When at home does anyone here include your pets in your prayer time and in your devotional time?

For example, does anyone here say the morning devotion with a cat in the lap?

Do you say blessings for them too, and if so, which blessings are there for pets?

My cat is nearby on my bed when I am lying in bed saying prayers when I first awaken! 🙂

I rarely think to pray for my cat honestly, except when other people mention it like you did!

Is that your cat, mary15? Beautiful!!

My dog is often with me and yes, I pray to St. Francis for her comfort as she gets older.

My little dog is usually next to my chair, or alongside my bed on the floor for night prayers, and sometimes I get distracted during my prayers because he’ll jump up for attention, and I reach over and pat him … so it’s unintentionally most of the time.

I do thank God for both my cat and my dog though.

Not in my case. I am thankful that the Lord connected me with a very fluffy white feral cat, but I consider that pets are not made in the image and likeness of God.

Is there a specific prayer to St Francis to bless your pet? I have heard of pet blessings at parish, but missed that.

Thank you for blessing your pet, as dont you feel that your dog is a gift, a creature of God to you?

Beautiful word picture @CRV, I can picture you two doing this

The furry members of our family are a huge part of our lives. They bring us much joy and comfort. Prayers are part of our love for them, just as purring and tail waging in part of their love for us.

My Oreo will be 3 in April. She is so stubborn and funny. You can’t help but laugh at her antics.

We have San Antón here in Spain, people take their pets to be blessed that day at specific parishes.

My dog is pretty much a Velcro dog. He will always be next to me or on my lap so he’ll be there during most of my prayer time…no escaping it.
I have prayed for him when he’s had some veterinary concerns. St. Francis has gotten quite overworked over the years.

I’m sure there is and most churches bless pets on his saint day. I just include my little dachshund, Pebbles, in my personal intentions. Sometimes I just Google to find out who is patron saint of what, and for prayers and novenas, so you might try that.

I’m glad you brought up this topic. I should offer prayers of thanksgiving for my cats.

God bless you.

P.S. St. Gertrude of Nivelles is the patron saint of cats.

Yes, I invoke St. Francis’ name a fair amount. He and I are on a first-name basis . . . partly because Mr. of Assisi sounds somewhat awkward. 😉 St. Gertrude hears from me often, as well.

Pebbles is the cutest name ever! Is you Dachshund very tiny, or just a little baby right now?

Thanks for the ideas of looking things up.

How did you learn about St Gertrude? Did you just Google one day?

Bless you as well!

How many cats do you have and do they surround you when doing prayers at home?

@Camehome4john6 Velcro Dog to the rescue!!
