I was just curious as to how many people are regular watchers of EWTN and if you enjoy their programming?

I used to like EWTN more when Mother Angelica was involved but I find myself watching it less and less. I don’t care for some of the programming and it seems as if there is more and more clergy and religious that are presenting or hosting the programs.

I also miss seeing the mass being held at the Shrine. I don’t know, I just thought EWTN was better under Mother’s direction.

What do you think?

Well Scarlet, I guess to each his/her own…
I have EWTN on from early morning till I retire at night…
I think the programming is great!
They do show repeats of Mother a few times a week
Father Mitch is absolutely wonderful…
The Mass…
The Rosary…
The Divine Mercy…
Father Groschel’s new program…
World Over Live…
Journey Home
And I could go on and on…what’s not to like???

I think some things that I don’t like is the International Rosary and the Holy Land Rosary which they show constantly. The people say it so fast that it seems more like an exercise for an auctioneer than a person really meditating on the mysteries. Then the special programming is shown at the weirdest times. Like 4:00 a.m. I do like the Divine Mercy and the rosary with mother’s nuns. But I would like to see more programs with laity rather than clergy.

I love when Fr. Corapi is on. I can listen to him all day. I’ve watched the Mass once and it was good. Besides that, I don’t watch much. I always say I’ll do the Rosary with all the nuns (at 9:30 I believe), but I always forget. :o

I love EWTN. I didn’t get cable tv until that started carring EWTN. Fr. Corapi and Fr Groeschel are my favorites. I could listen to them all day. I’ve learned so much about the faith and it’s so good to have some place to turn that you can trust for authentic Catholic teaching. I don’t go to Bible studies at our church anymore because I’ve heard some really wierd stuff and was told when asked if it was in the Catechism of the Catholic Church that it wasn’t written for lay persons and that we weren’t to read it. I listen to Catholic Answers and EWTN. That’s my only source of instruction. Deacon Bill is the one in charge now and he worked very closely with Mother Angelica and I believe that he is very careful of the teaching that comes to EWTN. I don’t think the integrity of the programs has changed since he took charge. I believe Mother Angelica is still in the loop. Yes I watch and love EWTN.

Yes, I enjoy Fr. Corapi. He has a very interesting speaking style and isn’t boring in the least.

Scarlet,
I prefer the Rosary w/ Mother and her nuns shown @ 11:30 am in my area. I have heard Fr. Mitch say he was making changes/new one to the Holyland Rosary and the International Rosary fits everyone…don’t forget EWTN is aired all over the world. I’m really glad to be taught by the religious !
There is Scott Hahn, Patrick Madrid, Johnette Benovich(sp), Jeff Cavins, Marcus Grodie and so many more lay people on…What more do you want???

Oh, I’m not questioning the teaching of the programs at EWTN. I just think that there is very little new programming and a lot of repeats. Plus I would like to see some of our talented laity doing an even number of programs instead of so many clergy and religious people.

I’m watching EWTN right now! I love EWTN and have been watching since 1992. If it wasn’t for EWTN and especially Mother Angelica I may not have converted to the Catholic Church April of 1995(almost 10 years!). I love to watch the Mass, I try to watch it daily. Some of my other favs are the repeats of Mother Angelica Live, anything with Father Groeschel, Web of Faith, Household of Faith,The World Over, The Journey Home, EWTN Live with Father Mitch. Yes, it’s not quite the same without seeing Mother Angelica it’s true but I will always watch and feel blessed that we have EWTN and Catholic Radio too.

I dumped Cable for Sattelite so I could get 24 hurs of EWTN. One complaint. I truned on EWTN last night to watch Fr. Corapi and that G.K. Chesterton show was on instead…what a disappointment.

Well, to me the rosary being said faster than the speed of light is not the correct way to say the rosary. How can anybody meditate on the mysteries when it is being said so fast? And yes, there are a “few” laity involved. Although I think it should be more representative of the involvement of the laity as we experience it in our parishes.

I think there’s a lot of talented and creative laity in the Catholic church and they should be utilitzed.

Well…I know it takes me at least 20 minutes to say a rosary and I pray at least 4 rosaries a day…I suppose I could meditate longer but the visuals that are provided w/ these recitations of the rosary on EWTN, I don’t think I need a lot more. They are always bringing in new people …Alice Von Hildebrand is another I really enjoy…Ros Moss and Christine Franklin… I think that these people represent what I expect to find on the finest Catholic Programming ever available!!!👍

Corapi was on last night:confused:…at least in my area (MA) and then Fr. Groeschel Live.

I love The Journey Home, Scott Hahn and the news broadcast. I also enjoy Fr. Rutler. he used to seem very staid and formal, but when he became pastor of my parish I came to see him in a different light. He’s still staid and formal, but I see him as approachable, accessible and possessed of a dry wit. If I ever need a special word of prayer, or something blessed, I feel very comfortable asking him.

I also enjoy Fr. Rutler, but I haven’t been able to catch him on EWTN. I thought he was no longer on! Yes he does seem very formal but I think that most likely comes from his Anglican background. I think he is great! What a blessing to have him at your Parish!

I LOVE EWTN although I miss a lot of the good programs since they are on during the day when I’m at work (yeah I could someday figure out how to program the VCR!). I try not to miss The Journey Home, The World Over or anything on the pro life movement. I also enjoy the pilgrimages. This weekend Fr Mitch went to Jordan and showed the reality behind certain Bible verses (reeds blowing in the wind) as well as going through several ancient churches that has been discovered and have beautiful mosaics. It’s a wonderful station.

I love EWTN

I love the Divine Mercy Chaplet. (both versions)

I could listen to Fr. Corapi for hours on end.

I’ll give almost any show I see at least a listen, and it’s rare when I see something that I’m not interested in.

LOTR-- rocks!😃

but I also hate to miss Threshold of Hope. I think Fr. Pacwa does a stupendous job.

I never thought I would watch a show about playing the pipe organ; but that show is awesome, too! (The Joy of Music).

I LOVE EWTN!!! Especially Fr. Corapi, Journey Home, Bookmark, Super Saints, Fr. Benedict Groeschel, Life is Worth Living, the Rosary, The Mass, Scott Hahn and NO COMMERCIALS! Also, saw G.K.Chesterton for the first time and want to start reading his books…after I get done with several by Fr. B.Groeschel, Corrie tenBoom and a few others.

Worry is the darkroom in which negatives can develop.
