That is totally false!! I have heard Catholics here sya that indulgences in the manner in which they were being used in Luther’s day were not church doctrine. Which one is it??
In the manner that some unscrupulous people used them… That sounds plain enough to me …

sin prone men?? I thought it was written by the Catholic church?? hmm.
Dear Nella,

I suggest that you dig further about the history of the bible. You will find so many objective sources. Definitely God did not send the bible directly from heaven in the form of books we have today. The bible as you will find came from hundreds of writers beginning from the book of Genesis until the Revelation, under the time frame of thousands of years. And yet, all of those writings pin-pointed to a single man and a single salvation. Definitely the bible is the work of God, using people as the media. Sin prone men??. Yep, people are sin prone. Under the grace of God, however, such sin prone men become holy. Human as unworthy as dust, become so valuable that God sent his own word to become human just like us, suffer, die, and be buried. And just like the word of God, human become worthy again.

Ummmm…I hate to tell you but none of that even implies she remained sinless. There are many scriptures pointing to the fact that everyone has sinned and that ONLY Christ was sinless.

Sorry…

What I seem to be getting is that the Bible is not really reliable and that is where the Magisterium comes in because it can go against scripture to teach other things (not merely expound on them). In fact. the Magisterium is MORE important than what the whole of the Bible says on a given topic. I imagine there are no Systematic Theology classes in Roman Catholic Seminaries?

One way to find out is to read the Catechism of the catholic Church. That takes all the guess work out of what us Catholics beleive. Also i don’t beleive we can all interpret Scripture ( the Fundamental Option) as what Luther taught. Otherwise why the debate , we’d all be right . Imagine every one walking around Bible in hand, disputing each other. It’s not that the Bible is not reliable, it’s the way it’s being interpreted that’s not reliable, hence the umpire, " the Teaching Magisterium of the Church"

I’m happy with “Blessed are thou among women…” Mary was taken back by it…
Maybe you could quote Scripture showing “Only Christ” was sinless.

As far as Roman Catholic seminaries are concerned, I think that is an unfair dig. Seminaries are 8 years, and more for the likes of Jesuits. Do Protestant seminaries, regardless of sect go on for that long.

Of course we have more to study.

Good morning my friends!!! How are you today!!

I do admire him for standing up against the horrible abuses that went on in the Church. I’m glad that he did bring it up and caused the Church to finally do something about it.

I’m also glad that it happened, for now the Catholic Church had to Christianize the Christians. When they went from town to town and realized that many followers didn’t understand what the trinity was and other key doctrines, they had to re teach.

So yes Luther did some harm, but he also caused the Church to get up and do something.

His method of posting his 95 thesis was the norm of the day. That was the internet forum of the day! That needs no admiring.!!

His arrogance in disobeying the church and his dirty mouth and abnormal sexual mores(conduct) are not to be admired either!

His daring to change the bible and eliminate books is not to be admired either!

His insulting the pope is not to be admired either!!

I can write 95 of these!!

Saying that Luther did some good is like saying if Hitler didn’t exist, then Pius XII didn’t have to save Jews.

The original act of Luther and Hilter were bad in themselves (evil), and no way is any subsequent act going to justify it.

You do realize I agree with you. I think Luther (Luther means beast) was a beast. I think you attached yourself to the wrong posting
