Do you find eating mutilated animals to be disgusting?

Yes, the Holy Spirit! It eventually led me back to the Catholic Church. I treasure that experience. I doubt it came from Satan, but I strongly feel that the experience was beyond my doing.
Not every experience is something coming directly from the Holy Spirit or Satan. That isn’t how things work.

See, saying that this experience surrounding meat (which is fine to eat according to the Catholic Church) was from the Holy Spirit, doesn’t really add up. Just because some people other than you find eating meat disgusting, doesn’t mean it is from the Holy Spirit.
That’s true! But I still wanted to see how many other people had a similar experience.

That is fine, but be careful on what you say is from the Holy Spirit. That isn’t something you should say lightly.

I believe there is nothing within us but inner ‘voices.’ It is these voices that produce the ‘self’ in most people. Our own innate wit is really extremely limited. We can read and write and calculate simple formulas. But the voices are hard to ignore. Again, it’s propound, but we are nothing more than voices with a slight touch of wit.

Maybe I should have posted this in the philosophy forum?

Uh, yeah. Somewhere, anyway, and perhaps not on CAF.

Can’t say for sure that some larger animals won’t attack humans for food. Nor do I have any bright ideas to test that theory. Ever visited Churchill, Manitoba? Lets just say you won’t see me taking a leisurely stroll in the evening enjoying the fresh air. Methinks my prime-rib carcass would be too tempting.

Forget the Coca-Cola polar bear idea. :hmmm: I wonder if they prefer Canadian Beer. 😃
There’s bears in my area. Even though Vancouver is a metropolitan city, we’re not too far from the wilderness. There’s something about tall mountains and our lack of ability to turn them into residential lots 😃 but we do get bears here especially in my side of the metro. I’ve never heard of any attempts to eat humans. But they do attack in self defense so stay clear of them. The worst part is if you see cubs.

I am not sure what you mean by “voices”, but I am pretty sure the Church doesn’t teach that every experience is from the Holy Spirit or Satan. We are still individuals with free will and our thoughts are greatly shaped from our inner selves, logic, genes, and our environment. I don’t say very many things are from the Holy Spirit because I don’t want to ever make the mistake of assigning my inner thoughts, or wants to God that could prove to be false or contradictory to Church teaching. That is dangerous ground.

I think that you shouldn’t have used the words you did, that was the problem, not the forum you put it in.

Look up above you for photos of UN-mutilated pigs. But it always becomes mutilated as we cut into it and eat it!
I don’t think you know the definition of mutilation even though someone in this thread gave the definition. You realize now that ascribing the words mutilation and disgusting to preparing and eating meat, is offending people and you said you didn’t mean to offend people, but you still continue to use those words. I am pretty sure now you are trying to offend.

Listen carefully because the experience was profound! I believe we are but ‘meatbots’ (biological robots). All I hear within me are ‘voices.’ I believe I have little ‘self,’ mostly ‘voices.’

Is English your second language? Honestly you sound a little crazy right now. You have free will and if you are just a tiny bit of you and mostly “voices” then it really takes away from the unique being God created. Also it makes you a whole lot less culpable for your actions if you are mostly other beings “voices”. Honestly, this just sounds fishy and doesn’t really go along with Church teaching.

Be careful not to judge too much; it is a sin.

I made observations. You knew it was offensive to use those terms, but you still use them. If you weren’t trying to offend and you knew they were offensive and you still used them, then what was the reason? Doesn’t make any sense. Stop using offensive terms if you know they are offensive (and it isn’t your goal to offend). Contradicting you and pointing out your actions and how they don’t line up with what you are saying is not a sin.

We sharply disagree. Nothing more needs to be said.

You can tap dance around the question all you want. I pointed out what you did and that has nothing to do with the fact we disagree. I am done with this so go ahead and have the last word.

I’m not so sure. Being in Canada, I haven’t heard of bears hunting humans for food. They will attack humans in self defense, but I haven’t heard them attacking humans for food.
I’m in Canada also. 🙂

They don’t attack for food but I have heard of them chowing down once a human was dead. 🤷 One thing animals don’t do? They don’t waste.

I can see how a person could have a profound experience washing a chicken (or washing a cat for that matter, though that would be a different kind of “profound”).

Let me theorize:

a person has never really looked intently at chicken meat before and certainly not as a whole chicken. they are washing the chicken and start to see for the first time how the parts are joined, the symmetry of the rib cage, how the skin attaches, how the limbs bend and realize that this was a living animal, and that it has a “design” it’s not some haphazard lump of meat. An animal used these parts in its own life. The chicken legs we eat helped the chicken walk. And when you consider it a chicken really is a miraculous thing - and that makes us even more so.

It still doesn’t put me off chicken though.
