Do you kill bugs?

Have to kill them all. I live in an apartment and management insists on weekly extermination. Many senior living places check before you move in; they want to make sure that you are anti-bug.

Didn’t God say we had dominion over animals and the fishies of the sea? So yes, I send them to God. They don’t belong in my house. They carry bacteria and germs and diseases. I didn’t invite them in but I will invite them out. Same with mice. There is no joy in killing God’s little creatures but I do not wish to share the same abode with them.

Glad to hear it. I do this too - except for moths which I kill gladly because they eat my sweaters. My cats love to get the moths and eat them, all bugs really. I don’t stop them. I have an especially strong weakness for spiders who I will carry out to the yard rather than kill. I learned somewhere that killing spiders was considered bad luck. The reason being that spiders eat a wide variety of other bugs. Kind of the cat rodent control argument. I believe it. I have a spider who has spun a web on my patio chair. I actually step over the web to get into the chair rather than break it - well, I broke it once and he/she respun it and now I just can’t bring myself to break it again. We coexist peacefully.

Yup, call me a bug killer. 😂
My conscience absolutely has no qualms with it.

I have an electrified tennis racket for flies. I love the smell of ozone in the morning.

If it’s a pest (anything that is bad for the house or a health hazard such as houseflies or mosquitoes) I will smite it.

Spiders I let outside unless they’re tiny and then I smite them, which might come down to laziness and the fact that I don’t want it growing up into something that will eat me in my sleep. I would rather go to sleep with an angry pregnant hippopotamus in my room than a large wolf spider. I distinctly remember one time as a teenager there was a huge spider crawling casually across my carpet. I found nothing close to me convenient for smiting, so I went to the bathroom to grab a pair of slippers. When I came back it was GONE. I don’t mind spiders as much as an adult, but I ended up sleeping on the couch that night in case it decided to crawl into my mouth for a drink.

One time I woke up and my tongue was brown and I had an odd taste in my mouth. All I can say is that I’m glad I was unconscious when I smote it.

If I’m in Australia and the insect has health bars and is in the early stages of developing stone weapons, wheelbarrows, and advanced language skills, I might end up smiting it instead of arm wrestling it to get it to go outside.

Some insects, such as crickets, I almost think of as pets for whatever reason. I would never smite a cricket.

(In before an armchair etymologist reminds everybody that spiders aren’t insects)

Do I kill bugs @LoganBryce ?

Most definitely - - - - - - - - -

Any bug I find in my house I cannot. I carefully catch them and return them to the outdoors. As inconvenient as this my concience will not allow anything else. Does anyone share this issue?
I kill every bug that comes near me or I see.

No problem with my conscience and it is not a sin by the way!!

I kill bugs every time I drive. The front of the car is always covered with them.

I would swat a fly or a wasp. Other stuff like moths, butterflys, and spiders get placed outside.

Well I dont worry about the ones I may kill by accident such as by walking or some such, I do think that just the way life is, however, if people want to worry about this then so be it. I don’t particularly want to set out to kill bugs but I am terrified of spiders (and cockroaches) and live alone so it may be that I cannot get a spider out without killing it. I do have an electronic thingy that emits a sound they dont like which for the most part keeps them (and other insects) out of my room and I have a long ‘spider grabber’ which I can use to remove them from my room (without hurting them) should they brave the noise (humans cant hear it). So I feel I do what I can to make it less likely to randomly have to kill spiders or other bugs. But if I am out and a spider drops on me I am probably going to jump up and swat it in fear. It’s unlikely I will feel bad about that. I was born and grew up in Africa so one might say it’s a survival thing. If I can I’d run away from it. I’ve been known to jump onto a table to hide from a spider or a cockroach or snake, lol…

Thou shalt not kill.

Was the death and suffering of the bug necessary is an important question.

-was the bug poisonous? / dangerous to health/ did it have a sting/ bite,
-was the only way to get the bug outdoors, to kill it first?
(Legitmate reasons to kill a bug).

Or
-if it was just to take pleasure out of unnecessary animal suffering, then that is against the Catechism which states that unnecessary suffering / animal death, is not christian.

So the question in each situation is:
-is this necessary?

We get scorpions and huge hornets in the house in Italy. I have to kill them, I have a tiny dog who would be greatly at risk if she was stung.

Only if they have invaded / infested the house, if they are a threat to my children (bees or wasps), they scare my wife, or have the potential to spread disease and misery (mosquitoes).

God makes no mistakes. If he would have wanted it to say humans, he would have commanded Moses to insert that word. IMO

If a bug comes in my house and is going to interfere with my quality of life I kill them: cockroaches, mosquitoes, ant armies

I escort beetles, crickets, dragonflies, moths, bees, etc outside
