I can’t listen to these shows right now… No Catholic radio stations around…

🙂
You don’t need Catholic radio when you have Catholic Answers. Simply go to the Catholic Answers website front page that you have to go to when you sign in to these forums.

On that front page to the right there are eight live buttons you can choose. The first one says “view calendar” Press it.

Either start with the July 4 second show or both of the July 14 shows.

Click on the show you want.

You will get the biography of the guest. Scroll to the bottom of the biography and you can then choose how you want to listen to the show.

good point…

So now we know who to go after in our evangelizing!! 🙂
I think we have great evangelizers now. If she would want to humble herself and ride on our ship she would be more than welcome, but I think our Catholic Church is full of strong evangelizers.

Thanks… 🙂 i never knew that… I’m not big on computers… :whacky: :banghead:

i have not doubt that this is true… although i have never heard of it before… but i do know that I myself have felt “suicidal” after being involved with… well, just being involved with “ordinary” people who don’t love Jesus… (this was a couple years ago… i now stay completely away from such pepole…)…

my point is that i know how frail we humans can be… and how much something can influence us even when we think we are so “strong” in Jesus… The world, the flesh and the devil are formidable enemies… We cannot overcome them without calling out to Jesus… Just uttering his name when confused… overhwelmed… etc… can do wonders… 🙂
You have a point about staying away from people who don’t have Jesus in their heart, but we have to be an example for Jesus and His Church. I mean, if you work out in the world you will encounter tons of folks who don’t believe a bit in Jesus and God. Yes it is difficult at times, but Jesus gave us prayer and repentence when we are weak and stumble. I remember one person on my crew that told me that he didn’t believe in God and or the Bible. I simply said to him," you know, if I am wrong and you are right then I guess it is no big deal in the end, but if you are wrong and I am right than I would not want to be in your shoes". We as Catholics have to be heard, not so much with a big mouth but with our humble actions.👍

Exactly Joeblow it is your claim, But speaking for myself i dont go by your claim I go by the bible and the bible says dont do it.
Then we’re obviously reading different Bibles because the KJV very clearly teaches sola scriptura.

Hey, Joe’s back! Everyone, Joe’s back!

Good to see you, Joe - I notice that you didn’t bring answers . . .
Then we’re obviously reading different Bibles because the KJV very clearly teaches sola scriptura.
Chapter and verse, please. Did you look at the document I posted which refuted most of the Protestant’s sola scriptura claims?

Also, can you please also tell me how you are getting around the circular argument problem, please? Namely, how can the Bible (even if it DID teach sola scriptura) actually be assumed to be reliable about that?

Because sola scriptura means you can’t go anywhere else but the Bible for Christian information . . . so how do you know that the Bible is even accurate? Basically, you are suggesting pure faith in the Bible.

As an example, this post contains everything that needs to be known about the Christian faith! Sola MyPosta!

See the logical problem, there? Can you please explain i) chapter and verse for sola scriptura (avoiding the issues I challenged in my document earlier) and also explain the issues with circular arguments, please?

And that’s precisely why I’m so hesitant to get into this. You keep on telling me that sola scriptura is wrong and then you say stupid things like this that show that you don’t even know what sola scriptura is.

Yeah, a Christian putting his faith in God’s word. Go figure.

Same one I gave you last time.

Don’t call me stupid, Joe. Please.

Anyway, “sola scriptura” means “Scripture alone”. The normal meaning (what the man who coined the phrase meant by it) was that the Bible is the sole rule of faith for Christians.

But if you mean something else, please - define your terms. And then we’ll see - who knows, we might agree.
Yeah, a Christian putting his faith in God’s word. Go figure.
But it’s a circular argument - how do you KNOW it’s God’s word?
Same one I gave you last time.
I must have missed that - can you give it again, please?

Also, I notice that even if you were to type the longest title of books of the Bible you have in your copy (which is, I think, Lamentations) and then a space, and two numbers of 2 digits each, and a colon (even assuming you need a hypen and another 4 digits and a colon for a span of verses) you’d only need to have 24 characters by my estimation. That phrase is 30 characters.

Avoiding the question took you more effort than answering it again. You see why we are all . . . . concerned.

Please, in all seriousness, define what you mean by sola scriptura (and also explain why we should accept that definition when it doesn’t agree with the generally accepted version) and then provide your Scripture reference.

Same one I gave you last time.
Hey, Joe!

I’ve just searched through all the posts you made in this thread, and I can’t find a single time you’ve quoted scripture! Erm, so . . . did I miss it? Or are you mistaken? Or just desperately avoiding the question as I and others (see post above from the chap with with username which sounds vaguely like an anagram of Bishop) suspect?

I didn’t call you stupid. I said that you said something stupid and you did.
Just answer my questions, Joe. I tire of your constant obfuscations and games - if you have points to make, make them. They are not complex questions for you to answer - tell me your beliefs and give me a single Bible verse which you have so far not given.

I suspect you won’t. I call that cowardly.

Note, I didn’t call you a coward - I said you did a cowardly thing. 🙂

Actually, i shouldn’t have called this one person “ordinary person who doesn’t believe in Jesus…” Some people go beyond that… and you can feel like you are talking to the devil (and you probably are). I should have been more clear in my meaning… Sorry… Those are the kind i stay clear of…

Very good point… and probably one of better things to say in response… to that kind of “atheism”…

Sometimes i think we Christians get agitated… and then our “issues” enter the picture… or whatever… take things personally… and we somehow lose sight of the fact that we are supposed to be trying to save people’s souls… not just win arguments… God bles…

Oprah had a very difficult childhood… until she started living with her disciplinarian father… She was raped at a very early age… 9, i think…

It is no wonder she has a hard time finding the love of God…

True, she is making choices…

We all need to pray for her…

thank you for clarifying your position. I understand you now.👍

Fortunately that is not a Catholic belief. I have no doubt that it is the belief of some Christians but it’s not the belief of the Catholic Church. Honestly the more I hear the more I wonder just how much time she has spent researching Christianity. Anyone who does an honest search on Christianity will find that while there are some groups of Christians who do believe this not all of them do. There are those, such as Catholics, who do believe that people can be saved even if they have never heard of Christ.

Nope, I’m not impressed by her.
YOU ARE INCORRECT! Actually, the Catholic Church DOES teach that one may go to Heaven despite the fact that they never have heard of Christ. They must, however, be a person who tries to best of their ability to do what is moral, ethical, and right during their lifetime. The Catholic Church believes that God would not condemn a person who has never had the opportunity to hear of Christianity. For example, an aboriginy or one living in a tribe from the Amazon would be perfect examples. Remember, our culpability for sinning is lessened and may even be absolved if we did not have knowledge that we had sinned. The same principle would apply if we did not know Christ.

There was a little confusion in Sabda’s post. He/she agrees with you. See Post #8.

Thank you for clarifying. His/her post was indeed obsure to say the least. It appeared that he was implying some Catholics believe it and that it is not the teaching of the Catholic Church…a bit ambiguous for sure. That’ll teach me to respond only after I have read further. 👍
