Do those who leave the Church go to Hell?

The Catechism teaches that one who knows the Catholic Church is the one true Church of Christ and refuses to remain inside cannot be saved. But depending on how good their catechesis was, do those who leave really realize what they are doing:confused: We live in a very relativistic age. Confusion abounds:(

Greetings Followingtheway,

Only God knows a person’s heart at the time of death. And it is His place to Judge. It is our place to continue to pray for those who have left the Church that they may have the graces to return to the Church. It is also our place to pray for those who have died and left the Church as well. No prayer is wasted.

God Bless.

If that is their freely chosen desire, then I suppose so. It would be dependent on the intent of each individual soul. Not really answerable by man.

Blessings,

Steven

It depends on their heart. If they are leaving the Church because they want to live in sin, or for some selfish reason, then that is rejection of God. If they leave because they are truly misguided, and look elsewhere in an honest search of God (and not just because they want a religion that suits them), then it’s a different story because they are doing it with a sincere conscience; however anyone who leaves the Church is certainly in a dangerous place.

Well do they?
There is only one name under heaven by which we may be saved. He has only One Body, and all who are in Him are members of that One Body, the Church. This is why the Apostles taught that there is no salvation outside the Church. Those who are under His headship will inherit eternal life.

Can we get an AMEN?

The Apostolic Churchs on earth do not define who is in hell. No-where do you witness this. While scripture is more grafic with Judas, we do not even exclaim he is in hell.

As for others? “We know where the churcvh is, we do not know where it is not.”

Its not by chance we follow and worship in the East/West Apostolic Churchs. There’s a very real reason our lifes, witness, education, pratical knowledge, miracles, thus TRUTH, have lead us to these churchs through Gods Grace. We do not take it for granted and pray that no-one else does.

Your gambling for the highest stakes in the world…Your Soul. You dealing with a very patient God and we live by His mercy by the moment. At some point on Earth you “will” come to understand this, lifes a long lesson in humility. Purification of the Soul, sanctifying Grace

However when you number is up, than you number is up. Seek God with all your being before that moment. Write your final chapter in true confession, in true confession as instructed by the Apostolic Church’s on earth and live by your covenant to God.

“My God, I believe, I adore, I hope, and I love You. I beg pardon of You for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope, and do not love You.”

"Most Holy Trinity-Father, Son, and Holy Spirt-I adore thee profoundly. I offer thee the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles in the world, in reparation for all the outrages, sacrileges and indifferences whereby he is offended. And through the infinite merits of His Most Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg of Thee the conversion of poor sinners.

Take the Body and the Blood of Jesus Christ horribly outraged by thankless men. Recover their sins and comfort your God."

Peace

only if they die in a state of unrepented obstinate mortal sin and refuse to accept God’s mercy at their last judgement

is leaving the Church a mortal sin for a Catholic? yes, if he has full knowledge and full free will intention

Most likely, but it’s possible not to, as explained above by others. In reality, only God knows.

Why ask people? No one knows but God and no one should say who is and isn’t going.

Amen !

As others have already said, it depends on why they left. If left to escape God’s will the yes. If they left thinking to find God’s truth elsewhere, maybe not.

Actually I believe it says we know where the Church is (the Catholic Church) but we do not know where it is not. So we can’t say for sure that, say Protestants, are not saved. Ultimately, why do we concern on who is saved or not? Only God judges. Let us be the best Christians we can be.

I answer with Jesus’ words, “Strive to enter.” Simple, and to the point.

(Note to all the wags: of course the “strive to enter” refers to heaven and not hell. :p)
