ, her works are actually evil and not good.

See the whole matter boils down to your Heart, Who does it belong to… If it truly belonged to Christ, you would do as he commands… unfortunately most do not do as he commands and they claim to know Christ.

I think you may have misunderstood me. I probably wasn’t clear. I wasn’t suggesting Oprah’s good works weren’t filthy rags (assuming she denies Christ, which I’ve heard she does). Those works certainly are filthy. But I was referring to the fact that Jerry said that his works were filthy too…and I presumed (from my understanding of his faith), that he recognizes and submits to the presence of Christ within himself, and that the good works he does are done with his heart aligned to the King. These works are not filthy rags. These works are worthy of salvation, if done in perseverance to the end.

through faith, yes not by works so that no one can boast.
JL: If we could boast of works we could boast of faith also. We can’t boast as they are BOTH produced by the free gift of grace, our part is accepting or rejecting faith or good works, which we always have the free will to do at anytime in life.
the works come by one’s faith for without faith there is no works and of course you will say faith without works is dead and i will say, yes!
JL: Without works there is no living faith. Works come by faith, but faith is sustained, grows and REMAINS ALIVE by works. BOTH faith and works are necessary for salvation. BOTH are produced by grace so no man can boast. BOTH require a free will act on our part, in accepting and acting, for either to produce what grace intends.
you could have works and it won’t lead to faith, you can have faith which will leads to works. God bless you.
JL: You can also have faith that does not lead to good works. Look at the parable of the talents, they all HAD FAITH. [Mt25:14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, WHO CALLED HIS OWN SERVANTS, and DELIVERED UNTO THEM HIS GOODS.15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man ACCORDING TO HIS several ABILITY; and straightway took his journey.] Long story short, each was given talent or faith according to their abilities. Two of them put there talents (faith) to work and received more and were rewarded even more when their Master returned. One did not put his talent (faith) to work, even enough to earn interest. He buried his talent (faith) and earned nothing, so he was thrown into outer darkness where there is gnashing of teeth. Moral of the story, just because you have faith does not mean you will have good works. Faith does not automatically produce good works, as most Protestant teach.

Hello:eek: I just came off line and i couldn’t believe what i saw Jerry Marino I appoligize to you and all of you for feeling the way you do about Oprah Winfrey, she needs alot of prayer alot! You know what it says about the rich man and the camel well i seen that scripture come alive with my own eyes. Even so Lord Jesus Come! Love of Christ Nancy:(
