Hmmm, hereās the official SADA beliefs:According to the official Statement on Doctrine by the SDA, accepting Jesus as your personal Saviour is NOT sufficient to be saved.
It is also ānecessaryā to stop killing and hating, stop stealing and defrauding, stop committing adultery, stop worshipping other gods, stop taking Godās name in vain, etcā¦from what I have researched, not only is Christ nesscary for salvation but also observing the sabbath.
You were misinformed on this point. My bet would be from some anti-SDA web siteāthey do this kind of thing frequently. Ask your self this: if their cause is so right and true why do they have to misrepresent things? Is that something that the Holy Spirit would inspire some one to do?DId not Ellen G white say 1 out of every 20 sdas will be saved?.
Where in the bible does it say that you have to āaccept Jesus as your personal saviour to be saved?āSDA are NOT Christians simply because they ADD works to simple faith in Jesus Christ. According to the official Statement on Doctrine by the SDA, accepting Jesus as your personal Saviour is NOT sufficient to be saved.
Excellet points Amills.Where in the bible does it say that you have to āaccept Jesus as your personal saviour to be saved?ā
NAB James 2:24 "See how a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. "
I think that the theology of Adventists and Catholics in this instance is quite similar.
Catholics do consider Adventists to be Christian and do accept the baptism of the Adventists as a valid baptism.
If you are looking for exact wording you wonāt finds it. However:Where in the bible does it say that you have to āaccept Jesus as your personal saviour to be saved?ā
I think they meant āaccepting Himā is an unbiblical concept if it is issued without reference to a commitment to future works of righteousness. If you are looking for exact wording you wonāt finds it. However:
Acts 2:21
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Acts 4:12
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Acts 15:11
But we believe that through the grace of the LORD Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.
Acts 16:31
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
That would be correct as long as it understood that the works are through us from God and the works donāt save us.I think they meant āaccepting Himā is an unbiblical concept if it is issued without reference to a commitment to future works of righteousness.
We are not saved by works, nor are we saved by mere assenting faith, we are saved by grace. That would be correct as long as it understood that the works are through us from God and the works donāt save us.
We are not saved by works, nor are we saved by mere assenting faith, we are saved by grace.
Do SDA believe in annilationism?? I am curiousSome Adventists have told me they believe some other Christians, including perhaps a few Catholics, might also be saved. But this appears to be their personal opinion, rather than than an official teaching of the Adventist Church. They also seem to say this when they are on the defensive about their Church ābeing attacked.ā
I have not read any official Adventist teachings saying non-Adventist Christians will be saved.
Adventists also do not believe heaven and hell are eternal, which is contrary to the Gospel.
Sincerely,
Maria1212
Yes, they do. Some of the false doctrines they believe in are:Do SDA believe in annilationism?? I am curious
t realize, is they are using a faulty interpretation of Scripture to reach these inaccurate conclusions. Yet when Catholics use a different interpretation of Scripture to support our beliefs, they say we are wrong. Which begs the question, whose authority do we follow when trying to best understand Scripture. I rely on the authority of the Church, rather than the authority of an individuals personal opinion.Originally Posted by djconklin

I like the bit about ānor are we saved by mere assenting faith, we are saved by graceā although if you are going to use the word grace then it should be āWe are saved by faith in Godās grace through the redeeming blood of His Son, Jesus Christ.ā

Note that none of the alleged false doctrines have been proven to be false. Some of them arenāt even doctrines! For what SDAā really believe vs. someoneās say-so see: adventist.org/beliefs/fundamental/index.htmlYes, they do. Some of the false doctrines they believe in are:
(a) the Catholic Church is the Whore of Babylon; (b) the pope is the Antichrist; (c) in the last days, Sunday worship will be āthe mark of the beastā; (d) there is a future millennium in which the devil will roam the earth while Christians are with Christ in heaven; (e) the soul sleeps between death and resurrection; and (f) on the last day, after a limited period of punishment in hell, the wicked will be annihilated and cease to exist rather than be eternally damned.
Every single one of our beliefs is based on Scripture as you will see when you click on the above link.By what authority they teach these things is a mystery. They certainly are not Biblical.
Some of what you listed arenāt doctrines and none of them have been proven to be false.Yet, most Adventists argue that Scripture supports the above false doctrines.
Well, that hasnāt been proven either. We have evangelists who when witnessing to Catholics use the Douay version of the Bible to show what we believe and they are converted. Were they wrong? What they don`t realize, is they are using a faulty interpretation of Scripture to reach these inaccurate conclusions.
I rely on Scripture vs. the false teachings of men.I rely on the authority of the Church, rather than the authority of an individual`s personal opinion.
This is the Catholic doctrine!Originally Posted by SDA2RC

Yes we believe that at the end the wicked will be eternally destroyed by fire falling down out of heaven to completely consume the wicked. Imagine burning a pirece of paper so hot that the only thing left is smoke and light and heat from the fireāin the Semitic mind that is āeternal.ā It means complete vs. a period of time.to SDAs, What would be the best book Ellen White wrote on this?? or pehaps the best book that she ever wrote
