Do you find eating mutilated animals to be disgusting?

It’s too much work being a vegetarian. I got lazy and started eating meats again. But I still think it’s one of the disgusting things about being human. I hope we don’t have to eat with our glorified bodies! (Jesus actually ate in His glorified body and that worries me).
I don’t think you’re using the word “disgusting” correctly, here. If you truly found meat to be “disgusting”, laziness wouldn’t be a factor at all. Maybe you’re looking for “unfortunate” or “immoral”.

I’m talking about chicken, beef, and pork. I first had an extreme experience while preparing chicken for the first time. I found it to be very gross washing the pieces of mutilated chicken. It was a very strong experience that made me feel gross being human and I became a vegetarian. Today I eat all kinds of meats, but I still remember my first experience and I still feel gross being human and having to eat mutilated animals.
Mutilated: violently disfigured without regard to technique or method
Butchered: skillfully dismembered and/or cut according to musculature and culinary preferences

Not a fan of “mutilated”, though I suppose it might still taste ok depending on how it’s prepared.

Much prefer butchered - and finding a good butcher is often difficult.
Do you find eating chicken embryos disgusting too?
Eating ANY embryo is disgusting (though I know some cultures do this) - but I do love eggs!! 👍

I’m still confused. If it disgusts you to eat meat, you may stop at any time. There is no reason to do it.

I have a choice and I choose to eat meat even though I think it’s disgusting.
Okay.

To each his own.

I rarely have a steak or eat much beef at all. But, I do love a good steak or prime rib on the occasions that I do eat beef. Thinking about our old cow, Blossom, and her gentle, big, brown eyes with long, long lashes will not make me any less likely to enjoy beef the next time I eat it. It disgusts you to eat meat, but I enjoy it. I guess that means different strokes for different folks. 🤷

I’m trying to understand the reason for the thread. Are you trying to determine if others eat meat, but like you, find their own practice disgusting?

Vegetarianism is a requirement to be an Essene, which is a large part of its appeal to me. I have been a vegetarian for over 30 years, and a vegan for about a year.

I am a vegetarian, have been for 20 years. So, speaking for myself, I do find eating meat disgusting

I don’t begrudge others though. To each their own.

When one eats one’s veggies, one needs to realize that one is eating a great number of bugs as well. They’re not so much “mutilated” as they are “boiled to death” or “killed by toxins”. But sometimes they’re alive when one eats them. It’s not too appetizing to look up the government “acceptable levels” of bugs, worms, bug parts, etc. in the food we eat.

I have been around cattle all my life. I realize this identifies me as barbaric, but sometimes when working with cattle on a hot day, I can smell that distinctive smell of beef. When they get heated in the hot sun, they smell just like a rare steak. Makes me hungry. I will say to my credit that I have not bitten a chunk out of one of them on the hoof, though.🙂

Oh dear. This made me laugh far more then it should have.

Amongst other critters. I’ve heard of bears eating people too. 🙂
I’m not so sure. Being in Canada, I haven’t heard of bears hunting humans for food. They will attack humans in self defense, but I haven’t heard them attacking humans for food.

I still think “disgusting” isn’t the word you’re looking for. 🤷 Eating live spiders or boogers would be disgusting.
One person’s “acceptable” is another person’s “digusting.” I personally do feel eating animals to be digusting; that’s why I don’t do it. For a person who does eat meat, it doesn’t seem disgusting at all. (Otherwise, they wouldn’t do it…)

Why ask this just before Thanksgiving? Is it because Peta has decried the senseless slaughter of Turkeys?

Yes, this all a part of a conspiracy.
I didn’t say it was a conspiracy. I said it seems to just try to stir things up, very different. I really don’t see the point of it. You are saying you eat meat and it is disgusting to eat meat. The thing is people are very connected with their food. We associate it with family, tradition, culture, nourishment, ect. Food is very personal. To describe meat as mutilated and disgusting is bound to stir up emotions in many. So it seems to me that you were using graphic/dramatic wording to try to stir things up.

Plus conspiracy involves plotting between two or more people. You can’t conspire by yourself. So what I explained is not conspiracy, since I am well aware you are one person.

If I am wrong and this thread wasn’t started to stir things up, why was it started?
